I bought this a few months ago and it's aewsome. They sent me the version with the 2.6ghz cpu and not the 2.4 one. So I don't know about the other model, but but on the 098US model the graphics card temp is around 67-72 while gaming, not 100 and over. The only thing that really sucks is the window 7. When I enabled automatic updates, the system had constant issues with the updates. So I just disabled them and never installed any other updates or graphics drivers and it's been perfect.

@nws15 The fan is not noisy at all while gaming. I will upload a video and you will see for yourself. You can't hear the fan spin, only the air coming out.

@wileo94 I overclocked the 5850m to 5870 speeds and saw no temp change. I got 97c max from both the original and overclock

@DDKSHAH you should check out dell outlet. a couple of days ago they had a refurb M15x with a I7 740 QM, 500Gb hdd 1080p screen, 4 gigs ram and a 5850 for only 1300 bucks. About the same price as an equally configured GX 640 i think. i got mine from there and it runs fine. even right now they have a pretty good deal in there put they go REALLY quick.

my gx 740 does not rech such high temps...

my temps go only up to 72 C while benchmarking

but it is VERY important that you have the newest bios and vbios

testet with msi afterburner and kombustor

@sangolt88 nooooooo that is a very bad idea the 5850 in the acer is gddr3 instead of gddr5 it cripples the card. the gddr3 one cant even beat a gtx 260m.

Can you assign the fn key as ctrl key when playing 1st person games?

I need the ctrl for crouching. It would be hard to reach the ctrl key if it is under z key

i really dont know about battery life but expect 1 and a half hour average. and the cpu is great in gaming.
