This dance is even lovelier when there is more styling -- thumb and middle finger held together and a fuller swinging movement of the arm during the turns. Also more graceful movement of the body during the dance. That's how we were taught at Hillel (U.C., Berkeley) in 1956. :)
@TheFolkDancer I used to go to Beth Hillel in Los Angeles, mid 70s. Didn't we keep holding hands during the knee bend? So much more togetherness than just raising arms. Our dance group doesn't do this one, so it's been a while.
we're practicing this in the 6th grade choir hehe
