problem we should be moving away from, rather than thinking to totally reboot our system and return to a hundred year old economic system. (Such things as the Jim Crow Laws or the need for labour unions were results). Now I know you are a libertarian, and no although obviously I can't prove this I did not google what a libertarian is. In a few years I will be going to get a degree in philosophy, and then possibly become a lawyer; but I don't know. I think your idea of a pure capitalist system
@ThisIsMyFridge2 Sorry man - your comment here is chopped up so i cannot follow it. this is what is aggravating about YouTube's comments setup. again, good luck to you if you pursue those endeavors.
The U.S is dumb when voting for Democrats, but completely idiotic when they vote for Republican.
When you vote based on party, but both parties are corrupt just to different degrees, the problem is not going to go away.
Dumb and dumber is not what I would consider a liberal's choice, but we have no other option. I'll stick with dumb democrats for a bit while longer just because their corruption is not yet insane.
Atheist Maher constantly denounces Christians and praises Muslims who would just as soon cut off his infidel head. he is unable to run for office as he could not get elected dogcatcher.
I believe in evolution, Bill Maher you stupid moron. I'm a laissez-faire capitalist, and to hell with your debunked, idiotic, ALTRUISTIC socialist policies! I'm not a slave of your totalitarian hell!
@Valenhiem omg omg you're so misusing the term totalitarian. Totalitarian is exactly the way corporatism was going when Bush was in power. He vetoed the constitution more than any president in US history. He is considered a war criminal.
I will correct you on an issue. It is corporatism and republican governance who push for democracy only as a means to, say, INVADE the Middle East. HELLO!?!?!? this is a lot closer to totalitarianism than democracy and socialism.
@joestyllo That's quite presumptuous. You assume that I approved of George Bush.
I despised him.
He's as totalitarian a leader as Barack Obama or John McCain. They are all fascistic oligarchs. Just saying, Bush isn't considered a 'war criminal'. A 'criminal' must be convicted of a crime. I'm not saying his term was ethical...
Also, democracy is a DISGUSTING, EVIL SYSTEM. Successful societies that RESPECT INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS are constitutional republics. In a democracy, 51% oppresses 49%.
@Valenhiem the idea behind democracy is not 51% but rather a bureaucratic flaw that evoloved out of politics. The idea of democracy are captured in the following terms: justice, representative voice, governance by the people, equal rights, freedom of speech, of beleif etc., but also let us not forget: a concept one my my favorite theorists calls continuity and mutual advantage.
You are stipulating forces of tyrrany from corporatists who took for granted liberalism; hence "neoliberalism"
Ya Bill uses strong vocabulary but he's still right. In America they managed to make education private and by doing so the majority of the people are not "informed". If you can manipulate knowledge you can manipulate vote. Thus the biggest challenge for America is convincing the people what is right and wrong.
If you look at the European education system where it is less privatised we could see the difference: people have knowledge and participate politically.
I disagree with the way Bill says things and what he believes people need to be more educated on. He is right that there needs to be a better effort in educating people to critically think and think for themselves - this I can agree on.
I certainly am not familiar with the European educational system but to use their system as an example of being more politically involved is humorous to me. Just because the educational system is less privatized means that it is more controlled by the public system or government. That is the easiest way to form opinion and control votes and power. Manipulation and control of what you teach people.
Using Europe as an example is terrible. Europe is currently collapsing because they have been brainwashed into thinking socialism works. They have been manipulated into the European Union which has taken each of the countries sovereignty from them and is now causing a financial crisis domino effect and what is occurring in Europe financially is working its way to America I fear due to our cavalier financial practices.
@Valenhiem you're wrong on exctly 4 points. Nor does making a reference at the end of your sentence. I could reference Derrida, Weber, Marx Kant, Nelson, etc., on countless published works that refute your statements But you're missing my point and avoiding it.
You're confused between liberalism and neoliberalism. I'm talking about the former.
I will grant you one thing, it is true that government can become tyrannical. But that is because of corporatism... let me explain
@Valenhiem corporatism is what had invaded congress by lobbying their way through. Thus, we effectively have a government that is not a government who serves the people, but only the "Top-down". The system which beleives that money will eventually over-flow one day and the 98% of the population will get a taste of it one day. That's like telling your children you could eat what I leave in my plate after i'm done dinner.
A simple look at a history lesson tells us that we lived beter before
@Valenhiem And what is the paramount irony is all of this, is that you yourself would be better off in a system which is more democratic and socialist. Joe the Plumber is the epitome of why too many Americans don't know. BEcause to "know", acess to public education is needed. And yes America has prestigeious private schools. But two things. (1) The backbones of those schools were built on earlier more democratic days (2)The graduates 2day are transnational elites, a population from ELSWHERE!
1)I wouldn't be 'better off' in socialism. A collectivist state (Corporatism/crony capitalism=pragmatic socialism) denies me my individual right to self-sovereignty. I have a right to myself, and my property. A collectivist culture and state enslaved me and demands that I serve others.
@Valenhiem but in only caring about yourself, you are effectively undemrining yourself. Whether we cite Hegel's Master - Slave, Darwin or Simmel, they all tell one story and that's that the individual cannot evolve without his community. And in fact, being the capitalist you are, you should know that capitalism -- if nothing else -- needs large surplus population and interdependence amongst those within. Although it gains wealth in a modern form of slavery, it is still precisely collective!
@Valenhiem and the idea behin mutual advantage and continuity is that after the dark ages we made an agreement to not kill each other.
So you see, since the "human project" is based on NOT being animal, it follows from this that we must maintain our project on mutual advantage. That said, yes tyranny becomes dangerous. But it is a risk we must take or else we can easily go back to killing each other. Just look at,as you say, facism & nazism, this is entirely new to the occident.
@Valenhiem and so despite only 51%, we have to account for the fact that most people are Joe the plumbers. Do you want Joe the plumber to be running for president? HELL NO!!!!!!!! This guy is never going to make more than 250 000. In fact, stats show that not even a half a percent of people will ever make 250 000 annually.
But the American dream is an illusion to keep people thinking they could one day be that half a percent, therbey allowing Right Wing tyranny to prevail!
Yes he us angry because the U.S. is in some shit right now. If you pay attention to whats going on and how thing are run, you would be pissed off too. He only seems arrogant because Bill likes to use facts backed up by statistics.
Bill's really just not that funny anymore. He's made a huge living off insulting all of us and it's gotten old. Now he just comes across as an arrogant angry ass.
@cano21 no, he comes across as a guy who speaks the truth, americans are stupid.
It's scarey knowing that 60% of the population of one of the most powerful countries in the world do not believe evolution, because of their religion.
A Racist, Sexist, Bi-Sexual Gentleman like Bill Maher prefers Fake Aryan Blond Bombshells Handcrafted by Hitler's Henchmen for Hugh Heffner's Viagra Parties (in which Bill Maher participates periodically)!
Hey Bill, been to the Playboy mansion lately? Think the girls are aware of the lifts in your shoes? Wow...you're such a lady killer....they must LOVE you. It's ok Bill....when you notice the girls snickering after you've walked past them, they're just talking about something else....not you.
Can you help me understand how getting health care makes America less stupid? BTW- America has health care - the best in the world for that matter. I have worked all my life in the medical field at some of the most prestigious institutions in the country. No one comes close to the health care we have available to us. I think what you mean is that you want us to get health insurance which I again ask the same question...if we get universal health insurance how does that make America less stupid?
How much do you really know about the "healthcare" bill our government is trying to pass that would make us less stupid? Maybe you should Google nimblepig and check out the healthcare section.
Let's keep it honest here, America is currently aspiring to make the top 30 countries in the world for health care and the WHO currently lists the USA at #37, despite the fact that they spend more than any other country on earth on so called 'health care.' I have no idea what sort of coverage you yourself have, but I ask you to compare it to the 36 countries that are better than you in the field of keeping their own people alive.
Yes, let's keep it honest...you see your problem is that you listen to people like Michael Moore or Bill Maher or our White House Admin. who purposely use WHO statistics for the purpose of affect. If you actually had any critical thought going on in your mind you might try to ask why would be listed that low in a country that pioneers health care.
Well, I will give you the answer...the reason we are listed so low on the WHO list for keeping patients alive is that we actually treat many more patients than other countries. You see when you do not deliver health care to sick patients it is very easy to have a low death rate. When patients actually do not get treated for certain conditions in other countries due to their age or other criteria it is easy to good statistics.
Your example is like comparing an amateur fighter with 10 bouts and a record of 9-1 to a Professional fighter with 50 professional fights at a record of 40-10. Who is more skilled and has had to defeat more challenging opponents.
For those not good with analogies what I am saying is that if a cardiovascular surgeon only performs a bypass surgery on the optimal candidate and turns down the most challenging cases you end up with great statistics. In America we deal with the patients on all ends of the spectrum. That is the difference. So the WHO's statistics in this case is meaningless when the countries we are compared to are standing on the sidelines and not even competing in the game of health care.
Oh and The Director General of the WHO admits their data has been "hampered by the weakness of routine information systems and insufficient attention to research" and "developed data through a variety of techniques" ...this means they blindly accepted what governments reported to them. I guess the UN/WHO thinks that the best place to get good information on the likelihood of drug addiction is from a pamphlet given to oyu by a crack dealer.
And another category that contributes to the US placing so low in the WHO rankings is "fairness". Their measure of "fairness" in a nutshell basically says if you have 2 patients (1 rich / 1 poor) who can be cured by an expensive or experimental treatment - by the UN/WHO standard the country that lets both patients die is superior to one that manages to keep 1 alive.
BTW- here are some statistics for you...someone from the U.S. has won the Nobel prize for medicine in 36 of the last 43 years or about 84% of the time...but we suck at pioneering health care, right?
one last example on how your statistics are terribly manipulated - infant mortality rates - there is a terrible disparity by which this is measured. In the U.S. a baby that shows any signs of life is counted as a live birth but other countries think that is crazy and use size ad weight to determine whether a birth is "live". now would you trust an organization like the WHO that views these stats as comparable?
Hey "Blade" thanks for your concern about my life expectancy. (Scary screen name by the way.) See this is called freedom of Speech in America. If you do not like it you do not need to read it. I come to expect this though. If no one can offer a substantive discussion point on the topic they often resort to name calling.
Intelligent Americans: Robert Trivers,Kurt Vonnegut,Noam Chomsky,Howard Zinn,John F Nash,Lawrence Krauss,Neil Tyson,Carl Sagan,Gore Vidal,Jonathan Lethem,Twain, Hemingway,John Cheever,Bill Gates,Ray Kurtzweil,et cetera.
Is America still stupid? Well, compared to other industrialized countries I'll have to say yes. If they were smart, Fox News would have never lasted this long.
btw, You have to be real dishonest to attribute to so many misrepresentation of Bill Maher.
Just from some of the people you have listed here looks like you are all for socialism. How is Maher being misrepresented with his own words? What does Fox have to do with anything here other than it sounds like you want only one perspective, I guess our 1st amendment right should not apply and we should begin telling people what they believe, right? The questions posed here are valid but it looks like the more comments posted such as yours are making a case for America's stupidity.
Also, you say America is stupid compared to other industrialized nations...can you enlighten us all and give us all some examples and then offer supporting reasons on why these nations are more intelligent? I am tired of these blanket statements that no one can ever back up.
On the contrary, I'm a capitalist, but I'm also for regulating the economy. It's unfair to have all power and wealth to be concentrated on a small segment of society; like corporations using the government to take out competition.
As for the first amendment, I'm a big time supporter of George Carlin's seven dirty words, and I think even antisemites have a right to their h8ful speech.
Fox news is not news, they are a right-wing talking machine. If a lot of people watch it then, yes, they are dumb
You call yourself a capitalist but you want more regulation, call for more fairness, and repeat what the White House Administration (specifically Robert Gibbs) states what Fox news is. That is not Capitalism.
I do not really care to defend Fox but what I do care about is that if most people are watching Fox it tells me there may be more substance to their programming versus their competition. I ask you why Fox is not a news source? Can you answer that other than because Gibbs says so? Is there actual critical thought behind that comment or are you just listening to what the State controlled media tells you to think?
Furthermore, if you are a Capitalist you would be an advocate of creating better programming on the other news channels, maybe asking tougher questions and challenging authority through their journalism more often in order to bring their level of competition up capitalism is about competition and if other media sources are not able to compete currently they have to choices (maybe three) die, change and adapt to the competition, (government support and bailouts).
Finally, I could not agree with you more regarding large institutions/corporations using tax payer dollars to gain more power and control. However, you state that it is not fair. I ask you what is fair? Life is not fair. There is no utopia. Fairness does not exist. You will eventually learn that. Fairness is not an argument for regulation. Government intervention and regulation always causes more problems. The more rules the more the harder the rule breakers work to get around them.
I am not saying we have no oversight or regulation but in this case it is not the answer.
The answer in this case is to let the damn large companies FAIL. If you let Bear Stearns fail maybe Lehman Brothers adjusts their strategy and does not think they will get a government bailout. But the too big to fail companies are always bailed out hence never being forced to adapt.
Necessity is the mother of invention and if the corporations do not get better they should fail. But we are led to believe that everyone deserves a safety net. This is not capitalism that is big corporations using tax payer dollars to grab more power which is enabled by our government through bailouts and government power grabs too through nationalizing banks and various industries. The economy is broken. The longer you wait to take your medicine the worse it is going to taste.
Now you're putting a lot of things in my mouth. I never advocated Utopia, by fair I meant that no entity should be using the government, because that is not what free market is all about. And I agree with you, American media is in a poor state. Corporations should fail if they don't work. And too big to fail companies should never exist in the first place.
If he loves china so much, he should move there. People like him think they have the answers to everything and think everyone who disagrees is stupid. Fuck him
America voted for Bush twice (ok in 2000 they voted for Al Gore by majority...but by only half a million votes!)
Clinton comes in, cleans the debt created by Reagan and Senior Bush and leaves the country with half a trillion dollar SURPLUS.
Americans want more debt so they vote for a Republican.
Bush raises debt.
Obama voted in.
Americans are mad at debt. Where the fuck were these Americans that cared about the debt in the past 30 years?! Suddenly start to worry when the President is Black?
I can already tell you are a left wing democratic liberal worshiper. All of our Presidents have created debt. Both parties are to blame and Clinton did not get on track until the republicans had the majority in congress and forced him to manage from the middle. Furthermore Clinton never cleaned up our debt. The fraudulent wall street banking cartel created the internet bubble which created a lot of artificial economic stimulation and wealth to create a bubble which helped us get to a surplus.
Clinton was able to have the US operating on a surplus so we did not have a budget deficit but cleaning up our debt...well that is not possible in 2 terms. Don't forget that Carter created much of the debt prior to Clinton and Reagan turned the country around after Carter nearly destroyed it. Republicans borrow and Democrats tax either way they all create debt and it is all decreases the American People's buying power.
Americans have been mad since Bush was in office. And Americans are getting mad because we have Marxist driving our government and country into the ground at light speed not due to the color of our President's skin. Stop hiding behind race and address the issues. It is evident that without the race card that is always played there is nothing to hide behind and it is interesting that those who claim to fight racism would be nothing without the existence of it.
I don't understand how Obama is driving your country into the ground. From what I've seen he's trying to reduce the number of troops over seas, he's introduced the concept of a universal health care system, he wants to (or at least the party wants to) reduce the deficit by taxing the upper percentile, and instead of using 'enhanced interrogation', he used CIA intelligence to orchestrate the take-down of Bin Laden. Most people say he sucks, so I must be missing something here.
I will address your questions (thanks for asking and trying to have a meaningful discourse rather than calling names and shouting like most people do on here):
1. Reducing troops overseas: We are now in 4 wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. Libya was not authorized by Congress (I dont think Syria was either but unsure) and is a clear violation of the constitution and an overreach of the powers of the executive branch. We were engaged in 2 wars when Obama
2. Universal health care is the wrong type of reform. we need reform but not this type. And Universal healthcare is not what was passed as healthcare reform in the US although the reform bill will eventually lead to this. I could go on forever here on the problems with our healthcare system as i have worked in it for almost a decade and I could go on forever about how to enact real reform that would work. problem is big pharma and others would never allow it.
big pharma road blocked Obama's original reform bill until he played ball w/ them. he would have never passed the bill w/o including them. this is just the very tip of the iceberg.
#3 - you cannot reduce the debt or deficit (which are 2 different things) by taxing the upper percentile as they already pay the lions share of taxes. Research The Laffer Curve or Hauser's Law. This will have ZERO impact on the deficit not to mention since Obama has been in office he has added >$3T
#3 (continued) - yes > $3T ...that's over 3 Trillion dollars to the national debt since 2009 due to QE 1 and 2 and stimulus and there will surely be QE3 as we come up on an election year and that will likely fund much of his campaign in a laundered way.
#4 - as far as the take down of Osama - he admitted interrogation techniques led to info that led to OBL death. Although - I am not for Guantanamo Bay or torture Obama did admit to this in one of his speeches.
Bottom line is - its not about hating Obama - its not about D or R....in fact, Obama is slightly left of Bush but this will be lost on many people...what this is about is freedom and liberty and the idea and concept of the U.S. being hijacked by some very large and powerful corporations and bankers. The elections and the puppets in our govt are just a way for them to continue their dominance.
Okay, but you articulated before that 'Marxists' are driving your country into the ground, but now you seem to complain that puppets in the pockets of corporations are ruining the US. And those two are incompatible, as Marxists are not in any form in favor of the rule of big banks/corporations. Now I've seen so called 'socialist' governments work. I live in Canada for example, where we have socialized medicine for example. I point you to Australia, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden.
@ThisIsMyFridge2 in addition, socialism is all over Europe and it is failing miserably. The EU is under very heavy financial stresses due to socialism - AND the root cause is that which socialism is based on....the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people money.
When i talk about corporations and big banks being in the mix that is CRONY CAPITALISM - which can lead to or walk very closely along the lines of fascism. Crony CAP is not free markets or pure capitalism.
@ThisIsMyFridge2 This is not new to history. It repeats and repeats and repeats. Greece + Spain + France are all pulling down the EU. You can't keep shoveling money form successful countries or states to ones that fail - people are so arrogant that they continue to think they will get it right. Read "Road To Serfdom" by Hayek - he is an Austrian Economist that studied under Ludwig Von Mises, Father of Austrian Economics - these guys saw 1st hand how these forms of governments destroy society.
Furthemore, these could be considered more 'socialist' nations than the US. I don't understand why you guys are so whiny about heading towards socialism.
There are a number of competing forces including Marxists, socialists, fascists, etc. that all lead to the same conclusion for the people of a nation - serfdom. It does not have to be one or the other - its not such an absolute outcome of either - or. It can be both. You also need to define what you mean by governments that work. Define a successful government? Just b/c you point out 6 countries that have socialized medicine does not mean it works.
Then what the hell would you recommend? We have come to a decision that with any type of government, there is going to be flaws. You've pointed out systems with the most flaws (medieval feudalism, communism, fascism, and crony capitalism) and I say that perhaps our more socialist nations do have flaws. Okay. A government without flaws? That is UNIMAGINABLE, as we are only humans and as the old cliche goes we can never agree completely. But if you're looking for a type of government that is good
@ThisIsMyFridge2 I would recommend limited government setup as a republic that operates on pure free market capitalism principles. we have not seen this since the early 1900's. The US was hijacked by The Fed and certain special interest groups a while ago and none of society living today has experienced true free markets but it has proven to build the most prosperous nation in human history. I never claimed there was a perfect government. You continue to assume and put words in my mouth.
for the most people and the least flaws, I am going to have to go with a closer to European style liberal socialist republic. People can say what they want as long as it doesn't infringe on our personal rights, we don't have ridiculous things like the cancer of religion un-separated from the state, where there is RELATIVE and therefore I absolutely mean not TOTAL redistribution, and if we were to look to the best states on Earth in which we should model ours over I would look to those I had
@ThisIsMyFridge2 the models you discuss are about control. whether it is Marxism, Socialism, Fascism the control i snot in the hands of the people and that is where my issue lies.
previously listed. The TRUTH, not facts as I didn't argue based on facts to begin with, note the difference; is that facts can only go so far. You can put a spin on any fact really, doesn't make you right. My initial comment was as to why the conservatives hated a more socialist liberal way of looking at things, as it seems to work for us. My question is still this and always has been this. Why doesn't it work for you?
@ThisIsMyFridge2 I agree that facts can be spun. very true but you were simply offering an opinion on some countries you thought were the best which is totally arbitrary - the best at what and based on what? Also, definitions have changed so drastically - you say liberal - today's liberal meaning is totally distorted.
You ask me why conservatives think a certain way but you again assume i am conservative which i am absolutely NOT!
@ThisIsMyFridge2 I am a classic liberal which I am sure is beyond your comprehension. i guess you will google it though and act like you know. so ask a conservative if you want a conservative perspective....i dont know why they believe what they believe.
What type of government, socialist ones? Then why is your country so vastly hated by the rest of the world? Don't say because they're jealous of your wealth and success and incredible schools or powerful army, because that is laughable now. I don't believe socialist countries are dragging the EU down as they are all very similar, and again I must mention that governments like Sweden, Norway or to a lesser extend Canada are not ruining their countries, their countries are arguably the best
countries on the planet for the living of their citizens. Thanks to RELATIVELY (not totally as people such as Glenn Beck would have you believe) redistribution of wealth.
@ThisIsMyFridge2 - listen, 1st you had 4 questions which i addressed with factual data. then, you choose to pick out something u call an inconsistency which was unrelated to ur original post but was a misunderstanding of what i said. so i clarified. next, u want to have a pissing contest about what countries are best. u r a waste of time. u use no facts and only care to be "Right" about something.
@ThisIsMyFridge2 EU is all socialist so if those principles are not what has put the EU in a terrible financial spot then what has? redistribution of wealth is horrible. If you got strait A's in school is it ok to redistribute ur GPA to those getting C's/D's to make it all even then...is that how things should work? can u tell me why u think those countries r the best other than its ur opinion? look man, ur not makin much sense so good luck. i hope u open ur eyes & stop being a useful idiot.
PS We don't use GPA in Canada, we have percentages. Makes a lot more sense, just another point that makes everybody shake their heads at the US. But that's not really that important. Whats important is that school isn't the last resort, not everybody can get A's because that is not their learning style. These people are often in our armies, building our buildings, in our restaurants, or basically making the gear-shifts of society work. Equal opportunities are provided, but not everybody
@ThisIsMyFridge2 Jesus man, U R totally missing my point. this is what i mean - i try to discuss things with you and they fly way over ur head and u start talking about silly off topic things like percentages versus grades. it was an analogy man.
Lastly, why r u so angry? If u like where u live and u like those countries then go be happy in ur socialist utopia. what the hell do u care what I think or what the US does? I am not trying to change Canada or tell u what to do.
@ThisIsMyFridge2 go be prosperous in CA and prove the naysayers wrong man.
and u talk about everyone shaking their heads at the US... i guess if u and the rest of the world have such superior intelligence then u can take it and go run everything the way u want and i will stay in the US if we can go back to true free markets. u can have what u want and i will have what i want. why does it have to b so absolute and again, not sure why u care so much since u r not in the US.
Now hold up now, you simply said that we shouldn't distribute GPA to given everyone A's. For the third time, I didn't say complete even distribution of wealth. I'd say closer than in the non-pure capitalist system or dictatorships would have. Now here in Canada we do not have that as most as 'modern' liberals would like. Our child poverty rate is almost as bad as the US, and the Harper Government has done nothing to act upon it. That is beside the point, Im just trying to say that that is the
is unrealistic, archean and could be harmful without you even knowing. Will there be problems with the socialist system? Absolutely. But I live half an hour from the US, I know people from there and certain Americans are our heroes. We want what's best for your country, because you helped us beat Hitler and took it pretty well after we won the Olympic hockey gold medal (besides the point). I don't want to see the fate of our world go back in time, there is nothing to brag about. US is not #1,
and even though they are looked upon badly by us and the rest of the world for your many falters; we just want to co-exist in peace again. I do agree, that we cannot do that with certain people ruining our society, but we don't want to take it and run and give you guys the proverbial cold shoulder. You're complaining to Americans to stop the madness and telling me basically its not my business, but it is.
By the way you have a guy going by "Nerocification" on your channel, I don't know if you are arguing or agreeing; but if it is the latter, than I think that person is really the type we should be going out of our way to speak out against. The far-right (under the new spectral guidelines) radical Christians and xenophobes. Those are not just tearing the US together. They are a thorn in the side of every rational person, and are tearing this world apart. Stop just attacking Marxists and speak
@ThisIsMyFridge2 Well, there are a lot of people that comment on the channel. i do not police it as everyone has a right to their free speech no matter how much i disagree. just because u and i may disagree on some things does not mean that i am going to delete these comments or i will delete his/hers b/c I disagree with them. i normally do not take the time to comment as I have with you but it was fun this time so good luck to u man.
@andyx1205 So it's because he's black!! It's not because of Ideology, or politics, or the fact he wrote a bill that would FORCE people to buy health insurance, or the fact he talked about "Spreading the wealth around" or the fact he printed $1,000,000,000,000 for seemingly no reason thus devaluing the U.S. dollar. It's because they're a bunch of racist! Of course! I thought those protesters were just sick and tired with how both parties were doing things in Washington, but nope it's racism
@chiggerwood Who was the party that CUT their income and spent the money anyway. Who was the party that tried to Raise (Tax) their income to match their spending
I didn't say it, the Constitution did. Tell me when was the last time there was a positive change for the people of the United States? Its been war, recession, and bullshit.
well the democrats are their enablers. Democrats are a bunch of wimps. We have total control and we can't have universal healthcare. I don't believe the democrats are the solution and never will be. We need to take these fuckers out of office either in a good way or a bad one. The 2nd amendment gives us the right to overthrow the govt when it ceases to serve the people. I believe the govt stopped serving the people a long time ago
not all of its citizens but i can surely say the ones who elected bush twice are the ones bill maher is talking about , sarah palin ,sean hannity ,g beck and the whole republican crowd is beyond stupid .
you mention yourself in the "more info" section that what made america great was ingenuity and innovation. maher has said more than once "what have we done for us lately?" putting men on the moon only took ten years because the whole country got behind it, but it was 40 years ago. things like that don't happen anymore. wars don't count.
americans (and much of the 'free' world) are dumb because they are addicted to convenience and refuse 2 change even tho it's ruining the planet & democracy.
I do agree that we need to do more for ourselves. We are able to do this WITHOUT the interference of the government. The people can solve these problems if permitted to. Government does not solve problems. If they just got out of our way we could do amazing things. I do not care about Maher and his position. I use him as a popular figure to draw people into an important discussion. Why defend Maher or any other icon? We need to operate on our own critical thinking skills and principles.
Do you have any facts to back up your position? Is there a poll that you read that states that the majority of Americans do not believe in evolution? Furthermore, is that the final test of intelligence?
I believe in evolution but I do not dismiss others as stupid because they do not recognize it. I do not think people do not believe in evolution rather they do not recognize because it goes against their faith.
What exactly do you mean that Americans almost got Sarah Palin? How so? The election was between Obama and McCain and the result was not even close - Obama won by a substantial margin.
Furthermore, Palin was potentially more qualified than Obama at the time of the election. Palin actually had more relevant experience as a Governor and governed a state. Obama had experience in the Senate for less than 2 years which does not require governance skills rather legislation skills.
Bill Maher is so right, he says what all the liberals think but don't want to say. The conservatives aren't really educated. They'd rather be sitting in Church singing songs than trying to make America better. You can't really have progress with folks like the conservatives trying to hold you back on every single issue.
Funny thing is, Republican, white Christian conservatives suck at singing anyways. African American culture is the origin of great, original music in the USA.
Americans are dumb now , to many redneck hillbillies and gangsters . i dont know whats happening to americans but there staying far behind and they dont realize it we need a better education system , we need to leave religion for churches not for government we need an alternative energy supply not middle east oi.

Valenhiem 1 year ago
@Valenhiem omg omg you're so misusing the term totalitarian. Totalitarian is exactly the way corporatism was going when Bush was in power. He vetoed the constitution more than any president in US history. He is considered a war criminal.
I will correct you on an issue. It is corporatism and republican governance who push for democracy only as a means to, say, INVADE the Middle East. HELLO!?!?!? this is a lot closer to totalitarianism than democracy and socialism.
joestyllo 1 year ago
Valenhiem 1 year ago
@Valenhiem the idea behind democracy is not 51% but rather a bureaucratic flaw that evoloved out of politics. The idea of democracy are captured in the following terms: justice, representative voice, governance by the people, equal rights, freedom of speech, of beleif etc., but also let us not forget: a concept one my my favorite theorists calls continuity and mutual advantage.
You are stipulating forces of tyrrany from corporatists who took for granted liberalism; hence "neoliberalism"
joestyllo 1 year ago
Ya Bill uses strong vocabulary but he's still right. In America they managed to make education private and by doing so the majority of the people are not "informed". If you can manipulate knowledge you can manipulate vote. Thus the biggest challenge for America is convincing the people what is right and wrong.
If you look at the European education system where it is less privatised we could see the difference: people have knowledge and participate politically.

I disagree with the way Bill says things and what he believes people need to be more educated on. He is right that there needs to be a better effort in educating people to critically think and think for themselves - this I can agree on.
RC00058 1 year ago
@joestyllo
I certainly am not familiar with the European educational system but to use their system as an example of being more politically involved is humorous to me. Just because the educational system is less privatized means that it is more controlled by the public system or government. That is the easiest way to form opinion and control votes and power. Manipulation and control of what you teach people.
RC00058 1 year ago
@joestyllo
RC00058 1 year ago
@joestyllo
...
1) The US doesn't have a private education system.
2) The schools in the US that are failing are PUBLIC SCHOOLS. The private schools are the HIGHEST QUALITY.
3) A right to education, paid for by the slave-workers of the state, doesn't exist.
4) The job of the state isn't to convince people of anything, right or wrong. That's tyranny! Brainwashing! Propaganda! Totalitarian, 1984 INGSOC!
Valenhiem 1 year ago
@Valenhiem you're wrong on exctly 4 points. Nor does making a reference at the end of your sentence. I could reference Derrida, Weber, Marx Kant, Nelson, etc., on countless published works that refute your statements But you're missing my point and avoiding it.
You're confused between liberalism and neoliberalism. I'm talking about the former.
I will grant you one thing, it is true that government can become tyrannical. But that is because of corporatism... let me explain
joestyllo 1 year ago
@Valenhiem corporatism is what had invaded congress by lobbying their way through. Thus, we effectively have a government that is not a government who serves the people, but only the "Top-down". The system which beleives that money will eventually over-flow one day and the 98% of the population will get a taste of it one day. That's like telling your children you could eat what I leave in my plate after i'm done dinner.
A simple look at a history lesson tells us that we lived beter before
joestyllo 1 year ago
@Valenhiem And what is the paramount irony is all of this, is that you yourself would be better off in a system which is more democratic and socialist. Joe the Plumber is the epitome of why too many Americans don't know. BEcause to "know", acess to public education is needed. And yes America has prestigeious private schools. But two things. (1) The backbones of those schools were built on earlier more democratic days (2)The graduates 2day are transnational elites, a population from ELSWHERE!
joestyllo 1 year ago
@joestyllo
1)I wouldn't be 'better off' in socialism. A collectivist state (Corporatism/crony capitalism=pragmatic socialism) denies me my individual right to self-sovereignty. I have a right to myself, and my property. A collectivist culture and state enslaved me and demands that I serve others.
I say NO! I serve myself, and no one else!
Valenhiem 1 year ago
@Valenhiem but in only caring about yourself, you are effectively undemrining yourself. Whether we cite Hegel's Master - Slave, Darwin or Simmel, they all tell one story and that's that the individual cannot evolve without his community. And in fact, being the capitalist you are, you should know that capitalism -- if nothing else -- needs large surplus population and interdependence amongst those within. Although it gains wealth in a modern form of slavery, it is still precisely collective!
joestyllo 1 year ago
@Valenhiem and the idea behin mutual advantage and continuity is that after the dark ages we made an agreement to not kill each other.
So you see, since the "human project" is based on NOT being animal, it follows from this that we must maintain our project on mutual advantage. That said, yes tyranny becomes dangerous. But it is a risk we must take or else we can easily go back to killing each other. Just look at,as you say, facism & nazism, this is entirely new to the occident.
joestyllo 1 year ago
@Valenhiem and so despite only 51%, we have to account for the fact that most people are Joe the plumbers. Do you want Joe the plumber to be running for president? HELL NO!!!!!!!! This guy is never going to make more than 250 000. In fact, stats show that not even a half a percent of people will ever make 250 000 annually.
But the American dream is an illusion to keep people thinking they could one day be that half a percent, therbey allowing Right Wing tyranny to prevail!

Get health care, there's step #1 towards being less stupid.
ALLMYHEROSWEARMASKS 2 years ago
Can you help me understand how getting health care makes America less stupid? BTW- America has health care - the best in the world for that matter. I have worked all my life in the medical field at some of the most prestigious institutions in the country. No one comes close to the health care we have available to us. I think what you mean is that you want us to get health insurance which I again ask the same question...if we get universal health insurance how does that make America less stupid?
RC00058 2 years ago
How much do you really know about the "healthcare" bill our government is trying to pass that would make us less stupid? Maybe you should Google nimblepig and check out the healthcare section.
RC00058 2 years ago
@RC00058
ALLMYHEROSWEARMASKS 2 years ago
Yes, let's keep it honest...you see your problem is that you listen to people like Michael Moore or Bill Maher or our White House Admin. who purposely use WHO statistics for the purpose of affect. If you actually had any critical thought going on in your mind you might try to ask why would be listed that low in a country that pioneers health care.
RC00058 2 years ago
Well, I will give you the answer...the reason we are listed so low on the WHO list for keeping patients alive is that we actually treat many more patients than other countries. You see when you do not deliver health care to sick patients it is very easy to have a low death rate. When patients actually do not get treated for certain conditions in other countries due to their age or other criteria it is easy to good statistics.
RC00058 2 years ago
Your example is like comparing an amateur fighter with 10 bouts and a record of 9-1 to a Professional fighter with 50 professional fights at a record of 40-10. Who is more skilled and has had to defeat more challenging opponents.
RC00058 2 years ago
For those not good with analogies what I am saying is that if a cardiovascular surgeon only performs a bypass surgery on the optimal candidate and turns down the most challenging cases you end up with great statistics. In America we deal with the patients on all ends of the spectrum. That is the difference. So the WHO's statistics in this case is meaningless when the countries we are compared to are standing on the sidelines and not even competing in the game of health care.
RC00058 2 years ago
Do you have any other worthless statistics that you would like to post that you heard from the liberal liars?
RC00058 2 years ago

RC00058 2 years ago
Oh and The Director General of the WHO admits their data has been "hampered by the weakness of routine information systems and insufficient attention to research" and "developed data through a variety of techniques" ...this means they blindly accepted what governments reported to them. I guess the UN/WHO thinks that the best place to get good information on the likelihood of drug addiction is from a pamphlet given to oyu by a crack dealer.
RC00058 2 years ago
And another category that contributes to the US placing so low in the WHO rankings is "fairness". Their measure of "fairness" in a nutshell basically says if you have 2 patients (1 rich / 1 poor) who can be cured by an expensive or experimental treatment - by the UN/WHO standard the country that lets both patients die is superior to one that manages to keep 1 alive.
RC00058 2 years ago
BTW- here are some statistics for you...someone from the U.S. has won the Nobel prize for medicine in 36 of the last 43 years or about 84% of the time...but we suck at pioneering health care, right?
RC00058 2 years ago
one last example on how your statistics are terribly manipulated - infant mortality rates - there is a terrible disparity by which this is measured. In the U.S. a baby that shows any signs of life is counted as a live birth but other countries think that is crazy and use size ad weight to determine whether a birth is "live". now would you trust an organization like the WHO that views these stats as comparable?
RC00058 2 years ago

RC00058 2 years ago
Also, you say America is stupid compared to other industrialized nations...can you enlighten us all and give us all some examples and then offer supporting reasons on why these nations are more intelligent? I am tired of these blanket statements that no one can ever back up.
RC00058 2 years ago
On the contrary, I'm a capitalist, but I'm also for regulating the economy. It's unfair to have all power and wealth to be concentrated on a small segment of society; like corporations using the government to take out competition.
As for the first amendment, I'm a big time supporter of George Carlin's seven dirty words, and I think even antisemites have a right to their h8ful speech.
Fox news is not news, they are a right-wing talking machine. If a lot of people watch it then, yes, they are dumb
Nades129 2 years ago
You call yourself a capitalist but you want more regulation, call for more fairness, and repeat what the White House Administration (specifically Robert Gibbs) states what Fox news is. That is not Capitalism.
RC00058 2 years ago
I do not really care to defend Fox but what I do care about is that if most people are watching Fox it tells me there may be more substance to their programming versus their competition. I ask you why Fox is not a news source? Can you answer that other than because Gibbs says so? Is there actual critical thought behind that comment or are you just listening to what the State controlled media tells you to think?
RC00058 2 years ago
Furthermore, if you are a Capitalist you would be an advocate of creating better programming on the other news channels, maybe asking tougher questions and challenging authority through their journalism more often in order to bring their level of competition up capitalism is about competition and if other media sources are not able to compete currently they have to choices (maybe three) die, change and adapt to the competition, (government support and bailouts).
RC00058 2 years ago
Finally, I could not agree with you more regarding large institutions/corporations using tax payer dollars to gain more power and control. However, you state that it is not fair. I ask you what is fair? Life is not fair. There is no utopia. Fairness does not exist. You will eventually learn that. Fairness is not an argument for regulation. Government intervention and regulation always causes more problems. The more rules the more the harder the rule breakers work to get around them.
RC00058 2 years ago
I am not saying we have no oversight or regulation but in this case it is not the answer.
The answer in this case is to let the damn large companies FAIL. If you let Bear Stearns fail maybe Lehman Brothers adjusts their strategy and does not think they will get a government bailout. But the too big to fail companies are always bailed out hence never being forced to adapt.
RC00058 2 years ago
Necessity is the mother of invention and if the corporations do not get better they should fail. But we are led to believe that everyone deserves a safety net. This is not capitalism that is big corporations using tax payer dollars to grab more power which is enabled by our government through bailouts and government power grabs too through nationalizing banks and various industries. The economy is broken. The longer you wait to take your medicine the worse it is going to taste.
RC00058 2 years ago
Now you're putting a lot of things in my mouth. I never advocated Utopia, by fair I meant that no entity should be using the government, because that is not what free market is all about. And I agree with you, American media is in a poor state. Corporations should fail if they don't work. And too big to fail companies should never exist in the first place.

Suddenly start to worry when the President is Black?
andyx1205 2 years ago 8
I can already tell you are a left wing democratic liberal worshiper. All of our Presidents have created debt. Both parties are to blame and Clinton did not get on track until the republicans had the majority in congress and forced him to manage from the middle. Furthermore Clinton never cleaned up our debt. The fraudulent wall street banking cartel created the internet bubble which created a lot of artificial economic stimulation and wealth to create a bubble which helped us get to a surplus.
NimblePig 2 years ago
Clinton was able to have the US operating on a surplus so we did not have a budget deficit but cleaning up our debt...well that is not possible in 2 terms. Don't forget that Carter created much of the debt prior to Clinton and Reagan turned the country around after Carter nearly destroyed it. Republicans borrow and Democrats tax either way they all create debt and it is all decreases the American People's buying power.
NimblePig 2 years ago
Americans have been mad since Bush was in office. And Americans are getting mad because we have Marxist driving our government and country into the ground at light speed not due to the color of our President's skin. Stop hiding behind race and address the issues. It is evident that without the race card that is always played there is nothing to hide behind and it is interesting that those who claim to fight racism would be nothing without the existence of it.
NimblePig 2 years ago
I don't understand how Obama is driving your country into the ground. From what I've seen he's trying to reduce the number of troops over seas, he's introduced the concept of a universal health care system, he wants to (or at least the party wants to) reduce the deficit by taxing the upper percentile, and instead of using 'enhanced interrogation', he used CIA intelligence to orchestrate the take-down of Bin Laden. Most people say he sucks, so I must be missing something here.
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2
NimblePig 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2
took office.
NimblePig 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2
big pharma road blocked Obama's original reform bill until he played ball w/ them. he would have never passed the bill w/o including them. this is just the very tip of the iceberg.
NimblePig 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2
NimblePig 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2:
NimblePig 6 months ago
Okay, but you articulated before that 'Marxists' are driving your country into the ground, but now you seem to complain that puppets in the pockets of corporations are ruining the US. And those two are incompatible, as Marxists are not in any form in favor of the rule of big banks/corporations. Now I've seen so called 'socialist' governments work. I live in Canada for example, where we have socialized medicine for example. I point you to Australia, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden.
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 in addition, socialism is all over Europe and it is failing miserably. The EU is under very heavy financial stresses due to socialism - AND the root cause is that which socialism is based on....the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people money.
When i talk about corporations and big banks being in the mix that is CRONY CAPITALISM - which can lead to or walk very closely along the lines of fascism. Crony CAP is not free markets or pure capitalism.
NimblePig 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 This is not new to history. It repeats and repeats and repeats. Greece + Spain + France are all pulling down the EU. You can't keep shoveling money form successful countries or states to ones that fail - people are so arrogant that they continue to think they will get it right. Read "Road To Serfdom" by Hayek - he is an Austrian Economist that studied under Ludwig Von Mises, Father of Austrian Economics - these guys saw 1st hand how these forms of governments destroy society.
NimblePig 6 months ago
Furthemore, these could be considered more 'socialist' nations than the US. I don't understand why you guys are so whiny about heading towards socialism.
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2
NimblePig 6 months ago
Then what the hell would you recommend? We have come to a decision that with any type of government, there is going to be flaws. You've pointed out systems with the most flaws (medieval feudalism, communism, fascism, and crony capitalism) and I say that perhaps our more socialist nations do have flaws. Okay. A government without flaws? That is UNIMAGINABLE, as we are only humans and as the old cliche goes we can never agree completely. But if you're looking for a type of government that is good
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 I would recommend limited government setup as a republic that operates on pure free market capitalism principles. we have not seen this since the early 1900's. The US was hijacked by The Fed and certain special interest groups a while ago and none of society living today has experienced true free markets but it has proven to build the most prosperous nation in human history. I never claimed there was a perfect government. You continue to assume and put words in my mouth.
NimblePig 6 months ago
for the most people and the least flaws, I am going to have to go with a closer to European style liberal socialist republic.
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 the models you discuss are about control. whether it is Marxism, Socialism, Fascism the control i snot in the hands of the people and that is where my issue lies.

previously listed. The TRUTH, not facts as I didn't argue based on facts to begin with, note the difference; is that facts can only go so far. You can put a spin on any fact really, doesn't make you right. My initial comment was as to why the conservatives hated a more socialist liberal way of looking at things, as it seems to work for us. My question is still this and always has been this. Why doesn't it work for you?
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 I agree that facts can be spun. very true but you were simply offering an opinion on some countries you thought were the best which is totally arbitrary - the best at what and based on what? Also, definitions have changed so drastically - you say liberal - today's liberal meaning is totally distorted.
You ask me why conservatives think a certain way but you again assume i am conservative which i am absolutely NOT!
NimblePig 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 I am a classic liberal which I am sure is beyond your comprehension. i guess you will google it though and act like you know. so ask a conservative if you want a conservative perspective....i dont know why they believe what they believe.
NimblePig 6 months ago
What type of government, socialist ones? Then why is your country so vastly hated by the rest of the world? Don't say because they're jealous of your wealth and success and incredible schools or powerful army, because that is laughable now. I don't believe socialist countries are dragging the EU down as they are all very similar, and again I must mention that governments like Sweden, Norway or to a lesser extend Canada are not ruining their countries, their countries are arguably the best
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
countries on the planet for the living of their citizens. Thanks to RELATIVELY (not totally as people such as Glenn Beck would have you believe) redistribution of wealth.
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 - listen, 1st you had 4 questions which i addressed with factual data. then, you choose to pick out something u call an inconsistency which was unrelated to ur original post but was a misunderstanding of what i said. so i clarified. next, u want to have a pissing contest about what countries are best. u r a waste of time. u use no facts and only care to be "Right" about something.
NimblePig 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 EU is all socialist so if those principles are not what has put the EU in a terrible financial spot then what has? redistribution of wealth is horrible. If you got strait A's in school is it ok to redistribute ur GPA to those getting C's/D's to make it all even then...is that how things should work? can u tell me why u think those countries r the best other than its ur opinion? look man, ur not makin much sense so good luck. i hope u open ur eyes & stop being a useful idiot.
NimblePig 6 months ago
PS We don't use GPA in Canada, we have percentages. Makes a lot more sense, just another point that makes everybody shake their heads at the US. But that's not really that important. Whats important is that school isn't the last resort, not everybody can get A's because that is not their learning style. These people are often in our armies, building our buildings, in our restaurants, or basically making the gear-shifts of society work. Equal opportunities are provided, but not everybody
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 Jesus man, U R totally missing my point. this is what i mean - i try to discuss things with you and they fly way over ur head and u start talking about silly off topic things like percentages versus grades. it was an analogy man.
Lastly, why r u so angry? If u like where u live and u like those countries then go be happy in ur socialist utopia. what the hell do u care what I think or what the US does? I am not trying to change Canada or tell u what to do.
NimblePig 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 go be prosperous in CA and prove the naysayers wrong man.
and u talk about everyone shaking their heads at the US... i guess if u and the rest of the world have such superior intelligence then u can take it and go run everything the way u want and i will stay in the US if we can go back to true free markets. u can have what u want and i will have what i want. why does it have to b so absolute and again, not sure why u care so much since u r not in the US.
NimblePig 6 months ago
Now hold up now, you simply said that we shouldn't distribute GPA to given everyone A's. For the third time, I didn't say complete even distribution of wealth. I'd say closer than in the non-pure capitalist system or dictatorships would have. Now here in Canada we do not have that as most as 'modern' liberals would like. Our child poverty rate is almost as bad as the US, and the Harper Government has done nothing to act upon it. That is beside the point, Im just trying to say that that is the
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
is unrealistic, archean and could be harmful without you even knowing. US is not #1,
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
and even though they are looked upon badly by us and the rest of the world for your many falters; we just want to co-exist in peace again. I do agree, that we cannot do that with certain people ruining our society, but we don't want to take it and run and give you guys the proverbial cold shoulder. You're complaining to Americans to stop the madness and telling me basically its not my business, but it is.
ThisIsMyFridge2 6 months ago
@ThisIsMyFridge2 well, you have some of my thoughts. again, good luck to you man.

can take the same path. These are widely accepted facts of the psychiatric world.

I didn't say it, the Constitution did. Tell me when was the last time there was a positive change for the people of the United States? Its been war, recession, and bullshit.

America is the country in the western world where wealth is most unevenly spread. Same goes for education.
The dude at the burger joint has to have the instructions for the grill in pictures.
In a lab a few blocks away someone might cure cancer.
America is not ONE thing. It is many countries at once. The elites are peerless. But the army of dummies is breathtaking.
One man, one vote gets morons like Palin on the ticket.

Reason why America is stupid:
1. They thought Obama actually was change
2. Have allowed a two-party dictatorship for more than a century.
3. The banks are laughing their asses off at us and our retarded congress.
JoeDaPlumber 2 years ago 4
Hah, I agree with point 2, but maybe it's time to just cancel the Republican Party and have a one-party dictatorship!
leifey 2 years ago
well the democrats are their enablers. I believe the govt stopped serving the people a long time ago

not all of its citizens but i can surely say the ones who elected bush twice are the ones bill maher is talking about , sarah palin ,sean hannity ,g beck and the whole republican crowd is beyond stupid .
faraz06 2 years ago 2
Maher you did it again, asshole fuckface!(@#$%*!!!)
animal90sFreak5 2 years ago
you mention yourself in the "more info" section that what made america great was ingenuity and innovation. maher has said more than once "what have we done for us lately?" putting men on the moon only took ten years because the whole country got behind it, but it was 40 years ago. things like that don't happen anymore. wars don't count.
americans (and much of the 'free' world) are dumb because they are addicted to convenience and refuse 2 change even tho it's ruining the planet & democracy.
nicknonsense303 2 years ago
I do agree that we need to do more for ourselves. We are able to do this WITHOUT the interference of the government. The people can solve these problems if permitted to. Government does not solve problems. If they just got out of our way we could do amazing things. I do not care about Maher and his position. I use him as a popular figure to draw people into an important discussion. Why defend Maher or any other icon? We need to operate on our own critical thinking skills and principles.

Pompelipom33,
Do you have any facts to back up your position? Is there a poll that you read that states that the majority of Americans do not believe in evolution? Furthermore, is that the final test of intelligence?
I believe in evolution but I do not dismiss others as stupid because they do not recognize it. I do not think people do not believe in evolution rather they do not recognize because it goes against their faith.
RC00058 2 years ago
Yes, americans seams to be more stupid than the average person in Europe. They almost got Sarah Palin and so many of them don't belive in evolution.
Pompelipom33 2 years ago 17

You can't really have progress with folks like the conservatives trying to hold you back on every single issue.
dietsnapple89 2 years ago 18
@dietsnapple89

Independence on foreign county is not a good idea , and we should definetitly abolish the lobbyist ,
