  • I'm British, and I find the historical inaccuracy in this version more offensive than the original was deemed to be. I mean, the other song only tells it how it happened....

  • @dean42bean oh be quiet its a damn good song my you find it offensive ? dont watch it then

  • Convoluted British twist and Horton did it for them.

  • to bad the British did not win because I am British! Dun dun DUUUUNNN!!

  • they never used an alligator as a canon.

  • Puke---This is typical PC--The original WAS NOT These lyics. The original was BANNED from Great Britain(a fact that makes me proud). Who in the HELL did they think "Old Hickory was! He was Andrew Jackson and he despised the British.

  • BP did make a oily good show in the gulf,,,, pay up

  • this dont make no gottdang sense lol

  • Your lyrics were like soo wrong

  • The lyrics you printed are incorrect, it's "There wasn't NIGH as many as there was a while ago". Nigh means near.

  • This is a time capsule, of a mindset... music is a source of creativity and release. I don't attach any emotion to it. It is a history lesson in proof...

I liked hearing my girlfriend sing one verse she knew, so I googled and found out what it was... uh... nevermind.

  • Ya don't insault the british.... they do a good job of that all by them selfs...LOL mate

  • now now were all americans here, its a great continent .we have a rich young diverse history.and because of all of us the world isnt flat ant more

  • Woo!

  • Canada is part of the British Commonwealth because we never went to war with England to obtain our independence like the US did. The British, Canadian born of British background did indeed burn BUILDINGS in Washington including THE WHITE HOUSE. We became a country in 1867. We had our Constitution patriated in 1982 by our Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau. I wasn't gloating, sir, just stating facts. And British or Canadian the USA was invaded by a foreign country. And those are the facts

  • @babe0xxx except it was a welsh highland Brigade that failed to torch washington and the city was devinly saved by a massive storm that grew from out of no where and swept the english from washington and put out the fires with minimal damage

  • Canadians teach about the war of 1812 in school because the U.S. didn't capture Upper Canada (Ontario) and Lower Canada (Quebec) which was their intent. The war was over by the time the battle of New Orleans was fought (see Treaty of Ghent). Also, Canada is the only foreign country to invade (revolutionary) U.S. and burn down buildings in Washington D.C. including the White House.

  • @MsGr8teacher you didn't burn washington - that was all the british ( you didn't get independence until 1982 so don't go gloating about something that happened when you weren't even a country

  • The British keeped a comin. The Americans were stead fast behind a burm they dug. They waited for the british to come to them and the British were decimated and retreated. They ran, not Old Hickory and his boys with Layfette.....

  • The British were the ones who made the first gun - the Lee Enfield. THEY were the ones who educated the world. You owe all your education to the British.

  • @BBoyable dont know about that, the chinese and Japs had hand cannons way back, which were the first guns....

  • @BBoyable dont know about that, the chinese and Japs had hand cannons way back, which were the first guns....

We two nations are the best of friends now. Without our teamwork, the Nazi bastards would be in power now,. Freedom is not only a word, but something won with blood sweat and tears from all.....

  • bullshit

  • this version sucks and is inaccurate to boot. we kicked britain's ass in the battle of new orleans.

  • @CodArk2 Don't insult the British.

  • @BBoyable well its a historical fact, its not disrespect, its historic reality. This song is disrespectful and insulting to americans, calling us "rebels" even though we were an independent nation, acting like the british won the battle of new orleans when they lost and other things. Its not disrespect, its anger at the stupidity of this song.

  • @CodArk2 too bad we won the battle of fort bowyer......

  • @Britainsloyalist some battles were lost, some were won. This song is about the battle of new orleans, a battle the US won decisively. Not only that, its disrespectful to americans by calling us rebels. At the time we were an independent nation. This isnt about who won or lost what, its about the fact that this song is basically changing history so some won't be offended.

  • @CodArk2 yeah but its just a song and it was changed to honour the brits who died at the battle.....America and great britain have been allies since the boxer rebellion and WW2 only strethened it. jonny horton sang this to show there was no hard feelings between the Brits and yanks....and the word rebel is only there cuz its a american song and in US history the war is rembered as the British trying to retake the 13 colonies.but in world history its rembered as the american invaison of Canda

  • @Britainsloyalist I would say that yes, we are allies, and have been since 1900 basically. I can see the point, but there were plenty of british victories to make songs about though. I dont hate or even dislike the british, just the innaccuracies in this song. Most of the world doesnt remember the war of 1812, the US, Canada and maybe Britain do, even then, it was more remembered for the burning of the white house and the star spangled banner.

  • @CodArk2 Well the U.K doesnt teach about the war of 1812 as it is considered a minor war due to it lead to nothing..lol ...but ya..ever heard Jonny hortons "sink the bismark"? thats a good song too

  • @Britainsloyalist It did lead to the U.S. keeping its freedom. I'm glad our countries are close allies now. Someone has to stop the assholes of the world.. Ashes to Ashes, Sand to Sand, Fuck with Us and lose your Land.. We need to stick together, hell look at the Nazi's and Japs, alone neither country mite have one, but together, we kicked ass!!!!!! The French helped, but not much.

  • @Britainsloyalist why did I figure you would have commented on this lol

  • @Warbirdguy1 yes Sean....defending the crown!! lol

  • On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the guns fell silent. Today we remember. Solemn Greetings on this Remembrance Veterans Poppy Armistice Day to all nations.

And for the for Americans/Canadians Please accept my salute on the anniversary of the Battle of Crysler's Farm Nov 11 1813.

  • Never knew this version existed. Interesting.

  • At least we didn't suffer the shame of having our Capital ransacked and the White House torched!!!! Maybe I'll compose a little song about that! LOL!!!!!!

  • @Redcoat66 Hmmm..... Forgetting the battle of britain and the air-raids? Weak! Remember imprisoning Hess, when he came to broker a peace? Bad form! And by the by, we Scotts had our way with you too! "The sun never sets on our empire." Indeed. HAHAHAHA. Go brush your crooked teeth.

  • why would we be running?

    we butchered the british

  • @riseofdixieland13 this song was made to honor the british that fought and died in this battle. neather side ran but the orignal virsion on the side of US it sounded like the british were terrible so he made an alternet version

  • @Spartield

but we did kick their asses

so the song wasn't that far off,

    even if they didn't run

  • @riseofdixieland13 i didnt say we didnt kick there asses. but the british needed something to honor them because the brits there where veterans of the neplonic wars who fell in the hundereds in a single volley on that day. sry for the confusion.

  • @riseofdixieland13 didnt butcher us at fort bowyer .....

  • Packenham was a baffoon!!!! Jackson was a coward!!!!Packenham couldn't have organised a pissup in a brewery, and Jackson didn't have the balls to come and fight. Couple of tossers that cost a lot of brave men their lives.

  • @Redcoat66 Don't see how exactly Jackson was a coward or cost lives

Only about 70 Americans were killed during the fight that Jackson obviously sent his men into

  • @Redcoat66 You slimey limies dont speak German because of, um, lemme see..... The USA. We shoulda let him have you wankers. Then WE would own both YOU and Germany. Stupid tosser! I suggest we (USA) arm Australia to rid Themselves against you syphillis ridden wankers!

  • @didaho At least learn to spell!!!!!!

  • @Redcoat66 PMSL! Is that the BEST you could come up with you tosser? 1 typo? You spell "ass" with an "r" in it after all. As to Jackson costing a lot of brave mens lives, WE only lost about 70 to your invasion. We kicked your arses twice, and we STILL felt sorry enough for you to save you from the huns. By the by, weren't they your allies during our revolution? Ah, the irony: You were weak enough to hire them, and they remembered your weakness. Go sit on your bumbershoot and open it. LOLOLOLOL

  • @didaho Seemed to have touched a nerve here!!!! I have decided to compose a little song called 'The Bladensburg Races". I wonder if J Horton would sing this one! LOL!!! There is one bit about the redcoats passing out from heat stroke trying to catch the Yanks unnin!!!!!! They too ran through thickets that a rabbit wouldn't go....Funny thein war!

  • absolutely disgusting!!

  • "Pakenham" Love the song though!

  • Rebels? The US was an independent country during the War of 1812.

  • @RevengeOfTheKaizer what the reason to make another separated country if the nation is common?

  • @ssnakessnake2 Because we didn't want to be a part of some empire thousands of miles away after being neglected for decades and have to submit to their laws?

  • The original song was a #1 hit in ireland during the 60's, I don't think this version was quite as popular !!

  • Technically by the war of 1812 we weren't rebels anymore. That's what we were called by the redcoats in the revolution. By the War of 1812 we were a sovereign nation so we were no longer rebels. There wouldn't be anymore rebels until Ft. Sumter in 1861!

  • Supposedly the Brit. government banned the original song. Stuck-up & arrogant some Brits are indeed.

  • JUNK

  • honestly, just shut the hell up everyone, its just a SONG,A DAMNED SONG.they know they lost,so we dont need a reminder dipshits.

  • fuck this version

  • This version sucks.

  • bloody yanks..

  • the rebels never advanced, the biritsh went wave after wave to thier doom. Hence the britsh kept on commin........... This is a cheap copycat song, that has less historical accuracy than the original song

  • I was a kid when I heard an explantion for this song during a tribute show to Johnny Horton. Johnny does sing this version as well. While on tour in Great Brittan, the Queen sent a message to him to PLEASE not play the battle of New Oreleans, so he made a different version for that xhow.

  • @irishironhorse that just made me not like him, pussy changed his song and basically our history.... just to please the british, fucking sellout

  • @andrewPHY You can say that again!

  • Fuck You All You REDCOATS

and King George III can suck a dick!

  • booo Brits! America kicks ass!

  • Fuckin Brits.

  • i posted this album on my chanel check it out

  • i liked it but if it was this way we wouldnt have new orleans

  • Yes we would.Remember the war of 1812 was already over when this battle took place .

  • i effing love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why does it say the Rebels ran away? shouldn't it say "WE ran down to the gulf of Mexico"??

  • No the British were in the gulf so they would be running towards them

  • No this is from the Britains Point of View.

The Americans are well our Point of View.

  • @Riurlus55 well, the british were trying to fight like 'gentlemen'. andrew jackson had a bunch of pirates, slaves, freed blacks, native americans, regular kentucky soldiers and was fighting guerilla warfare. packingham kept sending letters to jackson, imploring him to fight like 'civilized' men.

  • @tranurse This is silly. How can war be civilized? War is the most animal, bloody and cruel thing that anyone can do. Who ever is in a conflict needs to fight as he or she can. I say this not because I like the US' wars or because i am on its side. It's just that I think the phrase "fight like civilized men" is vey stupid.

  • @vinury there were rules about fighting, that all gentlemen were supposed to follow. and i didn't say i agreed, just that at that point, what jackson did at new orleans was considered ungentlemanly.
