  • Damn, and here I was hoping this camera would be 1.21 gigapixels, I'm not interested.

  • 3:09

  • Thanks for showing us some test pics

so we don't have to just blindly believe

    what you saying ..

  • Very elaborate ruse Mr Marquardt ;-) You Evil Genius/Crank Yanker

  • disappointingly not real :(

  • Thats such an amazing camera how much do you think they will cost?! This is going to revolutionize the world as we know it! think of all the new information that will be physically captured!

  • awesome!

  • hhahahahah lol

  • high quality troll is high quality

  • I spent the entire video juggling awe and disbelief. You guys are amazing. Great job! I know you'll probably disregard most of the negative comments that come your way, but just know there are a lot of folks out there (myself included) who are totally behind what you did, and are dually impressed. I applaud you, sirs.

  • i was really excited when i first saw this then i looked up their website and they admitted on their site that it was indeed fake. :(

  • April Fools all year long.

    Absolute bullshit.

  • I was one of the field testers and I can assure everyone that this camera works almost exactly as advertised.

  • @from212 So you had the prototype, huh? Lying attention whore.

  • Great job Chris! This was so funny and cleaver!

  • People are ruining this because they are giving the thumbs up to the "it's so fake." Mark that bad boy as spam so it can be hilarious.

  • why is there Rebecca Black on the right side???????

  • thumbs if memebase sent you :D

  • TROOLLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO (Y)

  • Obviously fake. Basic optics theory tells us that the film would have to be made concentric with the lens (assuming the film only captures light perpendicular to it). Producing film and lenses with such perfect curves would not be cheap (if possible). The only way this theoretical film could be flat (as shown) and still work is if it was formed as a Fresnel lens. This would greatly impair the result and make the whole concept redundant.

The amplification thing doesn't make much sense either.

  • What happened to focus? *Every* camera that I've encountered has focus. Some have fixed focus, but it's still there. Your terapixels don't help if the picture isn't focused. Also your range of focus at terapixels is going to be tiny, so you will have one little part in focus with the rest of the picture out of focus.

  • @ComputerGeek000 It's a pinhole camera, which would probably equate to an aperture of f/100 or higher. At that kind of apertures the depth of field will be so great that focusing will hardly be necessary.

  • We...we took picture of things ... human eyes should never see...

  • i loled @ my self after i saw this watch?v=EKLGZ8OwUIw

  • Once again, i want to thank you for making this.

I actually thought it was real.

    I wish it was.

It would be amazing to have something like this.

    Just imagine.....

  • anyone else see the nude chick at 3:05 bottom right corner?

  • @alikababa3 - Yep! ;D

  • I don't care if it's fake. I want one!!! :D

  • lol =) nice joke

  • Even if it's fake, the video looks pretty legit lol

  • Why is Friday in the related videos?

  • @JamesCalex Friday is always in the related videos, I'm not kidding.

  • ahahahah! bullet proof... ahahahahah!

  • You knew it was BS from teh beginning but watched it anyway, amirite?

  • Art of Trolling baby!

  • XD, imagine if this was real. How could you view it?

  • ITS A WITCH!

  • u jelly?

  • I'd never give this camera up

I'd never let this camera down

    I'd never turn around

    And desert it.

  • its no insivible,

it still have that steel in the front -.-

  • @RuneAnime1

    derp

  • wat? No magnets?

  • U mad bro?

  • FRIDAY is always the next video for some damn reason

  • Where can i buy one. My horse is so amazing. I want it terapixelized (?)

  • BURN IT.

  • problem?

  • @darthmadolin I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A FOOT BAWL FIELD WITH MY PIXALZ PLZ

  • you be trollin'

  • @darthmadolin CRAFT OF WITCHES!!

  • trololololol

  • thats the biggest load of shit evar

  • i know this is a troll since rebecca black is on related video list >:P

  • terapixel :))

  • from the website

It's not polarized. It doesn't amplify anything. It's not bulletproof.

Sorry, it's not even a camera.

As much as we ourselves wish it were, the Invisible Camera is not real.

But we are. And our story is... as much as you want it to be.

We thank you for coming along on the ride.

  • Put a German in your prank clip and everybody will believe it. Germans are too serious to prank, right?

  • lol This was awesome.

  • d'oh !!! I've been duped

nice one, however pulling an April fool's prior to and after noon on the 1st brings bad luck. I was ready to put my life savings into shares on this project.

thanks a lot dipsh!ts - and keep up the good work ;)

  • @stevezeeee So any prank is done before april fools -__-

  • Here's my problem...

Why not show a picture taken by the camera?

  • hahaha they even glued a metal thing to the front hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • The site now says that it's not accepting anymore field testers and to return on April 1st. XP

  • 2:50 is probably dubbed. It should sound like: "I contacted a colleague and explained the inventive million dollar fraud I came up with. Once he stopped drewling and realised how stinking rich I was going to make him he told me to bend over and feel his big rod."

  • at 2:58 you can tell the film is a Kodak Portra 160VC from the notch codes

  • If Apple called this "The iCam", and charged US$1.599, people would actually buy it.

I can see the punchline: The world's simplest camera. The world's clearest pictures.

  • april 1st came early

  • Leave the April fools to Philip Bloom. This WAAAY too much effort for a crappy joke. Sorry guys, but this is a fail!

  • did he make this as an idiot finding video, imagine using this vid to screen people for a job. awesome.

  • This thing is waaaay too improbable to be real, but I signed up for the field test anyway for kicks. I know I'll probably see my name on a 'people who fell for it' list after April fools though.

  • Fake & Gay!

  • It's pity that this was uploaded prematurely, as I think that it is a funny April Fools day joke. ;-)

  • TOGTFO

  • Pics or it didnt happen

  • Hahah, special directionally desensitized film? From the notch code it looks like plain ol' Fuji 160C to me. Anyone that believes this is drastically uninformed.

  • Sehr nette Idee

    Gefällt mir gut

  • Fake.

  • Did you know that the electromagnetic energy of the principle of light and the magnetism allows the light to be amplified? Neither did I because none of that makes sense.

  • ISO 1/500; 1/100.000s; f/100+? Terapixel resolution? It's like they're not even trying to make this believable.

  • It's the emperors new camera!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @curtismichael14 You may be right about it being fake but you should at least know what you are talking about. Clear body notwithstanding, this is a pinhole camera. I made one in high school photography. There was a flap over the hole for exposing the film. This camera uses what is called an international film back. The film is exposed by lifting the gate which covers the film

Chris Marquardt is, in fact, a German photographer. He hosts his own podcast and is a guest on many others.

    Regards.

  • @scotty2307 i know, but he said you can expose it in day light all you want, and still get a great image when you put take the photo

i'll make it easier. Its like him saying you can take a 35mm film roll and pull out the film all you want and it wont get exposed, thats what he said but only about slide film

  • @curtismichael14 You said "their is not button on it,their is absolutely no way to take a photo with this camera " (Cut and pasted directly from your comment) I explained that this is a pinhole camera, not a shutter camera, thus, no button.

You said "this is the most phony accent i have ever heard" (cut directly from your comment) I stated that I know him to be German.

I re watched the video, Chris never said a word about " slide film".

I just hope this all has a point if not its disappointing.

  • @curtismichael14 Pinhole cameras don't need buttons

  • my family owns photolabs. this whole video makes no sense at all. the paper would still become exposed because light would hit it at all angles thus exposing it. the iso has been explained in other comments and a terrapixel is currently very difficult to measure if not impossible. can i get one of these terrapixel images.

its also not polarised because it would appear black not clear. as dual polarised glass blocks out almost all light. this is so fake and gay

  • longest punchline EVAR

  • wow! - e

  • It isn't April 1st already is it??

  • Do you guys know what happens when picture gets over exposured.... Then you know what kind of picture its going to be.

  • Good 1 Chris :)

  • @tigers123123

Not just physics, but anyone who's messed around hands-on with manual film photography.

  • @tigers123123 There are many concepts in physics that are left out in secondary school. Just because you can't comprehend it doesn't make it wrong.

  • @DavisDoes

True, but this is way to ridiculous to be true. And I can comprehend more than bullshit in this video :)

  • @tigers123123 I find you lack of faith disturbing

  • being a scientist, i was skeptical about this technology until i investigated the work done by jacques cousteau. he was working on filming in the depths of the ocean in almost total darkness. this is very exciting stuff.

  • @aussie2028

but everything proposed in the video (the slower ISO, the faster shutter) makes it much harder to do anything in the dark. pretending those numbers are correct (1/500th iso, 1/100,000 shutter), a camera would be utterly useless taking a picture of anything darker than an exploding sun.

  • @muki123 I`m sure they`ll make a 5000ND filter for the camera xD hehehe

  • Comment removed

  • they need a blooper reel-i bet those guys spent a lot of time laughing, snickering, and possibly falling over from laughing.

you know, even if that desensitizing thing were possible, any direct light would expose the film.

and all the light coming in through the sides and magically heading straight towards he film would negate any benefit.

assuming this level of bs could have any benefit. maybe they are trying to make diamoonds by sitting on a pile of coal and clenching?

    either way, good joke.

  • lol... Fake and gay. But what is the motive? Humor? A scam? Who knows.

    Is..is this a TROLL???

  • I can't figure out what their motive is for this.

The camera appears to be fake, but they are only advertising a field test for it.

The only thing I can think of is that they may be trying to get name and address information of photographic hobbyists, but this seems like a lot of trouble to go to.

  • that's not how you hold a gossen meter. you're metering your hand and possibly part of your arm. --- if those camera walls had polarization on them, you would see inside but not through to the other side. --- what use is there of 1/100,000 shutter and 0.001 ISO film? on earth at least. photographing the sun up-close, maybe? --- detail isn't just going to keep going up if you keep lowering the ISO. the crystals in the film have to be finer too. --- I could go on

  • off the scale.. HAHHAHA. PATHETIC.

  • at 1:53 i was literally rolling on the floor laughing ^^

  • I only made it to 4.55, such bullshit

  • Bullshit...transparent bullshit :3

  • I. WANT. THIS. CAMERA. OMG im soo buying it!!! hope it doent cost much

  • I think Chris and evil genius / master marketer Frederick van Johnson cooked this up when they got together last month. Great attention getter leading up to the Marquardt International Pinhole Camera.

  • Oh look, it's filled with snake oil!

  • Dang I'll do it!

  • LOL its like the NZT clear pill - limitless

  • lol :D

  • I didn't watch.

  • Sign up 25th... Ship the following week. Arrive April 1st? :-)

  • This is hilarious.

  • He dun goofed! The example images on the site are all in the landscape orientation, but the film itself is loaded in the portrait orientation on the camera. Also the image with the bench has rather limited DOF with focus falling off in the distance on the right side, which is not how a pinhole camera would record an image. FAIL.

  • An interesting Idea, I really do hope it's real.

  • I wish I read that it was a joke before wasting my time watching.

  • It wouldn't sound as good if he wasn't German. If this were an Irish photographer... ;)

  • The emperor's new camera ... totally not there.

  • April Fool's, everyone. Hope you guys weren't excited, I was for a few seconds. :( What's the probability that some guy, looking for a way for paper to capture a certain direction of light that turns out to have the equivalent resolution of10000 megapixels?

  • Comment removed

  • @FStoppers I read it on PetaPixel. Either way it's clearly a joke.

  • what a great hoax! The problem is so many photo blogs fell fro this hoax and published the video.

  • lolwut

  • The giveaway is that there are no examples of the final images. I like the concept of Terapixels!

  • TROLOLOLOLOLOLOL. THIS IS FAKE

  • how exactly can it be april fools if its not even 1st april

  • @d1353lp0w3r "Camera will be released April 1st"

  • @hcoll oooooh yea its fake lol

  • @hcoll curious where everyone is getting this April 1st release? I made that date up on Fstoppers and somehow it's on every blog now...maybe I missed something

  • @d1353lp0w3r well, whoever got fooled before April 1st definitely served the purpose of the Uploader.

  • @d1353lp0w3r Easy answer: they said release date will be one week from friday 25th...and also...if you know a little bit about photography or even if you don't, and just use your brain you'll come to the conclusion that this is just a joke, a very funny one indeed!

  • i'm absolutely mindblown!! is this real?

  • Awesome April's fool, you have a lot of free time and good editing skill...and fantasy.

    I enjoyed it ;-)

Now I'll be waiting to see how many people will believe in this thinking it's real, it's gonna be hilarious!

  • Strange that there's no Sebastian Braun at the Max-Planck institute...

  • what kind of joke is this?

  • Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake

  • 6:11 he can hardly restrain himself from laughing.

  • This is one of the weirdest pranks I've seen, espacially as I really don't see the point of this...

  • the physics dont work that way..

  • lol :D I'm a camera builder myself - this is so funny

  • April fools

  • This look genius, eventhough I got to say that I'm quite sceptic about the principle ! I'm very interrested in testing this system !

If the results are that good, it can be a revolution in the world of photography !!

  • Oh dear.

    You are all incredibly gullible.

  • Setup for an April Fools Prank?

  • This is absolute rubbish, pseudo science, pseudo speak, its is just a joke!

  • Any photos from this thing?

  • Pure awesomeness!

  • low ISO = Higher Resolution..? huh?

  • @jedgarphoto no, but less iso means much less picture noise ;)

  • @jedgarphoto no, but less iso means much less picture noise ;)

  • @jedgarphoto low ISO = less grain = higher resolution

  • Comment removed

  • Fake.

  • Yeah well i am smiling ;) only a few more days ;)

  • This is incredible. I thought my 6x17's with a Heidelberg was high resolution! Film FTW.

  • im blown away

  • My mind is officially blown. Excellent work Chris!

  • what does it take to become a field tester ?

  • hochinteressant. jetzt hätte ich noch gerne eine komplett deutsche version, um auch das zu verstehen, was ich in dieser version noch nicht so richtig verstanden habe... :)

  • That's incredible Chris, can't wait to see some results! That would be ideal for long term motorcycle travel. Sturdy, simple, no batteries. Can't wait to hear more news!
