thats because naturally your looking at the thing that your trying to avoid vice versa why when some guy ripping in front of you as you paddle out doesnt even seem to look in your direction as he misses you by a meter because if he fixed his gaze on you he would hit you.

I as you become a better surfer you will become use to putting your body weight into turns but the turn comes first. turn you head look to spot you want to be first

beginners ever wondered why when you head into the beach riding wave/white water into the path of swimmers about to take somebodys head off why their seems to be some kind of magnetic pull towards them.

How about the most helpful hint of all look in the direction you want to go ?! look ahead to the part of the wave you want to be at you will end up their , example classic bottom turn after popping up you ride down the face of the wave natural momentum will do that ,then look back up to the face of the wave and you body and board will turn that way and follow. sounds too simple I know

if you get an egged longboard or an egged gun(basically same) they are mainly made for just crusing but for a shortboard like around 5' to 7' they're good for turns

I really want to learn to surf n currently bodyboard of the coast of Virginia, damn surfboards are expensive but this coast would be a great place to start learning, no waves and killer undertow (literally killer, people die drug out to sea). Anybody got tips or a place I can get a good yet dirt cheep board to start?

Used surfboards arent that expensive. I just got one for $180 at a surf shop in Ocean City. Its not the best for a beginner. I was going to rent a longboard, but the guy found a shortboard for like $30 more than I would have rented for. Its really fun to ride, though.
