  • ..............quell'attimo di eterno

  • Heart rending beauty.

  • when you listen to sigur ros, thats when you know you're starting to grow up

  • I am Japanese women who lives in Iceland more than 25 years .I love Iceland.

One of big reason is existence of Sigur rós. I am proud of being in Iceland.

Because of them.Their music open my eyes and heart. Their music made me understand what

is art and meaning of it, first time my life. It was not easy to live Iceland with many hardships. But their music always made me happy and encourage me. Start live again , again......... Thank you so much Takk fyrir..

  • More Music, less talking... brings out the purest to our veins!

  • A more beautiful piece of music I cannot recall... The love of sound is as old as the trees. I believe the trees are calling to us all. Will we answer?

  • You can really see how much this beyond words song means to them... im sure many people that night felt and expirienced something truly amazing

  • I love how they immediately take it down again at 07:55 and how he ends on the off note at the very end... just makes you want to listen to the whole 11:13 again.

  • This is one of the best examples of how music is a higher language. To all the ones who complain for not understanding the lyrics, in ANY music, you better start learning how to understand the air.

  • Makes me hungry for life! I love these cats...

  • When I played this my computer started to weep and said in a tiny robot voice "master, I now understand emotion".

  • @n0s1r :)))

  • O_O was my face during the whole video

  • This music is a gift from other world !!!

  • this song has the power to stop wars. isn't it?

  • this band has had such an influence on the way i live everyday. i cant even think of how to begin to put it into words. it makes me mad that i live in america, a country so blind and ignorrant of the power of this style of music.

  • Singing into the pickups... gives me goosebumps every time

  • There are very few songs that I have listened to that I enjoy and will play over and over again and not get tired of listening to this is one of them. I love this song

  • Without a doubt, the essential Sigur Rós/post-rock anthem.

  • !!!!!! wonderful (´;ω;`)

  • We always say... oooh i like this part of the song, because of the solo or something else... but what we can say in this song. Personally i like all the song, Jónsi playing the guitar with a bow, Jónsio using his guitar to sing, drums rythm, bass, and effects and voice this is the song that make you chill. In few words this is PERFECTION! Fuck you Justin Bieber, and try to do a better song. IMPOSSIBLE.

  • It was once an easy decision for me given the choice between going deaf or blind. Then, I listened to the full album, Agaetis Byrjun. I realize now its not just about hearing music, it's about feeling the music. It's about crying because the song is so beautiful I don't know of any other way to react.

  • @LiveADreamRealEstate remember one part... It's about seeing the music as well...! But I will save that for another time..! :)

  • this is... omg

  • i don't know what he say but their music make me chill

  • 100 dislikes!!!?!?!?

  • I love the Beatles, Pat Metheny, Miles Davis, and everyone you can think of in between.... This is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard in my life... Thank you.

  • goosebumps every time I see this, how can anyone dislike this never mind 100 people disliking this? souless

  • @BenjKris probably just people who don't like music in other languages. They're missing out.

  • This is amazing! Is this whole show available anywhere? I think this is the first tour I saw of Sigur Ros, and they just keep blowing my mind year after year...

  • ils ont fumé quoi? ^^

  • jjopwdjpppppppejorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrropwjdwojfopjriohgoprehgpwoehgggggwiogh4ohgoperhgopwhfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffoighioegnioeghorghnbwoibgiorbgio

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • If I am somehow led to heaven, and this music does not exist there, I must regretfully decline my invitation.

  • @djryguy20 Man, there can't be heaven without this music (or all great music) 'cos music (or all great music) is heaven.

  • Ok so i tried to type"iceland sightseeing", the auto finder chose Sigur Ros by mistake wen it got up to "iceland si", im ever so happy how i just discovered Sigur Ros!!!!!

  • @HelterSkelterSOR Do both -- Iceland sightseeing *while* listening to Sigur Rós ;) It's highly recommended!

  • When I hear this, I float in space alone, then I see the girl I like who doesn't know I exist float towards me, then, we embrace in a great firey supernova. To translate: great song. Great band.

  • En definitiva esta canción refleja cómo me siento, hasta cuando trata de no desafinar

  • tengo la tula parada...q hago?

  • this song always makes me cry... but i'm smiling too

  • Aah, imagine being there! The audience looks completely mesmerized by the beauty of it!: )

  • The most beautiful song I know of, out of all songs I've ever heard.:)

  • this song makes me feel so magical inside, when i listen to it, i am transported to a dreamscape occupied by angels and wizards, and when it ends i wake up, disapointed to find i still live in portland.

  • Agreed - they are wonderful!

  • Is that him singing to the guitar and the guitar capturing his voice???

  • @Frambo96 yes, the voice works pretty much as a guitar. In the guitar the mic captures the vibration of the guitar strings, in this case the mic is capturing the vibration of the vocal chords.

  • @fratier (Electric) Guitars don't have microphones...they have pickups and they're activated by magnetic pulses. They capture the vibration of the strings, but not the sound they make...and so, as you don't have magnetic vocal chords, the only way to make the pickup capture "your voice" is to scream so loud that you make the strings vibrate. That's why I asked that question...but maybe this guitar has a mic, I don't know...

  • @Frambo96 yes, you are right, it was my mistake when I referred as "guitar mics" its because in spanish we don't have a word for "pickup", we simply use mic, that's why guitar mic. About the magnetic vocal chords it depends, because on acoustic guitars the pickups are transducer, so it can capture your vocal chords, in this case I think his voice is making the guitar strings to vibrate.

  • 100 people don't know the true meaning of music.

  • My Heart fly away <3

  • This is the best thing ever.

  • Bliss

  • Im Here Again Inside You Its So Good Staying Here But I Stay A Short While I Float Around In Underwater Hibernation In A Hotel Connected To The Electricity Board And Nourishing Tyoowoohoo But The Wait Makes Me Uneasy I Kick The Fragility Away And Shout I Have To Go - Help Tyoowoohoo I Explode Out And The Peace Is Gone Bathed In New Light I Cry And I Cry - Disconnected A Ruined Brain Put On Breasts And Fed By Sleepwalkers
  • @zkbsmith81 Lyrics People's

  • I have everything they have every put to vinyl/CD and it all gives me chills! Thanks for the upload!

  • Love them! Lucky enough to have heard about them just in time to attend their amazing concert.

  • Magic...

  • Jónsi is a far better guitarist than f**king Slash

  • @elephants099 f**k yeah he is!

  • It's impossible to dislike this.

  • Invreible que hay quienes ven los videos de Sigur Ros y vontan negativo...

  • My favorite video ever on YouTube!

  • i never actually thought I would ever be here saying these probably make the most powerful music I've ever seen. Out of all the bands Ive heard, this band must be one of the most original bands out there today. I love how they take rock and just put it in ambient form, something that you don't see very often, or how much he uses the amazing bowed guitar, or even the fact that they don't sing in english makes me love the band (lets me focus on just the music), this band is SERIOUSLY underrated.

  • @MoreParksLessParking - Not underrated by me. Greatest, all time.

  • @MoreParksLessParking listen to Spiderland by Slint

  • @MoreParksLessParking I agree with you completely....! May I introduce you to something along the same lines.... ?!?!!?!?

  • this song makes me want to make love all night long!

  • Sigur Ros, I salute you in Svefn g englar!//I sense a profoundness in your music,//This song, divine, capture the Icelandic spirit//Its distant past, filled emtional aspects afar,//And yet near even in the hearts of our spirits//That now rests like stones upon these peaceful//Shores...and are within the process of progressiveness//A step that will bring about a close of this Age!///

  • how can someone dislike a sond like this???? this is divine... i pity dem..

  • Definitely their best live ever. I never watched before a video in which the crowd seems so peaceful. I love them.

  • 7:35 How do you like those chills?

  • @SpoonHysteria

Even when they are expected. yesterday i listened to them for six hours. just cant help it with chills like that!

  • without tjúúúúúúuúú, I am nothing :>

  • J'adore cette chanson!!!! elle me fais voyager:)

  • For someone to say this song is unoriginal is utter rubbish, the combined hits of this Incredible piece of music alone, shows the effect this particular song/band has on people. There just isn't another song like it,god bless Sigur Ros.

  • @888DMAC

Who would ever say anything Sigur Ros did was unoriginal? If anything that's what this band can stand upon when assholes try to bash their sound. For Christ sake Jón Þór Birgisson is playing an electric guitar with a cello bow and singing in his own created language, how much more unique can one band be?

  • I imagine one day these unrealistic huge speakers will show up all around the world and this song will start playing and everyone just stops what there doing and kneels down and just start holding themselves and one another. And for one moment all stress and anxiety and depression is lifted and we all realize the same thing. That for whatever "it" is. We are all in it together.

  • @coolappsful Best comment!! Shows you really understand. :-)

  • ...Without music, life would be a mistake."

...Music was invented to confirm human loneliness."

...Muisc expresses that witch cannot be said on which it is impossible to be silent."

...A painter paints pictures on canvas,But musicians paint there pictures on silence."

...Music can name the un-nameable and communicate the unknowable."

...in the end i think of music as saving grace for all humanity."

  • Human pride

  • Gay Pride...

Believe it or not, SoBe, Miami's Gay Pride is growing leaps and bounds after it has been "RECENTLY" established! ...3rd year I believe.

  • I went into a completely different world with this song and my headphones on. If felt like i had reached a place where there daffodils, lillies, the color white surrounding me. I felt like i almost died. I had reached a special place. I had almost reached out to it and would've stayed there. My life would've been perfect. When the song finished, i came back to earth as a better human. Wow.

  • gay pride ! ! !

  • @CosmicSPC Why just gay pride?

  • the best 11:13 minutes of youtube!

    Sigur Ros... just wow!

  • on 06:15 is a part i cant stop crying on how beautiful that sound is through the pickup. Its as if the angels are really singing to us. This is so beautiful...

  • @coolappsful

oh wow your comment is so original and funny

  • a bit worried that no one seems to recall that bows were being used on guitars for decades, eg Eddie Philips and Jimmy Page back in the 70's. Not to detract from Sigur Ros' music, but there isn't anything that could be called revolutionary in their music, they're just great songwriters and performers

  • @mesecina1 nobody did it like jonsi did.

  • Comment removed

  • @mesecina1 revolutionary is write a song that makes you go to the moon and come back in less than 15 minutes, its not about the bow that they use to make the song...its about how much they can do with it, this is real music.

  • You have a rather good point, but _any_ song can have high subjective value to anyone, especially one with vague, "meaningful" lyrics. Knowing that, my comment is about the objective quality of the song. The lyrics are nothing special and the melody just as unoriginal. Not that a song needs either of those to be "good," but there really is nothing special about this, although the bow is a novel idea. I'm not trying to say it's bad, just that it's not masterpiece his fans make it out to be.

  • @Codeoftherpg I disagree with that it is objectively nothing special. It is one of the most meditative and hypnotizing pieces of music ive ever encountered. The bow makes a noise beyond description and the voice of Jonsi is a talent of itself. The way the song is composed and pieced together, understated yet powerful, shows mastery. Perhaps you think that because there are no knuckle busting technical feats that it must be objectively average? Have you listened to any other Sigur Ros?

  • @Codeoftherpg there's no such thing as an 'objective quality' of a song. if you don't like, you don't like it. whatever. for me, personally, this song literally makes it hard for me to breathe because i'm so fuckin caught up in emotion

  • You all need to lay off the drugs if you think this song is amazing. It's pretty relaxing, and I understand how differently this would sound live - but if this is all it takes for you to go OMG WOW I CAN FEEL IT IN MY SOUL - then you need to listen to more music. Maybe not so stoned as fuck this time around.

  • @Codeoftherpg you need to speak for yourself and how the music makes YOU feel but you cannot know how other people interpret it. I dont listen to this song on drugs, and I still feel something deep within me 'bloom' so to speak. I understand that you may find this hyperbolic and pretentious and so on but the song may not effect you in the way that it has others. From personal experience, Sigur Ros (and not just this song) has changed my life. Speak for yourself.

  • @Codeoftherpg You should listen to it blazed, then maybe youd like it more :)

  • If you've ever seen this song preformed live you understand how the sound absolutely overflows into the room and overwhelms your senses. I've heard a lot of live music and never experienced anything quite like this. It was incredible.

  • my bad...the beacon and it was fifth or sixth after philly (probably at tower theater?)...sept. 24th.

  • it's a sound somewhere between an airplane engine and a whale call. at least to me :-). i wonder about this date. i remember seeing them in ny at the bowery a few days later (a week?) and i thought that was the first u.s. date they ever played. was kinda subdued but still cathartic considering the date either way...

  • I get chills every time I watch this video. Simply beautiful!

  • MASTERPIECE!

  • When you reinvent an instrument that 90% of the world plays and you pull it off your not even close to good anymore, no... your legendary.

  • why the hell its on suggestions "Miley Cirus" ?? I AM listenning to a MASTERPIECE, no watching porn --'

  • is there something special about his guitar pickups that lets him sing into his guitar like that? I'm gonna try that now!

  • hermosa cancion de sigur ros

  • I look at the upload date and think about them performing this just over a week after such a terrible event, and i just listen and can't believe how there can be such beauty in the world as well as evil. Idk, it just kinda feels like they came to heel the people after 9/11.

  • 97 people actually are not people.

  • This could be better than sex.

  • 満月の夜にぴったり、透き通る音楽。♪自由〜♪と響かせる声がとても気持ち良くて好き。Sigur Rós - Svefn g englar

  • Incredible

  • look up "while the city sleeps - back when we knew", similar big soundscapes and grand crescendos.

  • This is THE song that has made the most lasting impression in my mind. I was on a long trip involving drugs world-wide. But one drug left me so psychotic and paranoid in an asian country that I barricaded myself for weeks and talked to no-one. But the only song I noticed/liked was this one. A TV-channel sent it quite a few times each day. In my psychosis/O.D if of course "understood the lyrics", haha..and they were of course" about me". ( scizophrenia they said on hospital, but it was a drug : )

  • this is my SUPER FAVE s0ng ever from sigur ros!!!! and 97 dislikers are totaly-absolutely tasteless...

  • Simply breathe taking. Lost for words.

  • All the religion anyone needs...least for me, anyway.

  • i cant live without this voice.........

  • The sound his guitar makes at 2:27 is probably my favourite sound in the world, after his voice..

  • @famodamo Yes I know what you mean! That part always gives me chills.

  • @famodamo Agreed, I alway get chills! CHILLS! CHILLS & Sigur Ros is like some of Covert Cosmic Cruisers' chill out music! Such as CCC's mellow "Where's Your Sanctuary?" long version, starts out mellow & then has a chill you throughout your whole body bluesy mellow rock jam that goes on for 20 mintues!

These two bands, CCC & Sigur Ros, are my chill out- take it easy- bands, to get lost far away from the crazed earth to some far distant heaven in. In fact, SR inspires CCC's tunes!

  • @famodamo My favorite sound in the world is the sound my girlfriend makes when i wake her up early in the morning. But this comes in second!

  • @HIValicious fucking 97 now.
