  • dumb

  • Awesome job. That was a pleasure.

  • planet earth turns slowly

  • Ha, makes me wish I had friends who knew how to play drums. =P

  • reminds me of the beginning of hook :) not a bad thing!... great job, seriously you have skill!

  • haha, you look like you're playing asleep in some parts :P

  • Your wicked

  • I like you alot than the other green glowy drum guy :) though he was pretty good too

  • watch at 2:10 Oo

  • This is even better than the original!

  • Awesome job men! What about the snare? Ghost notes so sweet.

    Greeting from Hungary!

  • Fantastic Playing omg!

Drums are a little quiet tho

  • that was really cool man! it was a different kind of cover, buh cool xD

  • Do you play jazz at all?

  • @B33fisGud i've worked on jazz so i understand it and can improvise pretty comfortably in it. but i can't play bebop like the really fast stuff as yet. maybe if i invest a bunch of time into it next year that will change. but im not really a "jazz drummer" though i do like playing open grooves, things where all the layers are always changing.

  • @drumgroovemusic id love to hear some of your "open groove" drumming... jazz is my fav. what about something like Soulive's "first street", or something with a heavy groove over a jazz progression like that?

  • all of your covers are absolutely amazing. and this is by far the best cover of any type on this song

  • @shroomwearsprada wow thanks a lot!!!

  • 6 people were wowed from your talent and accidentally missed the like button. ;D

  • @PersidianTV haha, thats a positive outlook :P, but dislikes are fine. its all opinion. its just nice people are watching my videos.

  • @drumgroovemusic Well I think that usually dislikes are from trolls and other assholes, but maybe there some who just don't like. and good drumming! im also intereted in playing more jazz than rock/metal (what i usually know to play) because this genres are very limited and i feel i need to learn how to groove better from jazz, what do you think? can you give me some advice?

  • how and where do u record?? recording stuff >??

  • @drummerberni1 hi there, i recorded this at my friend rhys' house. he was savvy with the recording side, unfortunately i am not. so i've asked friends who have the knowledge to help me out.

  • Awesome <3

Which pianist did you use by the way?

  • @RDDProductionz thanks! just found an online mp3, will have to try and find out who it was.

  • love the drumming at the start of the second verse :) piano sounds cool too

  • @666blackhearted666 thanks a lot! snare improvising is fun.

  • I really love your playing. You flow nicely all over the kit. And you are loving what you do. It shows. To job.

  • @ArtworkExplainedAPPA thank you! thats great that it shows through, i love playing!

  • WOW this is AMAZING!!! :D i really loved this! great job! you're really talented! such a beautiful song, beautifully played ! :)

  • @MsLKSF wow, thanks for such a kind comment!

  • wow!! reallly nice!

  • @firepod21 thanks!

  • I have a hunch that you're not a metal drummer :p

Seriously though, this is THE best rendition of this song I've ever heard. Keep it up!

  • @Gretsch931 thank you for such a nice comment man, its very encouraging!

i'm not a "metal" drummer because i can't play double bass, but i do listen to the style of music sometimes. there might be a dragonforce cover in the future.

  • Had to go back a couple times just to be sure I saw right...stick click around 2:09 ftw!

  • @playswithpassion haha, yeah, one of the many odd things i do. but hey, its kind of hidden :P

  • Nice work! Do I detect a bit of Steve Gadd influence in your playing?

I'm thinking of doing a keyboard / drum cover of this tune as it's so popular right now (even though I don't particularly like the original song lol) Did you record the piano backing track too ?

  • @Phrase thanks man! yeah i enjoy gadd's playing a lot, its nice that what i've listened to of his playing has come out in this video. :)

  • Damn, thats some spicy groove! Gotta love that hi-hat work. Way better than Cobus's version, IMO.

  • @TehSpetke thanks for checking my video out! glad you liked my version. i think the cool thing about youtube is that you get a lot of different styles to check out. its great what cobus has going on.

  • Wow cool movie, to my favorites with this !

  • @DavinstylePro thanks for watching and favouriting!

  • outstanding!

  • @zoinkpanooley thanks!

  • This is sick! i love the way you use accents on the cymbals as such a major part of the groove! you inspired me to try it.

    Keep this up!

    Wilden

  • @Wildensdrums wow thank you man! go for it! the more you do it, the better you'll get at it.

  • hey man that's amazing

    awesome technique

but do you know where i can get those piano notes ??

    greats from luxembourg

  • @ILIKEARCHERY thanks a lot for the kind words man! glad you liked the video. i dunno where you could get them. i'll ask my friend though, next time i see him. :)

  • @NoSCopes cheers kevin.

  • I live this cover. Is that possible to see more than only 2:37 min.? What will be the next cover? I can't wait to see it:)

  • @chiquita352 thanks for the support! tik tok is the next cover. 4 more to come before i go in to record again. cheers.

  • I love this cover. The idea playing with the piano is great! I'd like to see more than only 2:37 min. Is that possible?? :) What will be the next cover?

  • you really have a unique way of playing !

  • @asdfagadgadfasdfag thanks man! its been a gradual thing but i have tried to develop my own ideas. i think im a bit of an odd person hehe, so maybe thats been a good thing for drumming?

  • @drumgroovemusic lol, probably, but keep it up anyways

  • Hey man! You're drumming is awesome! I love it from the first time I saw it. The way you play... If i had to choose between you and Cobus, i'd choose YOU! You play with soul. How long have You been drumming? And what's Your set? Greetings!!!

  • @chiquita352 thanks a lot man! i really try to play that way. I've played 9 years. My set is pearl session birch drums 12, 14, 22. yamaha maple snare. bosphorus rides(traditional and new orleans) and hats(trad light) and sabian crashes(HHX evo).

  • The way you hit the drums looks like the video is being played backwards! You are very tallented though, this was amazing to watch! Thanks for uploading!

  • @iDoNotDrum thanks for watching tryston! haha, i watched the video again and yeah it does kind of look like i play backwards. its good to play loose.

  • this is really cool

  • @lillivb it was really fun to play! thanks for watching.

  • Very nice! Thanks for posting.

  • @DrPheelGoodman thanks for watching!

  • Great Dynamics!

  • @DeanIgnacio thanks jacob!

  • hey i really like your way of playing drum. nice videos ;)

  • @ehleknedrik thank you! hopefully there will be a lot of variety of ideas across my videos.

  • Sick grooves. I also like your editing at 2:11, very sneaky.

  • @clazau haha you noticed? yeah there was actually an extra middle section. but it was only 8 bars of a backbeat groove so i ended up cutting out. going rather for a shorter but probably groove-wise, more interesting version.

  • great job man, this is just a guess but i bet youve done alot of jazz studies, maybe in college? I love throwing in accents on the off beats during steady rock beats

  • @chuckhegwer syncopated grooves i agree are really fun to play! i haven't studied jazz at a school or with a teacher. but i've used books and listening to records to try and be able to play that style. constant work in progress but the jazz books by john riley are great.

  • Very nice !!!! =D

  • @182JeanJean182 thanks man, appreciate your support and comments on my videos!

  • like the style

  • @salmpsalm thanks man! the piano creates a nice vibe to play too. let me use a lot more cymbal ideas that might not have worked as well with the original tune.

  • You got a great technique good job dude

  • @brandondrum27 thanks a lot brandon!

  • i can only hear the piano. :S

  • @LBird44 well the piano track is pretty amazing, so that must be nice for you. lol

  • What kind of mic system are you using? How are you mixing it and how do you sync it with your video?

  • @blake32489 the mics are a friends, they do a nice job but they're not fancy. 2 overheads, snare, bass, both toms. the levels of my own playing were adjusted to match the original audio track.

i import the video file and studio audio file into a video editor. line up the studio recorded audio with the camera audio so it matches exactly with the video. then delete the camera audio and render it as a new video. then just upload.

  • Dude your groove and dynamics are awesome. Great job.

  • @PAINTBALL55 thanks man! i love playing with ghost notes. always cool to use them in simple grooves where you can be creative with them but your ideas aren't on top of the music.

  • very interesting take on the song. love it!

  • @nddl05 thanks man, yeah it turned out that a lot of different groove ideas worked for the song.

  • EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tileyuk i love to play, really happy it shows in this video. thanks for watching!

  • What kind and model of sticks are you using? :)

  • He's using Vic Firth's.

  • @gibsonlespaul2 hey man, thanks for checking out the video. i'm actually using pro mark 7a wood tip sticks.

  • Oh, Thanks for the correction! Very good arrangement. 5*

  • This is actually cool. The real song is a piece of poopola but you added a real groove to it. Good job, dude!

  • @tyrannicalreign thanks a lot! it was fun to be creative around the piano melody.

  • amazing vid.xD

  • @sexcndkrazi thanks a lot!

  • this is just an awesome drum cover, I love it!

  • @Felixhallo thanks for the kindness felix!

  • great cover! but make sure you keep your sticks upside down while playing rimshots ;)

    keep up the good work!

  • upside down while playing rimshots? wha chu mean?

  • @thedrummerfinch Hold the small end,

Dont know why thats needed, sounds fine otherwise too

  • @HellfireGenius lol yeah i understand guys play with the butt of the stick but i play the other way because its easier to then go straight to a backbeat or fill. for me anyway.

  • @wkzazu thanks for the suggestion.

  • simply great!

  • @skurre99 thanks man!

  • that was sick :) you made me love the song xD

  • @pinoyboii13 thank you! nice that you enjoyed this version.
