Star Trek IMAX Movie Review - Opening Night Fan Reactions

Hated this movie for reasons I've said a thousand times before(only scene I really loved was the opening, was pretty good up until the crash) But the actors did a great job, they just didn't have a script to work with. If I end up seeing part 2, I wont be paying. The only thing that can redeem this movie(series of movies, whatever), is if in the final sequel, they 'fix' the timeline back to the original somehow. (Hell, bring in John DeLancie and just have him snap his fingers at the end lol)

I loved the Star Trek movie. However I have a fear that the writers could do a Transformers 2 on us.

Still looking forward to Star Trek 2 though.

No one has left you a comment in a few months so I will leave one now. I love this movie to death. I was cheering when the "new" Enterprise was finally revealed because we have seen the cast or most of it at that point so now it was time to reveal the leading lady herself in all of her badass glory. And Michael Giacchino's score was off the damn charts, how the hell that didn't get an Oscar I'll never understand. In a way I do kinda agree with the guy about the "time travel done to death".

@thisisrumorcontrol Time travel has been one of the important plot devices in the Star Trek universe and its brought us many great films and episodes. It would have been nice to see a new film without that idea being used but when you think about it how else would you tell the story fo the origins of Kirk, Spock and the crew. Had time travel not been used, the movie would have felt like it was ripping off the Star Wars prequels, and you really got to be lacking ideas to rip those films off.

But this movie was so badass, I watched it in the theater, rewarch it on netflix on my itouch and again on netflix on my ps3....

They need another great star trek movie. Or great space movie....

I bought Star Trek movie last night and I'm watching the movie tonight with my mother and Star Trek was an awesome movie containing alot of intense action sequences! I watched Wrath of Kahn yesterday on DVD and then I bought the 2009 Star Trek movie last night! I even love to play Star Trek in my attic and I also love watching the original series! John Cho was an amazing Sulu! I was going to see it in IMAX but it was olnt playing at night! I was pissed! Live long and prosper!

The best thing that happened to The Dark Knight's box office was "HEATH LEDER DYING."

Period.

Had Ledger not died, TDK would not have made as much money as it did its opening weekend.

It would have done well, but not nearly as well as it did after Ledger died.

The media also wouldn't have hyped his performance as much as they did after he died.

There was a lot of sympathy praise heaped on his performance and the movie, because Ledger was well-known and likable.

Well as far as his performance goes I thought it was really good, well, its more like Id never seen ledger do anything like that, other actors have, but not him, in fact when I heard he was gonna be the joker I thought to myself "wut?! that guy who was a homo in his last movie?" but after I saw the actual performance I was pretty impressed

Whether or not his performance was outstanding has nothing to do with the fact that him dying made the media hype the film up even more which made even more people want to see it, therefore, its record-setting box office selling out the first two weeks before the movie was even released, was almost COMPLETELY related to the fact the Heath Ledger died. The movie was good enough to maintain it, but him dying started it.

Anyone who won't acknowledge that is being intellectually dishonest.

Definitely, right.

No one is saying they are happy that he died, because I am not. Ledger was 2 months my junior (birth class of 1979 representing). After losing Aaliyah in 2001, who I absolutely adored, Ledger dying was even more sadder for me.

But, still, the truth is the truth. His death was a publicity bonanza for The Dark Knight, and even though the studio won't admit it because some simpleminded people would think they are happy about it...

...they know it's true, too.

Im no Star Trek fan, but I am definitely seeing this movie for 3 reasons:

1. Its trailer looks awesome.

2. Its taking place before any of the other ones so I won't have to worry about not understanding things.

3. J.J. Abrams = my 2nd favorite director ever (sorry Abrams, you can't top Lucas). I have always been a huge fan of Lost, and Cloverfield was epic. Never could get into Fringe though.

If you gave it a five and some random dude gave it an improper fraction I'm going to see it asap.

did u know : that there was a pokémon episode that was banned due to several flashes...it caused 700 children in japan to have seizures...

LUL. That's pretty irrelevant. Lens flares aren't they same sort of flashes that were used in Electric Soldier Porygon. In that episode, they changed colors rapidly; it's more of a strobe effect than anything. So I can understand why it gave Japanese children seizures. However, a lens flare would not have the same effect, even on Pokemon's young fanbase.
