What he says is very true. I work for a large agriculture company and to this day I have never seen a white person out there picking the food we eat. Most people picking either have green cards and are here from Mexico and South America some don't have papers at all.

In my sisters job 4 years's ago she told me everyone was noticing that the employer was firing people that have been there for 25 -30 years the excuse they had was the company's business was slow ,so they had to "layoff ''some worker's to put it nicely (american's) next my sister notice some illegal's were hired. This is because American politicians are representatives of the upper class and could care less about unemployment, low wages, or other problems that workers have. Both parties are interested in protecting and supporting corporate profit.
Several of these people were unemployed as a result of construction employers hiring illegal aliens. One gentleman from the senators home state of arizona informed the senator of if and also that at his wife's place of employment, the employer was terminating american workers and replacing them with workers who held visas. It was then that the senator offered the guy a job, set the conditions, rescinded the job offer and insulted everyone. He was booed several times. I lost respect for him.

What he says is very true. I work for a large agriculture company and to this day I have never seen a white person out there picking the food we eat. Most people picking either have green cards and are here from Mexico and South America some don't have papers at all.

He was inspired by McCain's remarks to work in several industries such as picking lettuce to see how it really was to work there. He only made $8.82/hour picking lettuce. In my sisters job 4 years's ago she told me everyone was noticing that the employer was firing people that have been there for 25 -30 years the excuse they had was the company's business was slow ,so they had to "layoff ''some worker's to put it nicely (american's) next my sister notice some illegal's were hired. But working on the field is not the same as lifting lettuce. Field work is hard even if you work with lettuce. Not that I agree with McCain, but it is true that it is not a job that anyone could do. People from the city have soft hands that will hurt after a day in the field, just to mention one aspect of the work there.

Several of these people were unemployed as a result of construction employers hiring illegal aliens. One gentleman from the senators home state of arizona informed the senator of if and also that at his wife's place of employment, the employer was terminating american workers and replacing them with workers who held visas. It was then that the senator offered the guy a job, set the conditions, rescinded the job offer and insulted everyone. He was booed several times. I lost respect for him.

He's not disparaging blue collar workers. He's making a point. A lot of Americans wouldn't 'dare' do a job like that - but mostly because those workers who pick lettuce don't get $50/hour. Most people with decent salaries at white collar jobs don't even get that kind of money. He's saying even if we paid you a lot to do it, you wouldn't. Because the trend is that most Americans don't want to think of themselves as 'blue-collar'. Many feel ashamed of being blue collar today. Definitely sad.

nope sure don't but that doesn't mean that because of that I'm not allowed to see who picks and who doesn't. Growing up my dad was a field worker and was a crew leader in fields and not once does he recall any whites coming across asking for work. He had asians, indian, mexicans, I mean all kinds of minorities but never whites... hmm I wonder why... and to this day their not out there. But freaking welfare lines are as long as they can get right?
