The Halloween Train on the other hand is a far more open event of many nationalities and it doesn't discriminate unlike many of its critics.

They caused damage, were being disruptive, got criticized on the news, and were fined a good bit.

The people there gathered from any number of countries, even a good number of Japanese, and yet they all get lumped into one group, Americans. I'm pretty sure we can all agree what they did, although cool and a lot of fun, was illegal. The 2007 estimated population of America is approximately 302,721,000. The people on this train hardly make up a percentage.

The main problem people, non-Japanese, have is not with the actual behavior or even with the gathering, but instead has to do with the Japanese anti-gaikokujin reaction. The racial profiling going on here and on other boards is outrageous from a global unity point of view, and it is tough to believe that even the Japanese can stomach such hate.

The Halloween Train on the other hand is a far more open event of many nationalities and it doesn't discriminate unlike many of its critics.

Im sorry, but the term "gaijin" isnt acceptible in public, which is why the Japanese givernment, Japanese media and other official channels use the term "gaikokojin". My grandmother calls blacks "coloureds" and in the UK, we call Chinese and other people who look similar "Oriental", which is unacceptible in the USA. "Gaijin" has a history of racism besmirching it, thus making it unwise to use in a general public environment, like here.

"Gaijin" isn't always used as a prerogative term. Shortening words is a common thing in Japanese. It depends on how it's used. When it's used negatively, it's being used as 人でない者.
I use 'gaijin' when referring to 'gaijin power' that some foreigners love to abuse. Some of the guys I would see would act like such jerks, just because they knew they had a better chance of getting away with it since they were foreigners. Bad apples I tell yah.

first of all, its normal for most people to speculate that the problems were caused by foreigners mainly since theyre the main people you see on the video. secondly, it doesnt matter what race you are, the fact that these people were vandalizing the train, drinking in public, disturbing the peace, indecent exposure in public, etc. all of which are unacceptable behavior in general. thirdly, it was the foreingers in Japan that organized so more responsibility would be placed on the foreigners

They would mention it. If you've noticed, Japanese news is real slow sometimes. Like if someone gets shot in Tokyo, it's not a surprise if it's mentioned on the news in Hokkaido. Or for example, there was a report about a couple Japanese youths ruining causing a problem at the coming of age ceremony/event for them and many others. They caused damage, were being disruptive, got criticized on the news, and were fined a good bit.
