  • SAWEEEEET! :)

  • this is the best version i have found. heart felt, truly devotional. thankyou.

  • absoluntely beuatiful however their not english, if they were they would be singing in a english accent

  • Do you happen to know which arrangement of this song they used?

  • Love this song. GREAT job Choir.

  • WOW! The Bass & Tenor sections; then too, the ladies; outstanding!

    from a 2nd Bass.

  • great performance

  • I don't believe but I effing love this song!

  • oh yeah and i love this song, beautiful!

  • all religion is man made!!all early civilizations created them as myths, as a way to try to understand the world & themselves at a time when knowledge & self awareness were in their infancy. Many of these myths are beautiful examples of early man seeking understanding. We see creation myths or religion in middle east, europe, south & north america, asia, australia, africa etc. this tells us a lot about man and his need to feel safe in the face of certain death and nothing about some imagined deity! xxx

  • Thank you for your prozac induced thoughts. Real nice. Thats just great. Man was self aware 2000 years ago, dingbat.

  • Although I am not Catholic ( I am Pentacostal) I believe (God made flesh) Jesus came to save us all. He doesn't want us to fight he even said so. He wants us to stand united in Him. No matter our up bringing He is and always will be there for us until the end of all time. "Whosoever believeth in Me..."(Jesus or Emmanuel, Prince of Peace, and Son of God all names mean the same God made flesh.) A Gift given to us: ALL MEN by The Most High our Heavenly Father who does not want us to fail...Amen

  • Jesus was referring to the one true Church, the Catholic Church. Remember, The 12 Apostles were Catholics. Men can make up religions, but there can only be one true Christianity, and that is the Roman Church.

  • Ask yourself what nationality of the earth persecuted jesus? And what is the name of your religion? Precisely.

  • You're not making sense here. The Hebrews. But I would call them members of a religion, not a nationality. Nationalism only really pertained to the Romans at this time in history, so you can deduce that the Hebrews were really Romans or under Rome.

  • the Bible says that the true religion is visiting the sick and jailed and taking care of the widowed.

catholic church and so on are all sects and not religions

  • The Catholic Church is the Church, It is Christianity, the only one.

    Get it?

  • No, He wasn't, Jesus was referring to Peter's statement of faith because moments later Peter is called "Satan."

  • it sounds lovely...;)

  • Beautiful!

  • Um, most churches sing the same hymns. It's not uncommon at all.

  • There is nothing controversial about the hymn so what's the problem. Praise God.

  • there is no problem

  • They`re singing it because it sounds good to them. We Catholics sing it whether it sounds good or not.

  • I was just gonna yap about that. Hey, they took Jesus from the Catholic Church, so it doesn't suprise me in the least.

  • Jesus doesn't belong to the Catholic Church. Jesus came to earth to redeem ALL, not just those of certain denominations--which didn't exist at the time, BTW. Following your logic we Christians took God from the Jewish people. After all they had him first, right? You need to think before you spout nonsense.

  • Look, lady, I cant lie to you. The very first denomination was the Roman Catholic Church, founded in 33 AD by Jesus. He only established one Church. You need to face reality. You can still be redeemed!

  • I never said it wasn't the first. People broke away from it because they didn't like being told what to do by self-righteous jerks like you. Jesus didn't like the self-righteous either--you need to face that. Don't bother to answer because I really don't care.

  • Lady, There is only ONE Church. Even the Bible states Church in the singular. Why are you calling me a jerk? I am just telling you the truth. All others are false sects, founded by men.

  • 1staccs & everybody,

The word "catholic" when spelled with a lower-case "c" means ecumenical or universal; as in catholic faith = universal Christian Church.

However, when spelled with a large-case "C," the the word "Catholic" takes on a whole different meaning -- as in the Catholic Church and later the Roman Catholic Church; certainly not universal.

As, not in fellowship with other Christian churches - even though all profess faith in Christ.

  • I just went to wikipedia, and The Universal Church, the Roman Church is classified as pre-demoninational. Meaning, it was the ONLY Church and is the ONLY Church. I invite you to go to your local Roman Church that celebrates the Latin Rite.

  • catholic [ˈkæθəlɪk ˈkæθlɪk]

    adj

    1. universal; relating to all men; all-inclusive

    2. comprehensive in interests, tastes, etc.; broad-minded; liberal

[from Latin catholicus, from Greek katholikos universal, from katholou in general, from kata- according to + holos whole]

    catholically , catholicly [kəˈθɒlɪklɪ] adv

  • You still have a chance to become a part of the one true Church.

  • 1staccs,

Redeemed? By who? Those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior ARE redeemed -- that happened when He said, "It is finished." Christ's death paid the sin offering of everyone from Adam to the last person who is born just before the Last Trumpet sounds.

Now, if a person chooses not to believe in Jesus Christ, then they are damned. John 3:36; Mark 16:16.

  • That would seem to be in contrast with a number of beautiful passages wherein Christ speaks of actions of decency and love being the most important thing. Pretty sure you are off base there, damning everyone who may not accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. And it isn't up to you anyway. Wouldn't it be lovely if people focused as much energy on being kind and decent to each other, rather than deciding who is going to hell because they differ in how they express themselves as a Child of God?

  • @ChristineInVanAlstyn I understand your position. I had many doubts in my past. But take caution from what is being said. Read the Bible with this in mind. God never ceases to love us. But, he has zero tolerance for sin. We are already condemned. All he requires is that we admit our sinfulness and accept the terrible price of His grace given to us by the death of Christ Jesus and the glory of His resurrection. In that way we obey the command to love Him with all our heart, mind & soul.

  • Exactally. You are right.

  • I'm by no means a religious man, but for some reason, I do like religious music and this piece is one of them I do enjoy.

  • the Uncaused Cause, the intelligent designer, the one that is God, who triumphantly beat Satan to the ground and cast him to eternal damnation. Satan doesn't care about you or anyone, he just wants to take people away from God

  • beautiful, *hugs* :)

  • 2. I, the Lord of snow and rain,

I have borne my people's pain.

I have wept for love of them.

    They turn away.

I will break their hearts of stone,

Give them hearts for love alone.

I will speak my word to them.

    Whom shall I send?

  • I have always loved the music of the St. Louis Jesuits. This is one of John Michael Talbots bests and most moving songs he ever wrote.

  • Dan Schutte, actually...

  • My error. You are absolutely correct. For some reason I have always got the 2 mixes up. Thanks for the clarification.

  • I just happened to be on the Dan Schutte website last night and this was touted as his most famous song. I wasn't trying to be a smart alec or anything. God Bless!

  • Wow- our church choir sang this arrangement too, but there weren't that many of us. Good job.

  • A calling for every Christian. Wonderful voice.

  • I attended a Catholic's mens conference with family (though I am not Catholic) in Cincinnati a few years ago. We all sang this song. The sound and feeling of a coliseum full of men singing this song was amazing!

  • I did'nt know baptists sing this song too

  • and why not!!

baptists send a lot of missionaries to the whole world to evangelize and spread the gospel of the lord Jesus Christ.. The true essence of the song is the action itself..

  • you have a good point. Now i understand any song of the lord is good for all religion

  • yah.. thanks.

  • Beautiful, this hymn is one of the most beautiful pieces ever written, one of my favourites..I am a member of the St. Joseph's choir, here in my local parish..and we often take this piece..the harmony and the SATB voices here are a tad different from what we do..but this is so much better and ethereal! especially the verses..makes my hair stand on end...truly magnificent..

  • Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Brought chills to me and probably the best version I've heard to date.

  • i also agree

  • yah it is!!

  • i put this video online cuz i need to hear it over and over again since i have to memorize it, but it truly is a great song :)

  • I've sung this song so many times over the years I have it memorized! :) It is a great song. Great message.
