Fugs - Crystal Liason

About 1967 we went to the Player's Theater in the Village to see the Fugs. Unique for their time, and any time, the songs were performed for shock value and they were very effective. Funny, weird and not like anything before or since. Political, pornographic and hilarious. I had three of their albums on the ESP Disc label back then. Ed Sanders wrote a huge volume on Charles Manson, very well done. There were some "reunions" of the band in Woodstock over the years.

I didn't know about this band nothing except I heard a few times "Fucking-A man" in 90s. Anyway, I thought the band might be related somehow to Lou Reed, Ginsberg and beatniks - and they were! - thanks to fugn internet jesus n' Wikipedia etc.

OMG - it looks like this was recorded on 1/2" video with burned-in time code. Loved 1/2" - that's what I learned to edit on. Love the look of the headswitching at the bottom of the screen. Loved The Fugs - great song.

found this album in 95,made an impact to my library,to that point damned and crass had an abstarct feel,this takes the cake,i think that exorcism 5 on fugs titled is best'out demon out or tune in............still have the vinyl,will keep it when the first is repealed...?!

The ultimate definition of an artist is one that creates his art and doesn't care what others think. This band was so far ahead of their time and very brave for the time period they began in. They sang about the things that were very relevant in the time it was presented. Listen to their song "Wide Wide River" wherein they talk about us spending $15,000 a second, snuffing gooks! I discovered them in the '60's and was totally impressed by their gutsy craziness. Golden Filth=best album ever

I always thought of the Fugs as mainly a political band or a poetry band. They were great fuckin musicians too. The vocals, the guitar solo and that insane drummer were incredible and yeah Jethro the go go dancing by Tuli , may he rest in peace, was just perfect. Man am i sorry i never got to see these guys live.

I began singing CCD lately after I married a tiny little Russian medical doctor. She is 5'0" and 100 lbs. she fit the song like a glove. Her little poon was so tasty and beautiful and would squirt like I had never seen before. It snapped like a turtle, just like the song says. She is tighter than a ten-year-old and by far anything I have ever ran into. I have only dated petite little women my entire life and nothing came close. She is a freak of nature at 44 and the body of a 24 year old.

Verey funny and poetic in their way. And I like the 5 first albums..... no 6 first ones: "Belle of avenue A" is good too! When I heard the "First album", it was soooo funny!!! "Nothing", "Super girl", "I couldn´t get high"- and all those songs= Great!

Fabulous. Saw Fugs a bunch of times during the long run at Players Theater in the Village. Tuli Kupferberg "played" the Erectorine, a long rude shaft with a variety of unusual ornaments hanging from it., some of which made a tambourine-like sound. We drove in from the Jersey suburbs, had some beers and pizza on Bleeker, and thought we were progressively hip and anti-war in the company of Sanders-Kupferberg-Weaver. Tuli's hilarious 1001 Ways to Beat the Draft was my bible...until I got drafted...

@MrBrianlowdown Oh, we all went to 'Nam (except for me: rode out the '60s stateside in an air defense unit - the VC and NVA had no air - in Texas). All but one of us - and there were many - came back, some wounded, some psychologically scarred. Not a happy time.

Fugs were before. Life came later, suddenly, with a vengeance.

It Crawled Into My Hand was one of the top 3 albums I ever had. My band even played Johhny Pissoff Meets the Red Angel....but not at high school dances, heh.

Fair enough. I'm not crazy about the Reprise albums, but "Johnny Pissoff" is the definitely the highlight of that record. I prefer the rawer ESP Disk albums though. .. especially the second one, which I think was the Fugs' recorded peak. Wish I'd been around at the time to see them live.

The guitar player looks like Ken Pine who played with Jake and the Family Jewels somemtimes and the Quinames Band. He was a really talented player - world class. And I think that is that Charles Larkey on bass. He used to play with a group called the City - fine group.
