@MsFriedchiken I understand where you're coming from, but if you're going to bring something like that up. Do it somewhere else. Not everyone wants to hear it.
@BigBrueser at the end of the day the 49ers went to the NFC championship game and rodgers went one and done Alex smith just needed confidence he has it now rodgers would of never fit into the system of the 49ers hes a system QB remember Matt flynn.
@TheJewballer Yeah but who has a ring? 6 years of shit from Alex Smith and wins one playoff game....Still would have taken Rodgers over Smith...Imagine Rodgers and the SF defense together, Thats a Dynasty team right there.
@BigBrueser you would think it would be a good fit but then at the end of the day you take rodgers off the packers they're still 15-1 take alex smith off who knows but we do know one thing rodgers does not make the packers unlike Peyton Mainning and Drew Brees Brady has showed that without moss he is still good so I don't think cassle would do good again even though matt is already a great QB
@americasnextopm0del true, however no one projected him to get drafted at all let alone 24th overall. rodgers was projected to be drafted top 5, but fell considerably. Brady on the other hand came from a weak QB class of 2000 so it wasn't expected of him to go early at all.
@americasnextopm0del comparing apples and oranges. Rodgers was at radio city in front of the tv cameras projected possible 1st overall dropping with all the cameras on him. brady was projected 3rd round, fell to 6th, which nobody noticed until a couple years later when he became a star qb.
@goldensurfer16 Rodgers has only been around a few years...Brady has been here for 12 years. So obviously Brady has had more time to have more success. Rodgers has still done an amazing job, and had an overall better season than Brady
@hitdoctor24 Brady won all his Super Bowls in as many years as Rodgers has been in the league. Also I would say getting to the Super Bowl is an overall better season, he also had more yards
@hitdoctor24 I was saying that you said Rodgers hasn't been in the league as long but Brady had already won his Super Bowls in 4 years, Rodgers has been in the league 7 years now. He has had the time Brady had but hasn't done as much.
Its funny to listen to all the players who went ahead of Rodgers that year. Most of those guys have had decent careers so far....Ronnie Brown....Braylon Edwards...Cedric Benson...Cadilliac Williams...Adam "Pacman" Jones?! 4 of those guys have had one or two decent years as Fantasy Football options....Pacman has been suspended from the NFL more than a few times. Alex Smith, only now, is playing in his first NFC championship.
So first San Francisco 49ers passed on Tom Brady who wanted to play for the 49ers and was a huge fan, and drafted Carmazzi. Then they also passed on Aaron Rodgers who was a big 49ers fan and drafted Alex Smith instead. Sucks for them :(
@thuggs68 hahahahaah You're joking right?? Rodgers has Heart as well. And his underpaid for how he has performed the last few years and for winning a Super bowl and SB MVP. He was asked about getting a new contract and he said that he signed a contract and he would live up to that contract and not ask for more money. Not about the money With Rodgers.
@JRM2521 I agree with everything you said except the underpaid thing. ALL pro athletes are extremely overpaid. I still root for Rodgers though hes a good guy and great QB.
@Designedbydeath Well I should explain myself.. I actually think they are paid too much as well. But Comparing to League average salary, He is Underpaid haha
@ka92010rock Actually according to Tom Brady, he said he left the draft conference after round 4 and walked around the block with his father thinking about the support they given him and how it would've ment for nothing. He produced tears thinking he failed in front of his parents and it's still hard for him to talk about it today. So he did more than complain, he felt ashamed to try for the draft. Aaron Rodgers was the same only he was expected to be picked in the top ten, they doubted him.
To me the selection of Aaron Rodgers in 2005 was the most brilliant draft pick decision ever. You have iron man Brett Favre playing good winning games showing no aging and you decide to draft a QB...for really no clear reason.
Then that QB you drafted takes over and wins a super bowl in just his 3rd season starting...then in his 4th year he is MVP with one of the most insane seasons by a QB ever leading the team to 15-1 and is HOF bound,
San Francisco OMG. this might be one of the most idiotic decisions ever. Imagine Rodgers in present day San Fran with that MONSTER defence. at least 2 SBs. Sheesh. Thank heavens it didn't happen.
@dollarstore. Take Tom Brady off the patriots. Brees off the saints. Calvin Johnson off the lions. Manning off the colts. Arian foster off texans. Ray rice off ravens. Tebow off broncos wait Jk lol every other team had the chance to take Nelson, Jennings, driver, Finley, jones, Cobb. And obviously you never watched a packer game. Grant does not play well consistently. Teams draft players for a reason and your team just passed on those players. I'm glad they have all those weapons
@arkbishopbonkerboy Brett Favre is well documented as hating rodgers, and did not mentor him at all because, "it's not his job." watch the espn:60 piece on Rodgers to see what it was really like.
@dollarstorePWNRlol to be fair most of the game he had Rodgers in his ear and also yes Matt Flynn is a really good QB and the packers do have a great offence but anyone can destroy the Lions.
@GNRule123 Dan Orlovsky had Peyton Manning in his ear, why didn't he do well? And don't say Rodgers is a better football mind than Manning, no one can top Manning in that category... like I said Rodgers has weapons out the WAZOO, u take them away (see Kansas city game)
@dollarstorePWNRlol Four reasons. the Lions suck, Flynn is better than Orlovsky, Rodgers had a bad day and we lost 2 Offensive linemen from a makeshift line and finally, of course Rodgers is good with his receivers not because they are the top 4 receivers (which they're not) but because Rodgers is able to throw balls to the that benefit them the most E.g Nelson goes deep a lot because he is able to loose his marker and out run a lot of CB's
@GNRule123 1. Lions are in the playoffs 2. the packers offense is loaded with weapons 3. Rodgers didn't have a bad day the cheifs secondary pressed guys on the line and essentially "took" his weapons out of the game. Greg Jennings is a security blanket for Rodgers and when he got injured he couldn't do shit to a kyle orton led chiefs squad, which shows that he needs his big physical receiver to do well. 4. Donald Driver, Jordie Nelson, James Jones, and Jennings could all be primary targets...
Mmm, they should wait like 10 or 15 years before continuing the America's Game series. Now,, the story is told just a year after it all happened, and it loses the emotional charge it has when looking back. Good for the money, though.
Rodgers was literally in the 49ers back yard and wanted to play for them. Too bad the coach at the time thought Rodgers style and personality would clash with his.
people are no doubt comparing the prospect of Luck/Manning to be similar to what GB had with Rodgers/Favre... difference being Aaron fell to GB and the could afford to build a defense whereas Indy will need to service 2 huge salaries and find a way to rebuild their horrible D
I hate how my 49ers passed over two Bay Area born and raised future Hall of Fame, near-perfect Bay quarterbacks (Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers) who were both available for minimal risk. I remember watching this, and YELLING at the TV! I knew this guy would be a beast. You just knew it. It was destiny!
Thank God Jim Harbaugh and Trent Baalke got the message, and got Colin Kaepernick in the second round. He doesn't have to be as good as those two beasts to win...
@faceurhell Kaepernick is not the answer. Great athlete but hes not a QB. Baalke was the 49ers West Coast area scout when the 49ers took Alex Smith over Rodgers in the draft. He saw Aaron play at Cal perhaps more than anyone in SF. Its crazy he still has a job.
This really pisses me off! I can't believe San Francisco would pick Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers! They were picking an Option style Quarterback instead of the Pro-style Quarterback! Green Bay you are a heck of a lucky ball club. See ya in the NFC Championship game! Your probably going to win because you have Aaron Rodgers and we have Alex Smith.... oh well Alex Smith is going pretty well this year. I guess I'm happy enough.
@Countrymusicnumber1 I'm a Packer fan, and that matchup would be cool (I think the Saints might just have something to say about that though). The media would have a fun time building it up. Lucky though? Come on now, this team was built for the long haul, and a combination of that, good coaching and players executing on the field has contributed to the success.
@Countrymusicnumber1 Don't be too mad about the pick though. Sure, your Niners might have picked Rodgers, but how would he have dealt with what Smith went through, namely starting straight away, and dealing with all of those head coach/offensive coordinator changes?
I'm pleased for Smith that he now has a true QB guy in Harbaugh, a coach that has been able to get the best out of him.
@eclectica1 Harbaugh has gotten the very best out of Alex Smith. But his best is nothing more than an average starting NFL QB. He's shown it all year. He holds the ball too long, doesn't have good pocket presence and still struggles throwing the ball deep and to the sidelines. That position is the main thing holding the 49ers back this year.
Passer rating is often a very poor way of measuring a QB. You have to actually watch the games. The reason its high is because he rarely throws the ball and most of the play-calling is very safe and conservative, keeping his INTs low. He leads the 29th ranked passing attack as far as yards go. Easily the weak link on this team. Hes a slightly above average starting NFL QB at best, but nothing close to being elite.
@Countrymusicnumber1 alex smith is going to surprise many people this year plus every niner fan that includes me. Aaron Rodgers had Bret Farve as a mentor and a stable coaching staff. Alex played for 6 different head coaches in 6 years, most who had a Defensive mind state, plus he fought off all the other QBs the 49ers had, drafted, or signed. i think the 49ers can take on the packers at green bay.....we'll have to wait and see
@jason60152 you stuck in fantasy this is reality......Vick is finished.....washed up......nobody wanna see a QB like Vick running n prancing around tryn too hard to make plays himself.....it takes team effort.....and Aaron Rodgers is real
When I think of Aaron Rodgers on the field I think of his poise, and he showed it during those agonizing 15 minutes as his name kept dropping on the draft board. Not being drafted by the Niners was the best thing for Rodgers. Destiny has a way taking care of you sometimes.
@jason60152 I know u down wit ur boy vick, but until u be the lowest seed in the playoffs and play away on all games and beat the steelers in the Super Bowl not to mention Super Bowl MVP and did it all without half of the starters? Now going for a second super bowl and Rodgers locked on the NFL's MVP? I pray you're not stupid
@jason60152 That's Japan, this is America. Maybe there is a difference you think? lol
Besides, this was dog fighting. When certain dogs didn't want to fight or were too banged up or if he got mad he would just kill them. That's a really sick act. And it's not funny or something you should even defend.
@jason60152 Well they are if they brake the law then yes, I would say they are and they should be put in jail. You act as if things like dog killing and drug dealing isn't a bad thing. So to you what's bad is good right? If so, you have some big problems bud.
@AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 No I think bad is when you rob or kill somebody for a person being a business man.More people die from drinking then smoking bud.Drugs are illegal because the government can't get taxes for it.Not because it is bad.
@jason60152 Ok, you think robbing or killing is bad, which of course are both crimes, but isn't drug dealing and dog killing both ILLEGAL TOO? I think so, Mike Vick got thrown in jail for it. And you don't think drug dealers are bad for braking the law but yet you think robbing and killing are because they are illegal? You just contradicted yourself. Nice try making a point but you fail. And that isn't true. More people die each year taking in drugs than they do alcohol. It's fact.
@jason60152 And I said drug dealers are bad because they sell drugs which ARE ILLEGAL. But drugs are bad too because they can kill you. It's like commiting suicide.
@AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 So you are trying to say that alcohal isn't a drug?People die from cigarettes but it is legal.I never contradicted myself because just because it is a law doesn't make it right.Have you ever heard of crooked cops?
@jason60152 It's not considered a drug, because drugs are substances you can take from a pipe, a drug instrument of any kind , and it can even come in a pill, believe it or not. Alcohol is a LIQUID, it's not something you can smoke or snort or whatever. Alcohol is on an ENTIRELY different planet from drugs. And again, i'm only talking about bad substances that are ILLEGAL. You can smoke but it's not wise to.
@jason60152 Yes I do, because it can kill within a shorter amount of time than alcohol will. To die of alcohol poisioning you would have to drink large amounts for years to die from it. Some people just instantly die from smoking weed the first time they try it because their body can't take the substance. Drugs, are more powerful than alcohol, you can't deny it. Doing drugs gets you tired, dizzy, gives you hallucinations, bad thoughts, and it changes you alot. Alcohol, not as much.
@jason60152 Exactly! That's the point! I have never touched a bud once, and i would be shocked to find out that YOU of all people have never done weed because some comments you right are just seriously fucked up lol.
@jason60152I said you were contradicting yourself because you were saying that killing and robbing are bad things, but yet you were defending Vick's action of him killing his dogs, and you had just defended drug dealing a bit ago saying "So I guess you think drug dealers are bad guys too. SMH". Vick killed animals, and you say killing is bad (even if you meant people it is still against the law).
Rodgers SHOULD'VE been #1 in San Fran. Benson, Williamson, Pacman, Barron, and most of those other guys are either much WORSE then him and have became draft busts and/or i have NEVER heard of them before. Nowadays, it's crazy that you'd take those guys over Rodgers.
Trying to say Brady at 199 is worse shows no clue what you're talking about. Aaron Rodgers was publicly humiliated on live TV for nearly 5 hours. He was told he was going to be the #1 pick and just sat there watching everything come crashing down on him. While Brady is great he was labeled as a 3rd round pick at best. The disparity from 3rd to 6th is far less than Rodgers being labeled #1. Brady was never publicly humiliated. Completely irrelevant!
@airforceones25 Well Rodgers knew from the beginning he was gonna be drafted, while Brady wasnt even sure he would be drafted. He almost went undrafted. Id take being drafted 24th over 199th anyday. and btw the first round lasts maybe 2 hours not freakin 5 hours
@jucyma ive got nothing really against rodgers i think he is a good QB but when people come out and say hes the best QB ever and all kinds of b.s like that it really gets old. One of the main reasons favre never got back to the super bowl was of a weak defense btw
@americasnextopm0del I agree... Rodgers is a cocky little elf

Teams that passed up on Aaron Rodgers
Cleveland Browns
Jacksonville Jaguars
St Louis Rams
Arizona Cardinals
Tampa Bay Buccaneers and
KC Cheifs
How much you want to bet those teams are kicking themselves now.

@enjoyitbro how many teams pass on brady??
dijayvaj 2 months ago
Rodgers was literally in the 49ers back yard and wanted to play for them. Too bad the coach at the time thought Rodgers style and personality would clash with his.

@chosunpeople funny thing is the offensive coordinator for the 9ers at the time was none other than current green bay coach mike mccarthy

people are no doubt comparing the prospect of Luck/Manning to be similar to what GB had with Rodgers/Favre... difference being Aaron fell to GB and the could afford to build a defense whereas Indy will need to service 2 huge salaries and find a way to rebuild their horrible D

He doesn't have to be as good as those two beasts to win...
faceurhell 2 months ago 2

Countrymusicnumber1 2 months ago 12
@Countrymusicnumber1 I'm a Packer fan, and that matchup would be cool (I think the Saints might just have something to say about that though). The media would have a fun time building it up. Lucky though? Come on now, this team was built for the long haul, and a combination of that, good coaching and players executing on the field has contributed to the success.
eclectica1 2 months ago
@Countrymusicnumber1 Don't be too mad about the pick though. Sure, your Niners might have picked Rodgers, but how would he have dealt with what Smith went through, namely starting straight away, and dealing with all of those head coach/offensive coordinator changes?
I'm pleased for Smith that he now has a true QB guy in Harbaugh, a coach that has been able to get the best out of him.
eclectica1 2 months ago
@eclectica1 Harbaugh has gotten the very best out of Alex Smith. But his best is nothing more than an average starting NFL QB. He's shown it all year. He holds the ball too long, doesn't have good pocket presence and still struggles throwing the ball deep and to the sidelines. That position is the main thing holding the 49ers back this year.
southpawRS5 2 months ago
@southpawRS5 He has the 10th best passer rating in the NFL this year. I'd say that's more than just average.
NathizzleDrizzle 2 months ago
@NathizzleDrizzle
Hes a slightly above average starting NFL QB at best, but nothing close to being elite.
southpawRS5 2 months ago
@Countrymusicnumber1 alex smith is going to surprise many people this year plus every niner fan that includes me. Aaron Rodgers had Bret Farve as a mentor and a stable coaching staff. Alex played for 6 different head coaches in 6 years, most who had a Defensive mind state, plus he fought off all the other QBs the 49ers had, drafted, or signed. i think the 49ers can take on the packers at green bay.....we'll have to wait and see

When I think of Aaron Rodgers on the field I think of his poise, and he showed it during those agonizing 15 minutes as his name kept dropping on the draft board. Not being drafted by the Niners was the best thing for Rodgers. Destiny has a way taking care of you sometimes.

AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 3 months ago
@AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 People in Japan kill dogs everyday and they don't go to jail.
jason60152 3 months ago
@jason60152 That's Japan, this is America. Maybe there is a difference you think? lol
Besides, this was dog fighting. When certain dogs didn't want to fight or were too banged up or if he got mad he would just kill them. That's a really sick act. And it's not funny or something you should even defend.
AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 3 months ago
@AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 So I guess you think drug dealers are bad guys too. SMH.
jason60152 3 months ago
@jason60152 Well they are if they brake the law then yes, I would say they are and they should be put in jail. You act as if things like dog killing and drug dealing isn't a bad thing. So to you what's bad is good right? If so, you have some big problems bud.
AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 3 months ago
@AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 No I think bad is when you rob or kill somebody for a person being a business man.More people die from drinking then smoking bud.Drugs are illegal because the government can't get taxes for it.Not because it is bad.
jason60152 3 months ago
@jason60152 Ok, you think robbing or killing is bad, which of course are both crimes, but isn't drug dealing and dog killing both ILLEGAL TOO? I think so, Mike Vick got thrown in jail for it. And you don't think drug dealers are bad for braking the law but yet you think robbing and killing are because they are illegal? You just contradicted yourself. Nice try making a point but you fail. And that isn't true. More people die each year taking in drugs than they do alcohol. It's fact.
AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 3 months ago
@jason60152 And I said drug dealers are bad because they sell drugs which ARE ILLEGAL. But drugs are bad too because they can kill you. It's like commiting suicide.
AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 3 months ago
@AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 So you are trying to say that alcohal isn't a drug?People die from cigarettes but it is legal.I never contradicted myself because just because it is a law doesn't make it right.Have you ever heard of crooked cops?
jason60152 3 months ago
@jason60152 It's not considered a drug, because drugs are substances you can take from a pipe, a drug instrument of any kind , and it can even come in a pill, believe it or not. Alcohol is a LIQUID, it's not something you can smoke or snort or whatever. Alcohol is on an ENTIRELY different planet from drugs. And again, i'm only talking about bad substances that are ILLEGAL. You can smoke but it's not wise to.
AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 3 months ago
@AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 So you think weed smoking is worser then alcohal abuse?
jason60152 3 months ago
@jason60152 Yes I do, because it can kill within a shorter amount of time than alcohol will. To die of alcohol poisioning you would have to drink large amounts for years to die from it. Some people just instantly die from smoking weed the first time they try it because their body can't take the substance. Drugs, are more powerful than alcohol, you can't deny it. Doing drugs gets you tired, dizzy, gives you hallucinations, bad thoughts, and it changes you alot. Alcohol, not as much.
AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 3 months ago
@AcHiEvehIgH3rGoALs88 You act like you never smoked weed before lmao!! Rappers smoke weed everyday. lol
jason60152 3 months ago
@jason60152 Exactly! That's the point! I have never touched a bud once, and i would be shocked to find out that YOU of all people have never done weed because some comments you right are just seriously fucked up lol.

@jason60152I said you were contradicting yourself because you were saying that killing and robbing are bad things, but yet you were defending Vick's action of him killing his dogs, and you had just defended drug dealing a bit ago saying "So I guess you think drug dealers are bad guys too. SMH". Vick killed animals, and you say killing is bad (even if you meant people it is still against the law).

BiggusDickus225 3 months ago
Trying to say Brady at 199 is worse shows no clue what you're talking about. Aaron Rodgers was publicly humiliated on live TV for nearly 5 hours. He was told he was going to be the #1 pick and just sat there watching everything come crashing down on him. While Brady is great he was labeled as a 3rd round pick at best. The disparity from 3rd to 6th is far less than Rodgers being labeled #1. Brady was never publicly humiliated. Completely irrelevant!
airforceones25 3 months ago
@airforceones25 Well Rodgers knew from the beginning he was gonna be drafted, while Brady wasnt even sure he would be drafted. He almost went undrafted. Id take being drafted 24th over 199th anyday. and btw the first round lasts maybe 2 hours not freakin 5 hours
