hope you get a chance to finish this build. looks great! My only thoughts are how well this build will take to upgraded parts, and are you going to paint stuff like the Northbridge heatsink and GPU Shrouds? Thinking of buying this case just cause all the great things you can do to it :D
cool project and dog. I also have a LianLi PC-05N, it's just perfect as a handy case for gaming hardware. I got a little hint for you, don't use the aircooling in stock orientaion. Use the front as intake and the rear as outtake fan, that lowered the Temps for CPU (4°C), GPU (10°C) and HDD (15°C ! ). I hope this helps ;)
It looks like you are transfering the cad drawing from paper to metal. A tip for you is to print out the cad drawing onto Avery (5165) full sheet labels. Stick the label to metal and scribe and center punch. Save a lot of time and is very accurate. Good build so far.
Dude... that looks awesome. You ended up getting a great mix of colors with those accents on the inside. Did you have any problems powder coating the fasteners or scratching them when installing?
I would only say that you could use a little more garnet and gold in that thing... sorry, didn't mean to jump on that bandwagon, but I can't resist... after all, we finally won one!!! We won! We won! We won!!!
Thanks Jason! The powder coat thickness really threw me off and I couldn't fit any of the drive bay covers or fan controller properly... this is the result. Ok, easy on the Jesse James reference... all I did was hack together some steel!
when you powder coated the 840, did you have trouble getting devices int he 5.25 bays? mine is stock and its already a hell of a tight fit! sounds like if I powder coat it I will be in for a world of hurt?
yeah, the tolerances are a known issue with the 840. before i powder coated it was tough, however after i put the case back together it was still tough. bottom line, powder is very resilient and you shouldn't worry too much if you have to force fit some stuff.
Dude that looks AWESOME! Can't wait to see the finished PC! I'm from Ohio, so I don't like LSU for what they did to OSU! LOL! Still, that is going to be 1 sick ass PC when completed! 5*

How long does it take to receive the sleeving from MDPC X ?
Anyone in the US sell their sleeving?
spearmintmonkey 1 year ago
@spearmintmonkey It probably took 5 days to order from mdpc-x. I think MM only sells black here in the states

LOL! Yeah, they did OSU in too! All S.E.C. teams are awesome! OSU will get them both 1 day. Until then, good luck LSU!!
