r u serious buddy. we dissect them to learn about that specific animal. WE don't say,"Hey these kids arent learning, lets have a dissection class. That will make them have fun in class" U can't have an old frog thats been rotting away for months. besides, THE FRENCH EAT FRGGIN SNAILS AND FROGS! WESTERNS WOULD EAT RATTLE SNAKE. MEXICANS HAVE CHICKEN FIGHTS COMPLAIN TO THEM
Good for him! I'm skipping anatomy (I hope) for my senior year of high school. I'm just not comfortable dissecting something that was once alive. And in our anatomy classes, they dissect cats. I mean, I had a cat as a pet... I don't want to cut one open. It's just not right.
Can't we just look at a diagram of an open animal? We have all the information we need on zoology and anatomy, we don't really need anymore, especially when the only real purpose is to freak the kids out and have them go through that 'fun' of dissection. It's not necessary.
Steve-O is way cooler now that he's part of Peta :D
This reminds me of high school, my bio teacher failed me because i refused to disect, i told her " failing me isnt going to change my mind, it isnt my fault, you're a old fashioned, cruel person". Funny thing is the principal made her change my final grade.
I get so torn on this topic. I am student in the medical profession and as much as I don't want to dissect the animals, learning on the computer is MUCH different than actually seeing it. Especially in my field, I have to be able to decipher between all the different structures, nerves, ligaments, veins and arteries, tendons, where one muscle starts and the other ends. and you really can't tell one from the other. Im gonna cry cutting open a human :(
@monee71 Actually. Number one, it's called supply and demand. Less people want it, they do it less. Second, the eggs we eat aren't "unborn" because they are unfertilized by sperm, so they weren't going to hatch in the first place. It's kind of like having a period. But I wouldn't eat eggs anyways, because of the conditions at factory farms...
soo like last week in marine bio we had to disect this baby shark and i was like ooohh hell no and it was still moving wen they gave it to us and so i got 3 f 's for the day and a detention for not slicing it open and poking its insides but overall i feel proud i didnt kill that poor baby shark just to cut up its liver and play with it intestines.
next year we are doing dissection..... im going to school but im totally telling my teacher off! i dont care if i get in trouble i will say fuck you you know man? not fucking cool
lool @ the Ned's survival guide part! I just saw that frog episode lol!...
yes, i really don't think we need to be dissecting animals to learn... if there is really something so important to learn from doing it to an animal then we should really be doing it to dead people as well...
most of the teachers plan it as a "fun" activity... its very sick... they are very sick minded.
@EzaroWorld but dissection is extremely important to science and anatomy and medical research. In medical school you DO dissect human bodies. Of course in schools you're not going to learn something as difficult as a human body. Because, like it or not, A HUMAN LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN AN ANIMALS! Also, a lot of the stuff we know about animals is because of dissection we wouldn't know nearly as much as we do about nature and ourselves if it weren't for dissection.
