FOR CRYING OUT LOUD MAN Switchfoot publicly displays that they are a christian band and continuously writes song that are no doubt about Jesus Christ , so keep your little "thoughts" to yourself.

@tbonewms The reason they are identified as contemporary Christian or Christian rock is because they are marketed to Christian audio/retail outlets. If you read the lyrics and listen closely, they're all about universal spirituality. Switchfoot IS NOT Jars of Clay or Hillsong which both are obviously on Christian rock genre.

@byronomboy Well I disagree. I will be seeing them in concert and meeting them. I will ask them about the song and then this will be settled. but I will acknowledge that lyrics can be interpreted any way you see fit. So if you see them as universal, that's your prerogative .

I first heard this song when I was about ten years old, this song has helped me through a lot because when I was ten, my grandpa died and I remember listening to this song every day and I would think of how even though I felt alone during that time, God was always with me :) I am now 15 years old and still love this song, it has changed my life in so many ways. :)

This song was almost always constantly playing while growing up and going through some tremendously hard and confusing times. This takes me back to being young, scared and hurt. From christian camps to the summer at the shore. I am 21 now, and not religious at all but I recently started to play this song at least 20 times a day after my mother was diagnosed with cancer. It still helps so much even when everything hurts so much.

I never coped out. I'm still here.

My understanding of this song was that it was the lead singer's 24th Birthday, It's about taking time out of your life to look back at your past and recognize the things you need to change to be a better person. I don't think it's about god in Particular though. Switchfoot has usually been on the middle ground as far as their songs having religious Connotations.
