I had no idea there were different actors playing Rick & Monica! They both must have been replaced close together. I started watching in 78 and have no recall of these two.

I loved these 2 together they were the BEST RIck and Monica I loved Patsy Rahn I stopped watching for years because she was no longer playing Monica these 2 had great chemistry and were so real in the scenes. I miss them thanks for putting up this clip :)

Wow, I never knew there was another actor who played Rick Weber befor Chris Robinson. Are there any scenes of "Heather" before Robin Mattson had taken over the role?

While this Rick is so MUCH better and sexier than the other one, Patsy Rahn is really bad. A little before this a romantic scene between these 2 was played and replayed as a flashback for weeks and it was the mostly badly written scene I've ever seen in my 40 yaers of watching GH. It was like something out of a bad Candlelight Ecstacy romance novel! Thank goodness Leslie Charleson was hired to replace the unfortunate Ms. Rahn

Not that I am aware of. The exact words I remember were:

Rick: You are my everything. You are my Heaven and my Hell.

Monica: We've lived with others and found we can't live without each other.

Yuck! It was TRULY awful.  I cannot remember the rest but geez!

Those lines sound awfully familiar... I think some soap writer quoted them as an example of how bad the writing was before Doug Marland....

I'm sure those lines were quoted by another writer, just as I'm sure that the lines themselves are remembered by anyone who watched in the 70's. The dialog and some casting decisions are the prime example of what was wrong with the show and why it was nearly cancelled. Some of the casting NEVER got any better but I am attacked everytime I mention certain hammy actors whowould've had no career except they got REALLY lucky and the public inexplicably started adoring them in the 80's and still do.

Valerie Starrett is, far and away, my favorite daytime actress ever. She was popular and beautiful, and her storyline with Craig Huebing (as Peter Taylor) was riveting and highly enjoyable. I would also love to see videos from of their work. It's nice to know I am not alone.

It's very interesting to see the original Rick and Monica together.

Patsy Rahn may have been a fine Monica (LOL: Like most other viewers, I didn't start watching GH until '78) and, perhaps it is unfair to judge her performance from one 2-minute clip, but she seems to lack Leslie Charleson's sharp acting acuity (particularly her ability to convey intense emotions simply with her eyes, body language and facial expression), emotional gravitas and screen presence.

The show looked boring, I also heard the show was dieing then. That's why Gloria Monte had to put in Scotty and Laura and a few others to make it better. Still it's good to see.

Thank you very much for posting this clip of the original Monica (1976-77), Patsy Rahn. My neigbor watched GH religiously and he said he liked Patsy in the role better than Leslie Charleson. She's a beautiful lady.

Do you happen to have ANY scenes with the old Rick and Lesley? I never got to see them, but I LOVED Chris and Denise together. I think since TIIC have destroyed their love story anyway, it would be great to see Lesley and Monica in a sort of Thelma and Louise type caper now. Wouldn't that be awesome? Maybe they could solve a crime or something together and have reluctant and funny friendship!

WOW I couldn't remember the old Monica and Rick so this was a treat...still like Chris and Leslie better...and I agree..Chris and Denise had GREAT chemistry as does Leslie and Stuart.

I wish I had that clip! No, Monica did not push her on purpose. She and Leslie were arguing upstairs, Monica rushed out, Leslie was running after her and fell. Monica had no idea what happened.

And this is why Monica is such a redeemable character...while she might come close to the edge sometimes she's always able to pull back and she has a conscience.

Patsy Rahn was fired "rather rudely" according to Leslie Charleson. It's interesting seeing General Hospital right before Gloria Monty arrived. This was when they were a 45-minute show. I think Chris Robinson and Leslie Charleson are better actors, and more dynamic than Michael Gregory and Patsy Rahn.

They were both good actors,and Patsy Rahn played the bitch well. I thinkg they had better chemistry than Chris and Leslie. Chris Robinson went much better with Denise Alexander ( Leslie ).

But then again Denise and Micheal Gregory were pretty hot together too back in their young days.
