And so the plundering of the sea with "take everything you get" continues to this day, the seas are denuded of fish, I have seen the collapse in my life time.
I've been trying to find stories of the glory days of Durban fishing, back when the whaling staion was still operating. The piers were some of the best fishing spots on the planet. So far no luck finding info. Does anyone know of a good website?
Please note the launch of this book has been pushed back to end of March - we have discovered another 50 great photos (including pics from the Ski Boat Club) which we had to put in...
Very good. Pity no mention was made of the Durban Ski Boat Club who to this day helps the last of the netters survive by helping to maintain their boat and allowing them free use of our tractor to move the boat up and down the beach.
@BushZulu Thanks for you comments. The head of the Seinenetters, Keita Moodley, has acknowledged the considerable support given by the Durban Ski Boat Club and who informed us of a box of photographs at your club which we may be able to access. We will try and include this in the book, with the permission of your club.

You'd never get a net full like that these days. I remember when I was a kid, shad fishing they were basically jumping out the sea.
