She told the news she did not even know her car HAD an airbag. After all those years, it still worked perfectly. And yes, it was an American car. We looked at a 78 Mercedes 300D the other day and could not figure out where the

hell the VALUE is in 'em. They are small & tinny compared to our Town Car, & noisy

with like 2 inches of padding in the seats. Very CHEAP for what they sell for, and

I'm told the new Mercedes are WAY WORSE because there's no dependability.

But lets run with your assertion that we can’t build fuel efficient cars, why would we? Gas in the States (up until the last 5 years or so) was dirt cheap. And the green movement has only been on its feet for the last 15 years, MAYBE. American auto firms had no reason to build a fuel efficient car because there was no public demand. Now that they do they have come up with all sorts of examples.

@slammedandshiny Okey, the only differens is that a american car with a v8 like a mustang boss does 26 mpg and have 444hp and the M5 does 30mpg and have 560hp. Not a big differens in consumption but that the M5 have 120hp more and still consumes less fuel says a thing or two about the cars.
