Since MJ became medically legal in many states, growers, dispensaries, etc. have been raising prices, and gauging customers. With legalization, prices should have come down for customers/patients, but they haven't. In the end, regulation & taxation will result due to the "GREED" of people in this industry. I want LEGALIZATION...period. This way, people will be able to grow their own @ home, and the medical growers, dealers, dispensers, etc. will be able to go FK themselves!!!
regulation will lower prices. here in canada we pay half of what californians or new yorkers pay. tax is fine, as long as it doesn't push prices higher than current prices. hard liquor has an 83% tax...and too high a tax will drive the black market. we've seen that with cigarettes.
prohibition is only 70 years old. the government couldn't live without alcohol revenue, so they regulated it. it also reduces crime. more power to ammiano!
tell that to ammiano.. i know there's more to marijuana.. that's why i say what i say.. the debate has to be more open and honest.
riding this wave to a better economy isn't going to make things better. what's going to happen if it doesn't boost the economy as expected. then we're back to the drawing board fighting old ideas.
a lot of people mention alcohol prohibition but no one seems to have studied it. if any of us really believe that "boost to the economy" argument, we will fail.
go take economics 101 and then come back with that simple knowledge when you understand more. if you need help, read my blog.
don't be so blinded by your desire to see marijuana legalized. this is very much a "you get what you ask for" situation. if you think that's all there is to it, you're absolutely naive and ignorant.
legalization has got to be done right and all i see is blind greed on both sides - no education, no real debate. wake up
you're nuts.. that's today's prices. how long do you think that would last if marijuana were legalized, grown en masse in the united states, imported from african or asian nations?
the problem is that people believe that marijuana will maintain the same prices as they are. we seem to easily forget the price bump of prohibition. enter real competition and prices WILL drop.
how much do you think a pound of weed costs in South Africa, Vietnam, or Mexico?
That's actually not that bad, considering it's going to legalize the growing as well so they can mass produce it and ounces of heady bud will probably only cost 40 dollars or so.. better than $320
