Let me spell it out for you; Black thought is one of the best hip hop lyricists, Quest is one of the best producers and one of the best drummers in the world, Captain Kirk is outstanding - listen to I cant write Left Handed.

They arent the same or similar artists. So in my opinion they cannot be compared. Just because they are a band/group doesnt mean you can/should compare them. Plus they play totally different music genres. But deffo The Roots should be mentioned as one of the great Hip Hop AND music bands in general of all time for sure. @Dre36 I don't think any individual or band should be grouped in to a particular category just because of how many people were "involved" in the album. I think they should focus only on the music being played and the talent of those playing it. I guess what I mean is that if a band like Slipknot decided to do a hip-hop album then that album should be labeled and judged as hip-hop regardless of how many people are in the band. Slipknot, please do not do hip-hop. LOL
