The recording was made in Berlin on 20 September 1932, after his first appearances in London and the USA, and after his return to London for further performances of The Land of Smiles in May/June 1932. Within six months of the session, he would have left Germany for ever.
I rate this as second only to Caruso's version (in Italian). However definitely my favorite English version.
