Ahhh... Thank god the Peter in my school will be male. Im not sexist or anything, but its nice to see a boy play Peter instead of a girl. I know its tradition, but still. My school has been known for REALLY good plays, though, so Ill be alright.
@techmax791 Yeah, around here, people say that Peter has NEVER been played by a boy. Why is that? I'd love to see a Peter who actually KNOWS how it's like to be a boy! Yeah, no sexism. But it would be trillions of times better just to see an actual boy play Peter's part! :D
although i can see how it would be cool to have a real boy play the part of Peter, the reason he is most often played by a girl/woman is because Peter is just a little boy. It all started on broadway... they know that if they put a grown man as Peter, it just wouldnt be right because of the depth and masculine ring to the voice. Peter, a little boy, the escence and image of childhood, shouldn't come on stage sounding like a big tough guy rather than a small boy. and btw, i didnt mean to be rude
I'm going to be only 14 years old when I am Wendy in this and the person who might be Peter is only 13 and she's a girl... I'm not sure how this will work out
I may be wrong, and probably am....but this stock/touring production of 'Peter Pan', although done in a smaller venue than the Broadway...is still amazing for a smaller theatre (and more dangerous for poor Peter who has to be coordinated to begin with)...........and I think this Peter is Karen Ziemba.....Broadway actress/singer/dancer.....Tony nomineee.......! I may be wrong, but it sure looks and sounds like her. Peace Out!
@zozoeify Peter Pan is ALWAYS played by a girl. Since it ws performed, as a play by JM Barrie, a Scotsman, in London, about the turn of the century, it has always been played by a woman. As a musical, first Peter Pan was Mary Martin (mom of JR Ewing, of 'Dallas') doing it on TV in 40's, 50, 60's, then gymnast Cathy Rigby, then Sandy Duncan. If you want to see how "Peter Pan" came about, rent dvd, 'Finding Neverland', with J. Depp and K. Winslet. Amazing film. I believe my info here is correct.
@sarmadasco Yes. But one slight correction. PETER PAN was on Broadway in the 1950s. It first came to television in 1955, 1956, and 1960 with Mary Martin.
The first broadcast was with the original Broadway Cast. Television did not really get started until 1948. Such a performance would not have been affordable then, even if this musical had been written in that year- which it wasn't. So there really was no TV in the 1940s per se.
she was kinda off-key!! but, as i discovered for myself yesterday, singing and flying at the same time is really hard! the harness really squeezes your diaphram. i'm rehearsing this role right now, and it is sooo fun!
if they did it right it took 5 people to fly this scene. peter is the only person who moves up and down and side to side. the kids only go up and down. they are like giant pendulums on pulleys. the legs were a bit outrageous as well. if that was the directors choice... bad direction
you are all crazy!! this girl is so talented :) if the director gave her a note to fly like that, then obviously she is very good at following directions.... so i think she is wonderful and her voice is flawless!!!
we just finished that production at my school not saying this ones bad at all im sure the flyings a bitch im just saying a bit to much leg for my taste.
i was michael in my skools production of peter pan. flying was very fun!! but the harnesses rlly hurt and were very uncomfortable and it cost 5000 for our skool to have 4 ppl fly for 3 nites.
can someone tell me how to get these harnesses to fly these people? our high school really wants to do peter pan but the flying thing is the only obstacle!!! plz help
They are really expensive. There are Special Effects companies that do this type of work. It is important that someone professional helps you with the fly system just to be safe. The prices deal with a lot of factors... How many times does the person fly? How Many people? How many shows? There has to be a training session where they teach you how. A lot goes into it, so that everything is safe, but please don't do Peter pan if you can't afford the PROFESSIONAL help. Amateur help is riskful
Agreed. It is a counter weight system with pple being the counter weights. For every 1 person who flies it takes 2 pple to run it. (In this scene 8 pple to fly 4) 1 for vertical (Basically a person jumping off of a ladder) and one for horizontal (like opening a curtain on a pulley system) NO MOTORS USED! at least if you want to make it look smooth. Also most times there is peter on track 1 and the kids on track 2. So 3 pple on one track. GO PROFESSIONAL. OSHA WILL APPRECIATE IT!!!!!
ya know, the thing about theater, it involves ACTING. so i dont know if it would be too much to ask the cast, once theyve been picked, to ACT like their flying. (sorry if that sounded really mean ='(
actually the cables are black so they can't see them from the audience when the theater is black. At least that's what FOY does. We got them to do the flight patterns for our school. OH and BTW, flying is amazingly fun.
this is actually quite good. peter pan has an amazing voice and you actually got cables into let them "fly" wish we were able to do that when i did the production. it was in a tiny theatre (community)

How the production of teathres do to don't show the cables theat let Peter Pan fly?
Lizzula 4 years ago 2
Because the cables (or wires) are seee thro. so the adience wont see them. you know to look more realistic.
BBQGurl 4 years ago 9
excuse me i don't understand, can you write in italian, or can you be more "simple"?

not theyre not its just the lighting.
