The singer, Martin Degville, is from Walsall, my hometown. My mom has danced with him, and my Dad knows his brother. Well, they both know his brother, but my Dad used to drink with him, and his brother used to get into a lot of fights over him, 'cos it's probably quite obvious that living in the West Midlands in the 80s wasn't a very liberal time.
Martin Degville ! This is the way forward for music in 1980s, post-punk became mainstream, mainstream became alternative, then along came R&B which ended music forever.
Great tune, (but Billy Idol was not in this band). He was the singer/songwriter for Generation-X.) I think he now lives in USA and performs often.
The singer of this band (who's name I don't know) was the boyfriend of a United Kingdom journaloist (Janet Street-Porter). Other than that, I know nothing.....
If you ever wanted to define a Generation, Ferris Buelers Day Off, Better Off Dead, Risky Business, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles really is a good start
"It's not that I condone facism, or any ism for that matter. Isms in my opinion are not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, 'I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me.' A good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus, I'd still have to bum riots off of people."
"I do have a test today, that wasn't bullshit. It's on european socialism. I'm mean really, what's the point? I'm not European, I don't plan on being European, so who gives a crap if their socialists? They can be fascist anarachists, it still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car."
Takes me back. If my memory is right they were the first band to sell advertising space on the groove on their album ......oh, Tony James is a legend. Generation X first album ... legendary ..... 100 Punks Rule ... Kiss Me Deadly ....etc
I got thrown out of a Sigue Sigue gig in London (TINY CLUB) for throwing a water bottle at the keyboard player. He wasn't even plugged in and I had had one too many..!
