I thought that as depicted on his column, Trajan actuallly did a genocide of the Dacian people and culture.. and that the Romanians are actually descendant of mostly roman setlers and other tribes like the wisigoths and the huns that occupied Romania later. More then likely remnants of the Dacian culture survived and some people simply escaped the wrath of the romans.

Suntem romani după cum suntem şi daci. Mândriţi-vă dar respectaţi şi dacii, ei au fost acolo înaintea romanilor.
