HIM stands for His Infernal Majesty, and when they came to the states it was to close to a now defunct post punk band named infernal majesty and and another band was using HIM so they change the name to HIM and HER, then they just used HER for one album and then they finally bought the rights to the name HIM. as far as it still standing for His Infernal Majesty, you would have to ask Ville.
