im 15 and i just got a stick shift 1986 z28. now theres no question this is the car im gonna drive. im just wondering it has a standard 305 v8 that chevy rates at 190hp. a little small for my taste and i need a senior project anyway. should i save the money and get a twin turbo or change the engine to a 350. will the 305 get the same milage with a turbo and will a 305 have more pawer than a 350 once it has a twin turbo. and can i get a twin turbo kit for $2500 or under.
@njmvermont go with a crate 350, the 305's were junk, unless you can find a good LS series engine for cheaper but the swap might be a little harder with an LS im not sure but definatley a 350 over the 305
@ModMob 305's were not "junk". There are quite a few guys with money into 305's beating 350's. The only reason many dog on the 305's is the parts are not as available as with 350's and often times it's cheaper to go with 350's. Quit spreading ignorance please.
@ryanericw you can take any engine and put money into it to make it fast, but that's not the point.. when it comes factory with 160hp and 200 tq out of a V8 its not exactly a very good engine is it? and I consider that "junk". that's 30 less HP than a stock Prelude H22a (V-tec) and close to 100hp less than my moms car ( Dale Jr. Monte Carlo) my dad has owned tons or Trans Am's and Camaro's and he will tell you that the 305's were just dogs..

@302f150 early third gens like this one had a 305.. not a 350. and its CLEARLY not twin turbo.. at most its as toyoracing89 put it.. stock block internals tune and low boost..

Also in his other vids you can hear the spool a lot more clearly. It probably is low boost, and it's also carbureted. So CLEARLY you shouldn't be telling people what is and what isn't under the hoods of cars you see in youtube videos

I had a blue 89 iroc z with the L98 and 3.27 gears and it was faster stock for stock vs 5.0 mustangs with the 5 speed. Automatic 5.0s were not even worth racing:( My curent car (87 z28) has the 5.0 tpi, 3.73 gears plus its a 5 speed and that shity ass 305 hangs with 5.0's no problem! Can't we all just get along...besides, everybody knows the bowties are better than the blue ovals....if you wanna get technical I think a car with a power adder (turbo, charger, N2O, etc.) should race another car with a power adder, and an N/A car should race another N/A car. If I were to race a cobra and he didn't want me to use my nitrous, then I would certainly expect for him to remove his blower in order to make it fair...see guys how dumb does that sound?

I had a blue 89 iroc z with the L98 and 3.27 gears and it was faster stock for stock vs 5.0 mustangs with the 5 speed. Automatic 5.0s were not even worth racing:( My curent car (87 z28) has the 5.0 tpi, 3.73 gears plus its a 5 speed and that shity ass 305 hangs with 5.0's no problem! You must be picking on the tbi camaros or the 305 carburated automatics
