  • Idea for the "continuation" of this game - The Lion War itself, where it was Larg vs Goltanna. This part can concentrate on Delita and how he climbed up the ranks. Ramza can appear during cameo screens. The major characters can be Larg / Goltanna's party initially as antagonists, while developing further into where Delita finds out the real antagonist is the Church, which eventually links back to the story.

  • This game ended perfectly, it does not need a direct sequel. However, what would be better is if they make another tactics which has nothing to do with this one, just like the main FF games have nothing to do with each other. Making another Tactics in the same world as Ivalice with a similar background would be stretching things a bit.

  • who else starts walking in place once the song starts playing with an objective in mind.

    DEFEAT ALL ENEMIES

  • haha the final fantasy series has gone to complete crap. ill always remember and love tactics.

  • ah man, shit's about to go down better start walking in place!

  • @shanethefox My thoughts exactly. When this music started up you knew shit was about to get real lol.

  • I think that Final Fantasy Tactics dont deserves a Sequel. It's a Master Piece. It's perfect... it doesn't need to add or remove stuff. The characters and the story have a nice development that no one can touch. And the best thing.... it's based in the Medieval real History. Actually, the Crusades were like that.

The ending of Delita and Ovelia was great! I was shocked... It gives you a great lesson about how to live. I love when games, books or movies do that.

  • hihi kommt jemand aus berlin

  • Best Game ever. I dumped so many hours into this game, too many to count. I think I did most challenges(Solo Calculator, Straight Character, Solo Summoner, Solo Thief/Ninja, etc) This game was the best.... nothing can come close. Not Disgaea, not anything. FFT For Life.

  • Algus and Ga- oh wait

  • I don't think any FF has had a more mature or complex plot since FFT. Kinda sad that they shy away from it when it was the most enveloping one of them all due to how intricate the story was.

  • Life was so simple and awesome as a kid in the 90s.

  • I hear this music in my SLEEP.

  • When argath shot tietra ( sorry i don't know the original names i have the psp version) i literally ran up to her and used a phoenix down thinking it would work....... it failed, and i got killed for it

  • This game was very difficult when I was 12. I got Orlandu killed and made Ramza a black mage because idk...

  • Life is short, bury, steady sword!

  • whenever i hear this song i am reminded on what a fucking hero Ramza is

  • badasss!!!!!

  • これは熱い!

    難易度の高い戦闘をより一層引き立ててくれた曲だった

  • Love this theme...

FFT (actually I'm playing War of the Lions whatever) is so freaking addicting.

Like I worked for school the whole day I wanna do something else before going to bed... it's midnight and I'm like.

    "Ok, one little battle"...

    *4 hours later*

    "FUCK !!!" [4 AM]

  • @Witsarunemitea

Tactics Ogre on PSP is exactly the same way for me. Easy enough to flick the power button off, but I get all caught up in the leveling and grabbing new loot. By the time I look at the clock again, three hours have passed and I'm astonished.

  • @RinoaDestiny That's the way a game should be :P

    Awesome.

Maybe I'mma try Tactics Ogre ... soon...

  • I *loved* how they added random dialogue before casting spells.

  • this song make me remember Agrias

"Life is short....Bury! Steady Sword!" <<< can't forget this sentence 555

  • "Oh... don't kill them." Says Agrias.

"BUT WE DON'T GET PAID THAT WAY!!!" SAYS GAFGARION!

  • Orlandeau and Balthier (Yeah I only played the newer one) were my favourites! I mean, they were kicking asses, man!

  • We deserve a 'direct sequel' to this story line. Not another master piece out there like this! Truly held back due to so many other fantastic games out there like this, but would love to see a FFT game that didn't consist of judges and little ass kids playing in wonderland! Maybe one day squarenix you will cater to the fans and stop giving us the bullshit you've been releasing for so long now..

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin So true. I played FFTA2 *just* for the FFT elements. The story was horrendous. What's a mid-20'something to play to bring him back?!

  • @Star841 psp version of it. its differnt but in a mostly good way but still kinda the exact same

  • @Star841 Are you fortunate enough not to have played Xenogears yet? Because I only recently finished playing it through and the storyline had its wicked way with me in all senses of the expression. Quite probably the best RPG I've ever played in terms of plotline, at least on the PSX. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else is out there with that sort of feeling. A kind of mature storyline, but at the same time, with allusions and metaphor and background stuff... seems to be a thing of the past.

  • @Harkz0r I have not, but will check it out for sure. I've never completed FF9, so I'm working on that now.

  • @Star841 good choice, thats best ff next to tactics

  • @Star841 xenogears will make you tremble on how awesome that game is. It will make you feel the emotions through its soundtrack, definitely worth the play, my favorite rpg of all time.

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin

    HELL YEAH! I agree!!!

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin "You've been a bad boy. You're punished, go tidy up the library. What's this? The magic of reading books. Books are amazing!"

What the fuck do they think we are? 5 years old little kids who need to learn that a book is more than some boring shit?

'Coz basically that's the fucking moral of FFTA2.

    Fuck SquareEnix. SquareSoft for president!

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin well man I completely agree with all you said except I've lost faith on Square Enix a long time ago and I just cannot imagine a revive of this franchise in this modern day (FF13 was the last straw). Maybe if the old Square Soft team reunited and made a sequel then maybe just maybe.

Reason why I blame Enix is because for some strange coincidence, that's when the FF games were losing in storyline and other qualities

  • @LOLinflames

    FFXII much?

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin

Come on now. Was FFTA2 really that bad?

  • @KairisVardron Horrible! (Talking about storyline)

  • @EnemyCrow

    Which one do you mean?

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin

    Problem: SE needs new customers

Problem': New customers would not appreciate old-school RPGs

Ergo: SE has to make games in different style

    ->Sicut erat eritque in orbis

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin Last I heard, the guy responsible for pretty much all things Ivalice, and all the games in that world, is working for Level-5 now so he can have more control over his games. More power to him, but I'm sad we won't see anything else (at least not on his level) in the future from Square.

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin there is a sequal, ffxii. though still not direct as u want it.

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin Tactics Ogre. Same team; more politics; less final fantasy.

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin The thing is though...how would you go about making the sequel storyline? (And, I think FFT has a somewhat sequel in Vagrant Story....)

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin Nope. Shooting games, cut scenes marketed as games, and cruddy cross-overs. Welcome to hell, hope you didn't expect good games to make it past the COD/Indie gaming phase.

  • @Omgwthamiwatchin Heck ya! I agree with you. When FFTA came out and I got it and encountered the judge system, much less the story, I nearly threw my GBA at the wall! What a wasted investment. The ending of Final Fantasy Tactics in so ambiguous it screams sequel. What happened to all the others besides Alma and Ramza? HELLOOOOO????!!! -sigh-

  • I have kind of trouble deciding between two classics:ff4 ff tactics and ff9.

Sometimes,i can't help but like the ff9 characters a lot,but i like ramza more than zidane and delite more than garnet.FF tactics clearly has a lot of nameless characters with backstory, but the ones that do have backstory are well written.

I keep fighting in my mind with ff9 and ff tactics and ff4 for second and third place of favorite.

  • @piromaniac9999 go with your heart...FFT is probably the most well written game ever. If it was a book you wouldn't notice the difference. I know deep down, you want FFT ;) I shamelessly admit its my favorite all time game, and im a critic, a positive one though at that.

  • @SnowFox226 What ever happened to games with narrative?

When you go into a village in ff tactics, you can find out about the locals and what is happening, through reading.I feel that this kind of gives a better description than being bombarded with overly long cutscenes.

  • @piromaniac9999 I'm probably going to go with IX then VI as my favourites, because I have a lot of fond memories about playing FFIX in my teens and along with another game it brought out my creativity. But Tactics is surely in the top 3, and your comment about narratives is absolutely right. It's what I enjoyed most about this game and dare I say even FFVII - the game that required an Ultimania Omega guide for all the plot to make sense! I like the sense of immersing oneself in other realities.

  • @Harkz0r Thats why i felt that ff7 was a weak link.

I was never an ff7 or ff8 fan.

FF8 has some stupid plot points, like the whole orphanage thing of everyone being taken care of by edea.

I heard it for the first time, and i was laughing at it.Then comes the really stupid cliché thing of losing memories because of the usage of gfs.Oh yeah:ultimecia was pretty predictable too.

FOOLS!! IDIOTS!! you voted me and i am involved with much death and destruction, and then kills the president.

  • @piromaniac9999 I thought that the whole 'losing memories due to GFs' thing was quite a bad plot point, although I appreciated the use of GFs in the actual plot. As a child it really bothered me to not know what GF Selphie drew, although the time travel thing was interesting to wrap my head around. Ultimecia was just a Deus Ex Machina - FF games have a bad habit of it. Even though I do love IX, what the hell was Necron all about?

  • @Harkz0r I think ff8 might actually the worse final fantasy game yet.

FFXIII annoyed me,but ff8 far surpasses the annoyance level of ff8.

Both games are pretty fucking boring and tedious,in the worse fashion imaginable.

Being just repetitive doesn't make it hard,it just means that the game long and boring.

  • @piromaniac9999 For some strange reason, I actually don't mind VIII at all. In fact, I quite like it, despite all its shortcomings. My only major complaint is that it's tedious in the beginning, and really fucking easy as soon as you know how the Junction system works. But I'd still prefer to play it than, say, XII again. Which is not to say that I thought XII was -awful- either, it just doesn't seem to beckon to me for the replay value. Maybe I'd play IZJS though. Haven't played XIII yet.

  • @Harkz0r I think that ff8 is basically:an exercise of patience.

Getting the cards to junction magic takes patience.

Getting the right rules to get enough cards is patience.

    Getting magic takes patience.

For now,i don't think i ever want to see this game again.

  • @Harkz0r Another thing that i hate about ff8,is the card game.

OH hell do i hate that card game.I want to go out and kill that son of a bitch who thought it was a good idea to spend hours upon hours getting rid of tedious rules that make it impossible to get cards, and then farm spells to junction with.I mean:What kind of fucking asshole does that? I've been spending hours upon hours farming magic to junction with.Spoonyone was right, this fucking card system sucks.

  • @piromaniac9999 Hmm. Most of the card rules don't bother me so much. I just play against the Card Queen at Balamb at the start of the game to get to trade rule 'Diff' or 'All' and just spread that out, and try to avoid accumulating unnecessary rules if possible. You can play against the guy sitting by the water in Balamb to 'reset' the rules. The only exception is Random. Whoever the shit thought that the Random rule was in any way a good idea needs to die in a fire.

  • @Harkz0r I'm replaying FF8 on my downtime now to reconnect, and I love it. But what I love more, is coming to my favorite FF game to hear a soundtrack, and reading how everyone is geeking out. ^_^ Totes on the Random.

  • @piromaniac9999 Though I must admit that another game I adored was the original Valkyrie Profile as I felt the scenes with the Einherjar were highly compelling and emotional. VP2 was nowhere near as good as the only account of them was a textual biography. But I find more and more that the immediately noticeable content of a game - graphics, cinematics - are very refined these days, but at the expense of all the little background details that create a coherent and complete picture.

  • @Harkz0r I beat FFXIII recently, and i was massively disappointed with the ending.

I feel that too many games nowadays, have too many cutscenes and not enough narrative.

It kinda hurts the games, when you got too much filler content.

  • This song was just the introduction. Best introduction song ever probably.

  • when i clicked this link and by the first second it started i already smiled. good old memories :)

  • Damn i loved this game, went thru it 2-3 times :)

Kinda hated the Game Boy advance Version...

  • @TheChickenWrap I first played this game in the japanese version, i didnt understand what the classes and many of the habilities did... And also, the boss classes had great advantages over the american version. If i recall, in the duel against him Gafgarion has the speed of a ninja (if you're the same level), aside from his Dark Knight abilities...

And yes, i also picked characters because of their looks. Like 3 knights in a team.

  • Yeah I posted to the wrong video. I'm surprised it took the ueber-nerds that long to figure it out.

  • This song makes me feel like im in the game slicing people with my dagger

  • is it wrong that I like this better then one winged angel?

  • Ok, my attack does 30 damage with 60% accuracy that's nice...

    Gafgarion: NIGHT SWORD!!

WTF?? RANGED 100% HIGHER DAMAGE INSTANT ATTACK THAT HEALS HIM AFTERWARDS?

    That's fair.

  • @KlausBass I don't think you know of the power of a 97 bravery martial arts ninja Ramza, do you?

But damn, back when I was young and I did what I wanted because my teams looked cool, that fight was hard. It took me 6, 8 turns to kill Gafgarion?

  • This song always plays in my head whenever it rains...

  • Vagrant Story kicked ass.

  • FLASH FLASH REVOLUTION!

  • @TheMikon WotL's localization changes the dialogue to quasi-Shakespearean dialect - in order to preserve the themes of other Ivalice titles like Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy XII - and fixes many errors present in the original. The 'flowery' script isn't for everyone, but if you liked Vagrant Story's script then you'll enjoy this one (it's by the same guy).

There's also some additional items, side-quests, characters and a multiplayer mode. I say you should, despite some slowdown issues.

  • should I get a PSP to get WoL

  • @TheMikon War of the Lions changes the text (which may not bother first time players, but I couldn't play it, it lost the nostalgia that I had from it) so I'd probably recommend either getting the original cd or emulating it. IMO Because WoL changes something that the original significantly had, it can no longer be considered technically the same and as such fulfilling the requirements of owning the game before emulating it would require hunting down a collector's item, which is asking too much.

  • Damn Algus, too aggressive to be in the Party and would betray his own kind.

  • Algus and Gafgarion disliked this awesome track -.-

  • @Queklain666 Maybe the 3rd one are Zalmo,right?

  • @Queklain666 Har Har! You made a comment on the dislike bar. You're so clevar! Har Har Har!

  • every time i listen to this theme, it gets me ready for combat, also gets my blood running for battle. I want to grab a sword and slice an enemy like in tactics. I want to fight a few enemy with my group army, and for some reason be labeled a heretic like Ramza XD. but its a game so I cant really do it

  • I am playing this now and i listen to the music and say:SHIT!! i really really like the music for ff tactics.

I hear this and then say hmm:i never heard the music and really like it.

  • WHAAAAAAAAAA~! *dies*

  • "Never give up, trust your instincts!" Sorry, I know that is from a different game, but when I hear this song it is the line I always hear in my head. XD

  • I remember this random battle music well. I was up until the wee hours of the morning trying to level up my calculator and I hated when this track was played because it made me extremely drowsy.

  • @alcibiades1111

That's a pretty interesting story considering this isn't a random battle theme.

  • great

  • life is short...bury!

  • Hehe Delita got "Death Knight" at the end^^

  • STASIS SWORD!

  • "proud bastards" - Algus

  • always in my head oO

  • "It's the Will of Heaven!"

"Heaven? God would never say such things! In his eyes, all are equal! He'd never let this happen! Never!"

    "Animals have no God!!" -Algus

  • @Zagra160

Matilda: I'm done, Algus! I'm done! *takes off shirt and shakes Algus out of his bed*

  • This game was a BEAST my favorite game forever, Ivalice forever!!!

  • Agrias: "Life is short....Bury! Steady Sword!"

Gafgarion: "Master of all swords, cut energy! Night Sword!"

  • I can still hear the sound of the camera rotation ^^

  • @DrFred792005 That sound is stuck in my head too, such an amazing sound lol

  • @DrFred792005 Kinda makes you motion sick. Doesn't it?

  • @ComputuhWhiz Yeah kinda :) BLLLluuUuUUuUrrRRRRr !!!!

  • @DrFred792005

get out of my head augh

  • @DrFred792005 Wooshdedede

  • @DrFred792005 Lol!

  • I feel like any game with Hitoshi Sakimoto's music in it, I have to buy. I need to buy, I must buy. His stuff is incredible!

  • Ah I love FFT, the game, the story, the gameplay, and last and best of all, the music.

  • love the reverb this track has, vandal hearts 2 tracks are also amazing!

  • Like it so much~!!?

  • Kill them all! Don't leave any survivors!

  • one of the best FF games and the best FF TACTICS game!

  • God I hate the last battle in chapter 1. Algus and his damn auto-potion. mehhhh

  • Comment removed

  • Playing this game is like reading a historic document.

  • @Guardian016 Playing this game is like living a historical document.

  • @Guardian016 And a damn good one, let me ad.

  • @Guardian016 Yeh, but i think i dont like historic documents this much ^^D

  • @Guardian016 You mean it was boring?

  • This song sends shivers down my spine every time. It's been what, 15 years?

  • @MetaDrano My thoughts exactly. Cheers!

  • @MetaDrano

    Close, 1998, so 13 :-)

  • you guys like plots and twists, the treachery, etc? Then watch ''Game of Thrones''

on hbo, or the internet. its a great show, and will not dissapoint you.

  • @Maximus54545 Haha, I was listening to the Game of Thrones soundtrack and The King's Arrival sounded familiar and made me think to search this battle theme. Also, I agree that it won't disappoint. Game of Thrones is one of the best shows on TV, hands down.

  • This song is epic, no question.

  • I hated the Algus fight. He fights you with his crossbow and hides behind everyone, especially those annoying black mages. FACE ME LIKE A MAN YOU COWARD!

  • @CarrionSpirit .. erm... jerk maybe... coward? probably not. In the beginning of the game a strategy of placing your "tanks" first and your more delicate players last is the best strategy for beginners, otherwise, you'll be torn to shreds by the cpu.

  • why isn't razma on dissidia ff tactics has some of the best fight music in the franchise

  • @captainatomistheOne I've been thinking the same thing for months now. Him and Delita were some of the most compelling characters in Final Fantasy. I think there were reasons why Square-Enix hasn't done so though, FF tactics isn't as popular as mainstream series, and though I love the games oddball art style, he really doesn't stand out alongside the other lead FF characters. It's also good to note that out of all FF lead characters, Ramza is the only one who is close to being a normal warrior.

  • TO BATTLE!

  • Man, before you fight Algus, he talked all high and mighty, treating everyone like dirt.

When you do, He has Auto-potion, and is covered in his bodyguards.

    Algus.

    Y U No kill yourself?

  • Total beast of a track and definitely my favorite battle theme in the game. And to contribute to the general ant-Algus sentiments floating around this page, FUCK ALGUS. Seriously, is there any FF character as universally hated as him?

  • @DonAgalloch Well, there's Tidus...

  • @Saber698 Even Tidus, as much of an annoying crybaby as he is, has his fans. I can count on one hand the number of people I've seen that ever admitted to liking Algus at all. He's a complete and utter arrogant classist fucking bastard, though, so he deserves all the hate he gets and more.

  • @PsychoBurgundy6 True, But of course. Some characters were MADE to be hated in a series, but some people like those characters, so yeah, I can see people liking either one, but most of the time, well...yeah. :T

  • @PsychoBurgundy6

I think Tidus gets a bad rap. I mean, think of yourself as him. You're a super star, use to the finer things in life. Alluva sudden, your hometown gets wrecked, everyone's dying, a long lost mentor shows up and drags your ass thousands of years into the future with no food, you're cold, have no idea what's going on and are using a sword for the first time to defend yourself against things trying to murder you.. I might be a little bit of a crybaby myself if it happened to me.

  • UGH FUCK YOU ALGUS !! *Casts Zodiac on him* xD

  • Incorporating thousands of years of history and things such as the "mandate of heaven" idea into the game is truly genius.

  • @Colorfulnova I agree with you i actually believe is part of why it was so sucessful.

  • Damn that Algus he just hates everything doesn't he

  • This setting and style of music was heavily inspired by the Berserk anime.

    Bet you didn't know that.

  • ramza is a pretty looking girl

  • its true Gem why is it so hard to make a game that can even compare to FFT? FFXIII was SHIT. Period. and dont even get me started on FFIV when they still offer free months 6 months after the beta ended because its so bad...does anyone actually pay for FFIV online yet?

  • @SovereignME2 ur referring to FFXIV and not FFIV correct?

  • @Toshichica yes, yes I did.

  • @SovereignME2

lot of people do. ff14 is not THAT bad of a game. depends on what you like. if you're expecting some wow clone, you're gonna be depressed.

the current "free to play" is a calculated decision. it'll pay off in the long run... the improvements are flowing in.

the real question is "why can't square live up to their pre-3d glory? 7 was fine. not the greatest story ever told. (that would be 4 imo) but it was alright.

  • ahh....good old times....never played a game better than this

  • You know they did a good job with the characters if you end up hating one of them so much.

  • I would call Algus a bastard but that would insult bastards everywhere...

If I could I would cast a permanent reraise spell on him and lock him in a room full of Taimats.

  • You knew as soon as this theme kicked in you were in for a tough battle (minus the first battle.)

  • I hear people dying when I hear this song, but that's our job as mercenaries. Ramza Gaffgarion and Agrias and Rad and that other chick lol

  • Agrias: Life is short... Bury! STASIS SWORD!

    remembers first battle XD

  • Argath is bullshit.I loved his death!!

    FINALLY A NOBLE-IDIOT dies!!!

Ramza is the only noble who thinks correctly...

A world of peace and equalty for all!!

  • @strawhatspyros Balbanes was a nobleman and thought correctly as well.

  • I always unequip Algus and Delita in the beginning. Thanks for the battle boots suckers!

  • @napalmwedding LOL!! i was like that too. I always kill them for exp. They're useless though

  • @LordXemus essentially he would be the same as onion knight

  • @LordXemus I'd love to see them in Dissida 2 but I'm not sure they put either of them in...even as assists...We'll find out Tuesday.

  • Anyone else hears Night Sword and Statis Sword sound effects playing?

  • @Stahntaru Life is short…Bury! Steady Sword!

  • @Stahntaru Of course I do. :3

  • This is THE best battle theme I've heard in pretty much any SRPG...and possibly the best intro to the rest of this game's amazing music.

    M'fuckin' professional masterpiece.

  • Best Final Fantasy ever released

  • "OH GOD! It's the Hokuten!"

That poor bastard was right to be afraid.

  • 1 person never understood the joy of throw stone.

  • next paycheck I get I'm gonna go to the pawn shop and get this game!

  • if this game goes inte blockbuster movie, im definitely gonna watch it, the story is written just amazing
