The unswerving strength of KD Lang's long note is like being cut adrift in space. You don't even consider breathing as she stretches her whole form into them. It is as though she has absorbed all the emotions from her fans to set them eerily free from their own.
I had never heard this song before I listened to K D Lang sing it at the Canadian Olympics, blew me away, what a fantastic song and sang by a person with such an incredible voice, I can listen to her sing it all day and night long.

When Ever I am feeling sad or a bit lost, KD's voice singing hallelujah reminds me God is Closer then I remember sometimes. I love this version and KD is truely an amazing singer

@hnoss13 I'm far from a homophobe, I just think she's overrated. I can easily think of 100 voices that are better than hers. Almost every other version of this song I've heard was sung by someone with a better voice. She's nowhere close to Jeff Buckley's version.
John Legend called Buckley's version "as near perfect as you can get... It's one of the most beautiful pieces of recorded music I’ve ever heard."
Lang is OK, but if she wasn't a gay icon I don't think she would be nearly as famous.
@theinsomniac4life It's not only about the voice or the technical aspects, but also the performance. She immerses herself in the songs she sings and I believe that's what people are drawn to. You're right, there are a lot of good voices, but few who can invoke an emotional response. Anyway, just my theory. Naturally everyone has different tastes. I personally wonder what's so good about Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, for example, but obviously millions of other people love them.

Not knowing much about her, I made comments about how she looked like a man and laughed when this was playing during the Olympic ceremony. But when she started to sing, her voice was truly angelic. I take back everything I said about her, she's one of the most talented singers alive in my opinion.

KD Lang 'Nail's it' - the first time I heard this song was during the Olympia's - She easily beats anyone else who has sang this song that I have found - if anyone was wondering the verse where it mentions ... a gun and shoot ya' was not in the original version.

I do love KD Lang, always have. Seeing her perform live was one of my favorite concerts ever, and I hope to see her again one day.
Splendid job, KD.
That said, I would just like to say, if you have never heard RUFUS WAINWRIGHT do Hallelujah, then you have not heard it done at its very best. I know everyone has an opinion, but I think you will be amazed. Thank you, KD, thank you, Rufus!

she did a great version of this song, I wished I could of watched it live but the traffic to get to downtown vancouver and see her was just crazy so I sat at home an watched it, it was great she is an amazing singer. beatiful british columbia canada kicks ass wouldnt want to live anywhere else! maybe Maui haha

I had never heard this song before I listened to K D Lang sing it at the Canadian Olympics, blew me away, what a fantastic song and sang by a person with such an incredible voice, I can listen to her sing it all day and night long.

Her faith was strong but you needed proof. You saw her baithing on the roof of beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya. Imagine a faith so perfectly described by a female follower of Christ that it was rejected and completely left out. The only female voice. What made it was the belief in Jesus leading an army of destruction as if your merciful God would not have perfect rehabilitation of all his souls like a loving being not only believes but makes possible.

When Ever I am feeling sad or a bit lost, KD's voice singing hallelujah reminds me God is Closer then I remember sometimes. I love this version and KD is truely an amazing singer

@hnoss13 I'm far from a homophobe, I just think she's overrated. I can easily think of 100 voices that are better than hers. Almost every other version of this song I've heard was sung by someone with a better voice. She's nowhere close to Jeff Buckley's version.
John Legend called Buckley's version "as near perfect as you can get... It's one of the most beautiful pieces of recorded music I’ve ever heard."
Lang is OK, but if she wasn't a gay icon I don't think she would be nearly as famous.

@theinsomniac4life It's not only about the voice or the technical aspects, but also the performance. She immerses herself in the songs she sings and I believe that's what people are drawn to. You're right, there are a lot of good voices, but few who can invoke an emotional response. Anyway, just my theory. Naturally everyone has different tastes. I personally wonder what's so good about Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, for example, but obviously millions of other people love them.

I like both versions about the same, but this version at the Olympic stole the show on one of the biggest stages there is. Her gayness I don't believe enhances her popularity. I would say it has been more of a challenge - she started out long before this was widely accepted, attracting the attention of greats such as Roy Orbison. Anyway, just one guy's opinion

Not knowing much about her, I made comments about how she looked like a man and laughed when this was playing during the Olympic ceremony. But when she started to sing, her voice was truly angelic. I take back everything I said about her, she's one of the most talented singers alive in my opinion.
