Hah! My gods, the Doctor ACTUALLY told them his Jamie dear's name as his own. Now that's some devotion to an old companion, that is. XD I'm amazed that slipped my attention when I first saw this. Funny detail from the writers.
Because the old girl has been suffering under the Doctor's under-trained repair and maintenance ministrations for over 1,000 years. It's probably about to fall apart. :) Won't that make an interesting episode! Aside from that, Percussive maintenance is definitely a habit of the 10th Doctor.
