Hatsumi sensei is not of ninja bloodline. His sensei, Takamatsu, was the last living ninja of authentic bloodline. Takamatsu passed the soke title on to Hatsumi. Read some of Matsumi's earleir books like Essence of Ninjutsu, it explains everything. Hope this helps.

the ninja got their 'hype' from killing samurai who were legends in their own lifetime, goofy. I believe that ninja simply move quickly, intelligently, and stealthily enough to bewilder a pursuer in many environments.
the ninja are part of the assassins from ancient china, and they have kept the culture alive to this day, more successfully than aztec and babylon. and not through the popC, through training and performance in the real world.

i dont think ninjas were used much to kill samurais in fedual japan. they were used more for espionage and assasinating enemy generals and such, things that samurais weren't allowed to do
ninjas weren't from china anyhow, ancient chinese had assains just like ninja, but they call them shasho not ninja

The methods used by ninja included assassination, espionage, and a variety of martial arts. Look it up on Wikipedia. There not just assassins who wear "cool" looking clothes. And they don't just use throwing stars and short swords. They use alot of crap.
