you can't separate thinking and awareness. it is impossible because you need to think to be aware. and if you are aware then you are thinking. you don't have to be conscious of the fact that you are thing to be thinking. the universal intelligence is always aware of us and our thoughts however we(people in general) are often not aware that a universal intelligence exists and even will often disavow its exists but this has no impact on their ability to think logically or to think deep thoughts

I know that eckhart tolle's book the NEW EARTH has a powerful message and I also know that there is an inteligent behind the words he uses.I say so because through that book ,just one sentence has changed my life. now i wish every body would see what i see . I was a christian now i call my self just a spiritual person. because now i know who i really AIM. I disagree with you guys. I think Tolle teaches the exact opposite of what Hay is teaching. Hay thinks that being in the present and making self-affirmations is the same thing. Hay is creating new thought patterns in place of the old ones, when Tolle teaches to totally free yourself from compulsive thinking.

It also beats using it for "healing" of what will eventually die anyway. Trying to get powers to impress others isn't what Tolle teaches, and striving for gaining or maintaining what is impermanent is not the same thing is meeting and accepting the fact that you will lose EVERYTHING in time, even "powers."

Empyting the mind is to clear your desk to let the intuitions, inspiration in and block out fears and assumptions. Some religious people are so afraid of having an open mind, but how else can you see? Consciousness is conscious of the mind. The idea is by getting outside your thoughts to see the forest for the trees and see where we can add to our reality or where it is false. Thinking about something is looking at life from the outside and being in life has other awarenesses.

The most interesting thing happened to me. I went to the BODIES exhibit in LV. This was an eye opening event. I saw these lifeless shells. The thought that came to mind was the body is transportation device like an automobile. The body is just a container to hold our energy. It is like the body and mind are the computer hard drive and WE are the programers. Think about it. Your thoughts will create your life.

The mind and soul are separate. When he says that he stepped back from his mind into awareness, it means that he was able to feel this deeper truth from his soul. The mind is a temporary facade, whereas your soul is eternal and is your only true essence.
