love this game (X3 AP) decided F it took my Centaur running EBCG on the front into a xenon
area, i managed to take down 3 Q's and limp out at 5% hull and no shields and 2 guns left! took me 3 hours to limp her to a shipyard! very fun game, i know EBCG aren't the best but i wanted to have fun!
The game is awesome, but got very shit and pathetic Storyline and its very very hard to learn, there is no tutorial, you are just put in the middle of big universe with a tiny ship and nothing is explained...
@ImMOrTaLBG92 True that, when i started with X2 i deleted it after the first try, but when i gave it a second try it was awesome, which finally brought me to X3. That game is the real deal when talking about space games.
Nice Nova action! For a long time it was my favourite ship, probably because the rear turret made silkworms a LOT less scary for a novice like me. Once I tried out the Split Mamba though, I honestly never looked back. Easily my top M3 - with a couple of HEPTs, some PACs and a pair of PBEs (for missles and those annoying M5s), and maxed out engines, you really don't miss the shields or turret, and that speed, in a heavy, is just glorious.
@kieran369 My Rig is decent but not stupendous. Geforce 8600, 2 gb ram, Dual core Athlon. I had to play a little with the graphics settings to get it smooth but it was still the high end of the graphics settings for me.
@jjoshaugh Haha, to be honest, Geforce 8600 and 2gb ram, with a dual core athlon ... is what I would class as a 'poor' system. 8600 was not a performance card when it came out, and that was what, 4 year ago? However I'm not trying to be mean - this is an awesome video. My point is, this game should run well on any modern system :) Even a lower end one.
@0liverwarren Oh no offense taken. I haven't upgraded in quite a while so its good to have a perspective of someone "on the market" as it were. But yes, it just shows that you should not be afraid to buy the game even if you concider your system as a poor one, as you can and will get visuals like this.
@jjoshaugh I'm using a laptop now so I can't even upgrade - it sucks :( Out of interest, is this game worth buying? Can you get a bigger ship than a 'fighter' ?
@0liverwarren Yep. You can fly anything up to and including capital ships. The Hyperion that I am flying is a frigate and pretty much the supership of the game, as in with the speed of a fighter and turrets. There are far bigger ships though.
As an economic space sim X3R brilliant and somewhat better in that regard than its sequel Terran Conflict. TC is better and more balanced in terms of fighting though. I still play both games at different times.
@0liverwarren well, actually, you can optimize any system for max performance, i optimized my Athlon XP and 6200 with 1Gb of RAM to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R or COD4 or even COD6 (i played all this games on my system and they all runs on 25+ FPS, which is pretty comfortable), so, if you not running any antivirus (which is pretty heavy for system) and actually other programs it will run smooth and btw, don't, don't underrate low-end systems, they can be heavily optimized
And btw, X2 and X3 are 2006 and 2005 year games, that means they are pretty old games and actually they not have very good graphics to heavy the system (they have very good graphics for time of their development actually) the only thing, that can be heavy for system is if their engine is not very optimized
What really sets the X games apart is the love from the modding community, I just tried out the new Xtended mod for Terran Conflict and it looks glorious, the weapon and ship stats and sound tweaks alone are amazing, can't wait for the plots to be added :P of course there's a lot of other huge mods too, like Transcendence.
@m76gmm Freespace is a mission based combat game. This is a game where you build up money to buy ships and factories to make stuff and buy stuff. They are quite different, and freespace is better from a purely fighting aspect. The X games are entirely singleplayer.

If you go the the egosoft boards there will be lots of people pleased to help you do it the longer way, but X3 is a game that's meant to be savored and is kinda slow to build up. X3 Terran Conflict is a bit faster in the money making dept.
I tried cheats on my old game but wtf made the game REALLY boring:p
Now on my new game 8 factorys 37 ships yaaaay (I know not that good but lol cmon newbie here.....) My own mini war fleet lol Paranid deimos carrier M7 (really good I would reccomend 6X1GJ Shields all the way:)) a Paranid Perseus, a Nova (Gonna fill it with more Persues but only have 45 million creds and in the midst of expanding buissness empire btw have to invade pirate sector to build meh space fuel complex.....)
@micko77777 I would like to help you but my when I try to start my game it goes could not locate X3.exe or something sadly I can't get it to work again but I think a silicon mine in Ore Belt with over 60 silicon resource thing would help alot, it is very profitable. If your not sure on how to manage factories or something just reply again - i'm not sure what sorta tip you want lol:)
On a side note anyone had this problem with game start up themselves?
Check out weapons and missile factories. If you find one that has an almost full inventory (i.e. sells at the cheapest price) you can sell them off at equipment docs for nice cash :)
Try to do dog fight in the terran covette the Springblossom, fighter size ish(since it fit into fighter docking bay in station), M5 speed , 4X200MJ shield and 8 M/-M launcher. Chase down other M5 in it and only take 1 hit of the 8 in a volley to kill them.
Going to try to take down some M2(except the kark one -.-) with it.
@BadYahtzee The Springblosson is in X3-Terran Conflict like all terran ships. This is X3: Reunion, whcih came out before that. But thanks for your comment :)
You buy new ships at shipyards, which are scattered about the place. Theres one at Argon Prime for example. Bigger ships need better rank with the race that owns the shipyards. And certain types of ships are only sold at one shipyard.
Yeah its a huge game. My advice is sit back and relax and learn one thing at a time. The nice thing about it is the game really does wait for you a lot.. And savor the experience. I get a silly moment of pride when my first factory goes online, for example :)
IRE's are useless against anything over an M5. I found that a combination of HEPT's and PAC's do quite a good job in any M3, and they work great in M6's as well. On my Nova I keep 5 aHEPT's and 3 aPAC's - just aPAC's for cleaning up small mess, and going full-power on larger bastards. Needless to say, the Hyperion can fry just about anything - I've slaughtered alot with it, from M5's up to Xenon J's and occasionally a stray K.
The scores of Xenon LX's that I've nailed with a pirate buster packing 4 BIREs and 2 APACs disagree with you, my son. Hell IREs are deadly to M4s and will take down M3s withg a little patience.
IREs are very accurate at very long range, and keep firing no matter how much they twisat and turn, whereas AHEPTS are useless outside point blank and drain your capacitor to nothing. Theres a reason that in X-TC the bad guys use IOREs a lot as they actually make the bad guys more dangerous.
That's partly true, partly false...IRE's are hull-killers, yes, but slap some 25MJ shields over the hull and you've got time to make yourself a coffee while you're at it. And when I'm diving into a pack of 8 pirates, the last thing I feel like doing is getting to know them better. I've used IRE's alot, but I've skipped on them awhile ago. I've taken my PAC/HEPT Mamba Vanguard out hunting many times, and the number of capped ships I sold tell me I'm doing pretty well.
Also, I use missiles alot. Trust me, with the right missiles in the cargo bay, I don't need to fire one single shot against a 8-pirate squadron - they're space junk before they know it. And I don't bother stretching out any fights, there's no use. I pop in, fry the M3's and M4's with the PAC/HEPT's, then give the M5's a run for their money by sending them a nice, shiny Hurricane missile. Pirates use IRE's because they're good OOS, and that's where they can score. In-sector, they're toast.
Also, at 2:16, when you say the Ospreys are tough, don't forget you're using mainly IRE's against 4*125 MJ :) not trying to be ironic, offensive or anything, just sayin' that you're kinda "shooting a watergun at a tank" :D
And I've done fights against 25 mj equipped M3s. One battle run on them and the shields are gone with IREs. The difference is really trying to fight with skill rather than blow everything apart at point blank. Check out my dogfighting totorial for when I gimped myself even more and still tore through some 25mj equipped fighters.
Having not played any game in the X series but having a bit of experience with space flight sims, usually my fave weapons loadout (at least for a fighter of any type) would be a majority of low energy consumption medium damage rapid-fire guns, a few high damage slower-firing ones, and finally one or two missile launchers for head-to-head passes or long-range termination of sub-components on larger ships. How's that look to you?
Pretty much the standard setup I fly in an m3. You don't have a "Missile launcher" module, you carry missiles in your hold and if your fighter can launch that missile type you can launch them anytime.
Well, it depends what you understand by skill, and it really depends on the situation you're in. I have a mod - can't recall its name - that makes pirate patrols much bigger, so now 8-10 pirate ships cruising together is a regular thing. And not all of them are M%'s or M4's, there are atleast 5 or 6 heavy fighters and the rest are M4's mostly, maybe one or two M5's on every group. And it's not that easy, since you have to flank them to get a good shot, and that's hard wahen they're going crazy.
Who said it was easy? Easymode is blowing a heavy fighter apart on one pass.
With IREs you can use long range fire to strip them down in relative safety while they are firing HEPTs into thin air. Which is the kind of fight us dogfighters like :)
You make a good point, and I think I'm gonna pop back some IRE's in my ship and have a go at it. Thing is, I frequently go raiding/big-ship hunting into Xenon sectors and hunt down the bastards when I'm not wandering around or managing my complexes, and that's probably where I've got this whole thing with slappin' big guns on my ships. Come to think of it, that's probably it, since I don't like being at the receiving end of a PBE beam while the bastards swarm around me.
Yeah I mean thats all cool. At the end of the day, thats the main thing. Whether you fight with IREs ar HEPTs, if you enjoy the way you fight that's the main thing.
And hell we were both right in different situations :) There's times I go in with the big guns blasting too :D
I found that when flying anything larger than an M3 + its less important on speed and firepower but more on how you set up your guns against your target. I take on Xenon attack groups (1P, 4 Ls, 2 Ms) and just use a Centaur with APAC turrets. and 3 forward AHEPT.
Kauf dir ne argon Nova des Typs angreifer ist nochmal 11 speed schneller und hat mehr angriffsenergy ey ^^ aber die nova an sich ist ein killer allein liebt sie ♥
i have reunion and fs and fs2 and i must tell you that freespace (especially 2) is better - this huge battles, giant battleships (with lasers!), freespace have other atmosphere...
How big can ships get in this game? I have it on my steam but i never played it that often. Might just start if you can get giant ones bristling with guns.
They get very big. Carrier class ships are the biggest, and they can have say 60 of the ships you saw flying dock in them. Destroyers, which are pretty much the same size as Carriers, but instead of hangers have giant power generators, are pretty much moving weapons platforms.
got the hyperion withour the bala gi mission using script editor :D anyone wanna know how send me a message :D im gonna post out a video about it very soon or later :D
before I lost my old savegames, I tended to use my Colossus as a battering ram, if I would see any capital ship with no shields and low hull health, I'd ram it if I had the shields enough.
oddly crashing into the enemy to finish them is a popular trick used by many on the x3 forums i think they call it "head on". one trick i forgot to mention is to crash your m6 or hyperion into a khaak cluster Very affective.
I spent far to much time on this game racked up 1 month in game time xD i just set up aload of traders etc and they would run routes then id buy a factory here and there one month later the PC in the corner running it died it wasnt turned off once xD
Yeah. You can build ships alright from a headquarters building you get from the Bala Gi missions, but you need a lot of materials. essentially people have spent their time setting up entire complexes to support the HQ.
And you can command entire fleets in late game. The interface is not the best at it but there are several scripts that can improve it.
when dog fighting and the enemy is near to popping my old trick is to crash into them at most you only lose a small amount of health and shilds...i once took down a xenon battleship this way in a split dragon in sector defence its hard to remember but i think i made something like several million that way.
I actually have a similar setup on my Hyperion now for general use but I try and swap to the HEPTs for attacking cap ships. Its a pain swapping turret weapons on the fly though in x3.
I just BHEPT the entire ship [M7], i've come up against nothing so far that can with stand a 5-10 second burst of that kind of weaponry, excluding M1,M2. Maybe the TL's take a bit longer, but they still arnt a challenge.
Currently playing X2 on gametap, fun game if a bit hard to get into. Question, are you using a joystick or mouse? I'm using a mouse and honestly I can't shoot for shit.
First a HEPT in a turret is useless. what you are looking for in a turret is defense and HEPTs fire too slowly and travel too slowly.
Second good luck keeping your energy in any kind of fight with that. The HEPT in the turret will be eating its way through your energy levels, and once it drops below a certain point the turret wont fire. And the other weapons you have on it will just murder your energy levels the second you fire them. I can kill stuff with my standard layout pretty fast...
... as you can see in the last sequence when I destroyed a pirate falcon in less than 4 seconds. And I am able to keep fighing constantly with that configuration with careful energy management.
Third as I keep saying, the 6 AIRE nova was an experiment. And I had a pretty good time flying round with it.
Anyway thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the vid.
Heh. By the way I wasn't criticizing you I was just explaining my own reasons. If it works for you feel free, and in many ways you are right. I still think a HEPT in the turret is a bad idea though.
One of the thinks I like about the game is that there are nearly as many opinions on the right thing to do as there are players.
hi, seeing yor vids r very helpfull nd evrything, nd obvioudly yor a expereieced player, so i was wondering if u could giv me a few tips at wat to do, from the very beggining?
Mate I'm not trying to blow you off but thats a really really large topic. I would trade silicon and leave nav sats everywhere silicon is bought and sold. And do the first 2 missions of the plot so you have a free jump drive. Best way to earn cash initially. Start on easy so you have a freighter.
But really the best advice I have for you is to download the fan made X3 handbook. Its truly excellent and covers nearly everything. To find it google:
What I did is set up 16 universal traders first, and then set up a complex selling drones, AIREs, BIRES, 1MN and 5MN shields. That brings in massive amounts of cash. Oh and at one pount you get an oremine in ther plot so I set that up into a small complex selling squash mines. (the trading port in that system buys them) Oh and I have a complex selling Crystals in the sectors in the bottom right of the map
Thats my route to millions. :) After that you do that you want.
i just made a complex in ore belt in one of the high-yield silicon asteroids that produces spacefuel. it is completely self-sufficient so it only makes money and not spends any. only disadvantage is that im flying around with my TL the whole bloody day picking up more scouts cause they are either blown up or fly into a rock :(
You could do the same in the high yield silicon rock in Herrons Nebula with not nearly as many problems with having stuff run into asteroids.
"Illegal" product complexes (Spacefuel, spaceweed, squash mines I think) are the best money makers in X3, but I don't use them for roleplaying/idiotic reasons. :)
You don't even have to have traders selling them, the NPCs come to you, which means you don't risk any loss of Faction rating. :P
i got a luxury problem and a big problem with that complex... spacefuel is producing to much but my crystal fabs cant keep up with the solar plant, so crystals are going down hard
Hmm.. complexes can be hard to balance. There are a number of complex calculator spreadsheets that you can try. I like "Factory Complex Calculator X3 version 2.0 compatible" (google those terms) Build your complex in that and then play around till it balances.
Or you could leave it and have a trader buying crystals to keep it topped up as a temporary measure. But it can take some time for the NPCs to pass through and buy as they move independantly... and don't kill pirate bases :)
you should do a "How to fight with a fleet." video.
i have 5 cruisers and 2 carriers, and when i do fleet actions usually i fly whatever i want at the moment, and i spearhead my assault and let my ships do their thing. watching 60 novas come out of each carrier is really badass as well. but you should make a video showing how to do a fleet battle, itd be interesting and EPIC. i would but i cant use recorder programs for some reason.
i use 4 mass drivers under the wings, the rest are A-PAC's, and another A-PAC on the rear turret. if you have XTM i seriously recommend finding the "pandora box" items scattered around in hard to reach areas, with them i have supertuned my nova to 370m/s!
I know about different loadouts. If you look at the end you see me in a PNR with 3 HEPTs and 5 APACs, for example, which is pretty much my standard loadout. That was filmed before the first segment. I actualy rarely use the HEPTs.
The reason for the AIREs is that I wanted to see how it worked. I enjoy experimenting and using non optimal setups and ships. (See my preivious vid for example) I see it as a challange. And it was fun, and it made a better video IMO.
The pandora Messeges are real. I dont have XTM installed myself but its a great mod and made by some great people. YOu can get it and other mods if you look at the Xuniverse website (Search engine should take you to it)

You buy new ships at shipyards, which are scattered about the place. Theres one at Argon Prime for example. Bigger ships need better rank with the race that owns the shipyards. And certain types of ships are only sold at one shipyard.
jjoshaugh 2 years ago
Thanks man. I downloaded a map of the systems. Shows where's everything is. Helps a lot. Didn't realize how big it was.
StinkyGreenBud 2 years ago 6

DevilDog016 2 years ago
The scores of Xenon LX's that I've nailed with a pirate buster packing 4 BIREs and 2 APACs disagree with you, my son. Hell IREs are deadly to M4s and will take down M3s withg a little patience.
IREs are very accurate at very long range, and keep firing no matter how much they twisat and turn, whereas AHEPTS are useless outside point blank and drain your capacitor to nothing. Theres a reason that in X-TC the bad guys use IOREs a lot as they actually make the bad guys more dangerous.
jjoshaugh 2 years ago
That's partly true, partly false...IRE's are hull-killers, yes, but slap some 25MJ shields over the hull and you've got time to make yourself a coffee while you're at it. And when I'm diving into a pack of 8 pirates, the last thing I feel like doing is getting to know them better. I've used IRE's alot, but I've skipped on them awhile ago. I've taken my PAC/HEPT Mamba Vanguard out hunting many times, and the number of capped ships I sold tell me I'm doing pretty well.
DevilDog016 2 years ago
Also, I use missiles alot. Trust me, with the right missiles in the cargo bay, I don't need to fire one single shot against a 8-pirate squadron - they're space junk before they know it. And I don't bother stretching out any fights, there's no use. I pop in, fry the M3's and M4's with the PAC/HEPT's, then give the M5's a run for their money by sending them a nice, shiny Hurricane missile. Pirates use IRE's because they're good OOS, and that's where they can score. In-sector, they're toast.
DevilDog016 2 years ago
Also, at 2:16, when you say the Ospreys are tough, don't forget you're using mainly IRE's against 4*125 MJ :) not trying to be ironic, offensive or anything, just sayin' that you're kinda "shooting a watergun at a tank" :D
DevilDog016 2 years ago
YOu forgot tyhe 3 HEPTs I was tossing at them.
And I've done fights against 25 mj equipped M3s. One battle run on them and the shields are gone with IREs. The difference is really trying to fight with skill rather than blow everything apart at point blank. Check out my dogfighting totorial for when I gimped myself even more and still tore through some 25mj equipped fighters.
jjoshaugh 2 years ago
And as you can see in the end sequence I was kicking several rounds of ass... and people still critisise me for not using more HEPTs. Sheesh. :)
Its really what you enjoy doing I guess.
jjoshaugh 2 years ago
Having not played any game in the X series but having a bit of experience with space flight sims, usually my fave weapons loadout (at least for a fighter of any type) would be a majority of low energy consumption medium damage rapid-fire guns, a few high damage slower-firing ones, and finally one or two missile launchers for head-to-head passes or long-range termination of sub-components on larger ships. How's that look to you?
aekhoo 2 years ago
Pretty much the standard setup I fly in an m3. You don't have a "Missile launcher" module, you carry missiles in your hold and if your fighter can launch that missile type you can launch them anytime.
jjoshaugh 2 years ago
Well, it depends what you understand by skill, and it really depends on the situation you're in. I have a mod - can't recall its name - that makes pirate patrols much bigger, so now 8-10 pirate ships cruising together is a regular thing. And not all of them are M%'s or M4's, there are atleast 5 or 6 heavy fighters and the rest are M4's mostly, maybe one or two M5's on every group. And it's not that easy, since you have to flank them to get a good shot, and that's hard wahen they're going crazy.
DevilDog016 2 years ago
Who said it was easy? Easymode is blowing a heavy fighter apart on one pass.
With IREs you can use long range fire to strip them down in relative safety while they are firing HEPTs into thin air. Which is the kind of fight us dogfighters like :)
jjoshaugh 2 years ago
You make a good point, and I think I'm gonna pop back some IRE's in my ship and have a go at it. Thing is, I frequently go raiding/big-ship hunting into Xenon sectors and hunt down the bastards when I'm not wandering around or managing my complexes, and that's probably where I've got this whole thing with slappin' big guns on my ships. Come to think of it, that's probably it, since I don't like being at the receiving end of a PBE beam while the bastards swarm around me.
DevilDog016 2 years ago
Yeah I mean thats all cool. At the end of the day, thats the main thing. Whether you fight with IREs ar HEPTs, if you enjoy the way you fight that's the main thing.
And hell we were both right in different situations :) There's times I go in with the big guns blasting too :D
jjoshaugh 2 years ago
Oh, I am looking forward to trying this game. I like your choice of music, very relaxing.

jjoshaugh 2 years ago
just use 8X alpha HEPT and you can destroy any fighter in X3R :P
5245jah 2 years ago
I found that when flying anything larger than an M3 + its less important on speed and firepower but more on how you set up your guns against your target. I take on Xenon attack groups (1P, 4 Ls, 2 Ms) and just use a Centaur with APAC turrets. and 3 forward AHEPT.

How big can ships get in this game? I have it on my steam but i never played it that often. Might just start if you can get giant ones bristling with guns.
Leon9010 3 years ago
They get very big. Carrier class ships are the biggest, and they can have say 60 of the ships you saw flying dock in them. Destroyers, which are pretty much the same size as Carriers, but instead of hangers have giant power generators, are pretty much moving weapons platforms.

the argon nova in x3 terran conflict dosent have has many weapon slots

KillerZetzz 3 years ago
You both take damage. It used to be a favorite way of taking out ships with a heavilly shielded fighter.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
before I lost my old savegames, I tended to use my Colossus as a battering ram, if I would see any capital ship with no shields and low hull health, I'd ram it if I had the shields enough.

Try to get the Terran M0
i think it was Valhalla.
Syo1 3 years ago
oddly crashing into the enemy to finish them is a popular trick used by many on the x3 forums i think they call it "head on". one trick i forgot to mention is to crash your m6 or hyperion into a khaak cluster Very affective.
PS. anyone know were to get a good M0 mod from ?.
Reven338 3 years ago
you could try the Xtended mod from thexuniverse forums. That has an M0 In it along with a lot of other stuff. I'm sure there are other ones though.

Yes I was and yes you can. They are pretty slow and sluggish, but you definatly can ride around on one and really enjoy yourself.

sweet i love commmanding battleships... one more question can u command armies and give them commands and build ships ?
commandotoy 3 years ago
You can command ships but you can sorta build them... it takes a long time to get to that point though. You'll be buying ships mostly.
CSargeP 3 years ago
Agreed.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
I spent far to much time on this game racked up 1 month in game time xD i just set up aload of traders etc and they would run routes then id buy a factory here and there one month later the PC in the corner running it died it wasnt turned off once xD
Gamersunited22 3 years ago
Yeah. You can build ships alright from a headquarters building you get from the Bala Gi missions, but you need a lot of materials. essentially people have spent their time setting up entire complexes to support the HQ.
And you can command entire fleets in late game. The interface is not the best at it but there are several scripts that can improve it.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
sweet sounds fun and it does look like good graphics is it really good graphics ?
commandotoy 3 years ago
Yeah the graphics are pretty damn sweet.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
alright u got me i gonna get it

when dog fighting and the enemy is near to popping my old trick is to crash into them at most you only lose a small amount of health and shilds...i once took down a xenon battleship this way in a split dragon in sector defence its hard to remember but i think i made something like several million that way.

On my Hyperion all my turrets are BPACs My forward guns are BHEPTs. I don't trust the turrets, so I give them guns that miss less often.
blacksheepwall79 3 years ago
I actually have a similar setup on my Hyperion now for general use but I try and swap to the HEPTs for attacking cap ships. Its a pain swapping turret weapons on the fly though in x3.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
On myn I use 8 Beta Impulse Ray Emitters as forward guns. All my turrets are BPAC's
Deadonstick 3 years ago
I just BHEPT the entire ship [M7], i've come up against nothing so far that can with stand a 5-10 second burst of that kind of weaponry, excluding M1,M2. Maybe the TL's take a bit longer, but they still arnt a challenge.

the nova is so awesome

Currently playing X2 on gametap, fun game if a bit hard to get into. Question, are you using a joystick or mouse? I'm using a mouse and honestly I can't shoot for shit.
narutoinu123 3 years ago
I use a joystick. There are big differences between X2 and X3 combat. X3's one is much improved in many areas
Cant give you much advice on shooting though, but in X2 its basically get as close as you can and use the biggest gun :P
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
nice fights and i dont want to be a critic or flame your nova, but imo 4 alpha-HEPT and 4 Beta-PAC's and a hept turret are better
FarosWarrior 3 years ago
First a HEPT in a turret is useless. what you are looking for in a turret is defense and HEPTs fire too slowly and travel too slowly.
Second good luck keeping your energy in any kind of fight with that. The HEPT in the turret will be eating its way through your energy levels, and once it drops below a certain point the turret wont fire. And the other weapons you have on it will just murder your energy levels the second you fire them. I can kill stuff with my standard layout pretty fast...
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
... as you can see in the last sequence when I destroyed a pirate falcon in less than 4 seconds. And I am able to keep fighing constantly with that configuration with careful energy management.
Third as I keep saying, the 6 AIRE nova was an experiment. And I had a pretty good time flying round with it.
Anyway thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the vid.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
true true, and EVE FTW ^^
FarosWarrior 3 years ago
Heh. By the way I wasn't criticizing you I was just explaining my own reasons. If it works for you feel free, and in many ways you are right. I still think a HEPT in the turret is a bad idea though.
One of the thinks I like about the game is that there are nearly as many opinions on the right thing to do as there are players.
Thanks again!
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
Oh... Shame. When I saw "bigger ships", I was expecting M6 ships, too... That said, you're good in that Nova!
DarkRaven4649 3 years ago
Its bigger than the M4 I was using in my last vid. :)
Anyway that title was the best I could come up with... and thats really sad to think about :D
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
hi, seeing yor vids r very helpfull nd evrything, nd obvioudly yor a expereieced player, so i was wondering if u could giv me a few tips at wat to do, from the very beggining?
thanks a lot,
aaron9099 3 years ago
Mate I'm not trying to blow you off but thats a really really large topic. I would trade silicon and leave nav sats everywhere silicon is bought and sold. And do the first 2 missions of the plot so you have a free jump drive. Best way to earn cash initially. Start on easy so you have a freighter.
But really the best advice I have for you is to download the fan made X3 handbook. Its truly excellent and covers nearly everything. To find it google:
The X3 Handbook V2
Good luck!
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
thanks a lot m8, and yeah, already downloaded the handbook, bloody excellent stuff, anywys thanks
aaron9099 3 years ago
Oh I'll be specific.
:) After that you do that you want.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
youve made a very confused and naive teenager see the light today, cheers m8!
aaron9099 3 years ago
i just made a complex in ore belt in one of the high-yield silicon asteroids that produces spacefuel. it is completely self-sufficient so it only makes money and not spends any. only disadvantage is that im flying around with my TL the whole bloody day picking up more scouts cause they are either blown up or fly into a rock :(
FarosWarrior 3 years ago
You could do the same in the high yield silicon rock in Herrons Nebula with not nearly as many problems with having stuff run into asteroids.
"Illegal" product complexes (Spacefuel, spaceweed, squash mines I think) are the best money makers in X3, but I don't use them for roleplaying/idiotic reasons. :)
You don't even have to have traders selling them, the NPCs come to you, which means you don't risk any loss of Faction rating. :P
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
i got a luxury problem and a big problem with that complex... spacefuel is producing to much but my crystal fabs cant keep up with the solar plant, so crystals are going down hard
FarosWarrior 3 years ago
Hmm.. complexes can be hard to balance.
But it can take some time for the NPCs to pass through and buy as they move independantly... and don't kill pirate bases :)
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
Really? I havent seen them myself, but thats not really surprising as I personally don't do a lot of BBS missions.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
good luck, they are a real bitch to find!
coldstar07 3 years ago
you should do a "How to fight with a fleet." video.
i have 5 cruisers and 2 carriers, and when i do fleet actions usually i fly whatever i want at the moment, and i spearhead my assault and let my ships do their thing. watching 60 novas come out of each carrier is really badass as well. but you should make a video showing how to do a fleet battle, itd be interesting and EPIC. i would but i cant use recorder programs for some reason.
JamaicanMan18 3 years ago
Cool vid. Upgrade your Nova seriously. I use 4 AHEPTs and 4 APACS, and a AHEPT in the turret.
GeneralAjaxus 3 years ago
i use 4 mass drivers under the wings, the rest are A-PAC's, and another A-PAC on the rear turret. if you have XTM i seriously recommend finding the "pandora box" items scattered around in hard to reach areas, with them i have supertuned my nova to 370m/s!
coldstar07 3 years ago
Guys, thanks for the comments!
And it was fun, and it made a better video IMO.
jjoshaugh 3 years ago
I'll look for those. I saw something about it on the BBS, but I didn't think it was real.
GeneralAjaxus 3 years ago
The pandora Messeges are real. I dont have XTM installed myself but its a great mod and made by some great people. YOu can get it and other mods if you look at the Xuniverse website (Search engine should take you to it)
