I wish the term 'senior' would be adopted for older people here in the UK (the usual term is 'pensioner'); I think the term 'senior' is so much more respectful and dignified.
I feel humbled when I listen to people such as these ladies. They all lived through some of the most momentous times in human history; their positive and good-natured attitudes are an inspiration to us all.
I have such a genuine love and respect for our older people. The things they have seen, lived through, is both a priceless gift and lesson to us all if we will just listen.
Their experience is amazing.
We should all make more of an effort to visit homes like this to spend time with them. So many of them have families who never come to see them.
wow - younger people complain they don't have time to register, vote, etc. - and yet these elderly people manage.
Although I think it's good that many more people voted in this election, you have to ask yourself why so many of these people never voted before, and never bothered to register before this Registering to vote also means that you'll be called for jury duty, btw.
You just answered your own question. Registering means jury duty, and many people don't want that. I think that is why, at least for some who don't register.
I'm 23 and I fear that my old age will be during an apocalyptic war, a time when the USA will be a third world country & the strongest looters will rule the streets.
I agree with "withoutachoice." The strongest looters today reside in corrupt activity within public office. I was referring to future looters who will master trickery, stealth and murder to steal from homes long after super markets have been raided.
Well I'm 18 and a freshman in college. Does this mean I'm too ignorant to vote? I'd like to think that I'm more politically informed than most Americans. And just because someone's living in an assisted living facility makes no difference--after all, their brains still work!
no...you are not ignorant at all...you just do not have the life experience and the maturity to make a desition like this one...you have no idea about real economic challenges, supporting a family, being every day out there making a living and putting you, in fact, in college! until you do many of these things, you won be able to really value the importance of the governing party.
i think at least, one of these ladies is not really in shape enough to understand and vote in her own convictions...the same way you have to be 18 before you can vote, it should be a limit age..also, i think 18 is too early to cast a vote, no mature enough to understand all the choices you are really voting for...you are not old enough for a glass of wines but you can have a saying in who can rule the country??? to me, it doesn't make sense..???
Thats actually the most ridiculous comment i have heard in a long time. I worked with the elderly for years and that is far from what i experienced. No matter how old or mentally or physically damaged you ar, you still have options and ideas and should still vote.
thatsodiesel...i have seen many seniours influenced..i have seen ppl aiding seniours and using them in their own choice benefit ... i respect the eldery so much, i just believe, in great numbers, they are used, that is it
I agree with you totally and I think they should over turn the voting age go back to 21
To think some 18 year old kid who has no idea what life experiences have in store for them should not be able to vote. If they are in the military active then maybe but not your average 18 year old who vote is based on Obama's talk still alot of unanswered questions.I'd like answers on. from Obama
classylady44 i don't trust him either...live & see. i bet whatever you want to bet that first he'll take americans it's going to be hard. it is not his fault but bush & republicans. he's going to start his 2012 campaign since now.then, while he keeps taking away from us, he is going to tell us. you have to work with me, you are going to have to make sacrificies and guess what? ppl are going to gladly make sacrificies. ppl want to be lie at. ppl do not want to have the responsability of thinking!
has nothing to do with defending i'm tired of ignorance...besides..since u asked, I save lives. that's what I do for you and america. at least I tolerate and accept and do act like an idiot
I am 20. I would have been disgusted if I couldn't vote in this election. I eat, sleep, and breath politics, and the fact that you are just bitter at young people because they get a say is sad and pathetic. Perhaps if John McCain even MENTIONED what he would have done to benefit college students, he would have done better than 33% among 18-29 year olds. Again the fact that you want to deny a significant voting bloc the right to vote because they didnt vote for your candidate is wholly unamerican
not true.but i see more & more 18yro+ living in dorms that parents pay for, driving cars thta parents pay for, going to school that parents pay for, coming home when they need + help and calling home when they need + $. where do you think those parents get the money from? now these parents are going to get taxed more and more.i guess, we could now say to our teenagers that feel that we are wrong, sorry, i don't have any more money & you're old enough to make your own live and personal desitions.
Are you serious? Firstly, you shouldn't be able to vote, because you cannot spell. Sound fair? Secondly, the bulk of college students, including myself, take out loans, fully knowing that we will owe upwards of $100,000 by the time we get out. And if I am old enough to make my own "desitions," I think I am old enough to vote. Again, you're views are completely un-American.
Obviously I appreciate my parents for raising me. The fact that you think all college kids find their parents good for nothing more than money is ridiculous. But who put me there? Me. I got the grades in high school. And again, I am taking out the loans. If I can take on that responsibility, I can vote. And yes, you are anti-American, because you feel the need to obstruct the rights of a crucial bloc of voters, a bloc that all candidates will try for, because your candidate lost. That is sad.
i have not mention any candidate...and by the way, most of the seniors voted mccain. i am not ani-american but, according to your own words, the ton of obamas' cadidates that were around stealing mccain signs from ppl yards, they are anti-american and denigning the american flag and the honor that should be given, that is anti-american and you wanting me to think like you and if no, i am an idiot...that is anti-american...obama and his wife, they are anti-american!
Alright, I don't know what "denigning" the American flag means, but I don't recall mentioning anybody stealing yard signs. I agree, that is childish. And no, I have respect for McCain voters and John McCain himself. I do not need you to think like me. Actually, it is you who is frustrated that I do not think like you, and because of that, you want to suppress my vote. THAT is what is un-American.
so...it is idiot who says drinking age 21? according to you we should allow our 18 yrs. old to drink since they can go to war...and i did not lost, America lost and you are not the only soldier in here...thak you for your service..but, recongnize that i have the right to my opinion and you have the right to your opinion as long as respect goes in front of it
are you serious?? i really hope you're joking because when you get older, with your hostile thoughts somebody is gonna get tired of you and shoot you. seriously, not cool.
right, that law was changed in 1971 when she was 63 plus if she is 100 it wasn't a voting year when she was 18 the earliest she could have voted was when she was 24

Wow. that second woman who's 94 is still sharp as a tack. her eyes are full of life and knowledge. I bet she was a real heart cbreaker back in her day.
You know, we don't know that their sons/daughters aren't w/ them..In some cases, I wouldn't be surprised if they're aren't paying for their care..How do you know their children aren't visiting daily, weekly? Of course that isn't always the case.
what problems??? their age? they are not retarded, they are old that's why they live in a assisted living facility. They aren't mental health patients.
