  • I collect antique sw revolvers. what do you need to know? btw the revolver should be 4the or 5th models of sw safety hammerless. you can use .38 sw aka .38 smith wesson short. Definitelly not 38 special! acording to serial numbers you can find out the years of production, approcimatelly. use only cowboy shooting loads or black powders load. some shooters use modern smokeless amo and they say: manufacturer keep the pressure limits.... i am not sure. try smith-wesson forum antiques for more info

  • @loptosko1 Hey thanks for responding. i've been on the fourms and they did seem to help me out a bit. My major concern right now is the pitting inside the bore. both revolvers have pretty bad pits. im soaking the bore in solvent right now. I've seen videos on repairing bores on rifles. but nothing about pistols. Some forums say dont worry too much about them as they will be filled with copper or lead depending on what your shooting. but i wonder if buffing the bore would be idea.
