He is very quiet, intellectual. Hes never been into the the groupie thing. he for years was married to his manager Susan Silver, a little his senior. That all went down in Seattle. Now, I think he's just a family man, sorta like Johnny Depp. They spend a lot of time in Paris
i agreee i saw him on march and man when he started to sing like suicide it gave me creeps and seasons! and jesus christ pose withtout a fault it was like being in the 90's again
Just saw Cornell live last night, he did nearly 3 hours and let me say his voice has not lost a thing. He sounded great. Thought he might struggle on Jesus Christ Pose, but damn if he didn't nail it.
Just saw Chris twice last week - he has NOT lost his voice. He is amazing. He had some rough years in the early 2000's but he has healed now and is still fantastic!
@WillFlex4Food I've seen him play the new stuff live, and It does still sound good. I think what it is with the record is Chris let Timbaland do whatever he wanted with it just to try a new sound. I had overheard that a Rock based release of Scream is coming out soon.
I'm not sure if this was stated already, but in regards to this video's description: How can this be a 'cover'? I may be wrong, but I recall reading that Chris Cornell wrote this song long before co-forming Temple Of The Dog, there was just no way that Soundgarden could pull off a ballad like this. So, he kept it off any of their albums. You can't 'cover' your own song...lol
oh come on. i dislike timbaland as much as the next rock fan, but cornell is his own man and can do what he wants, even if it stinks. nothing he does can ever undue the genius he has shown over the years!
I am originally from Seattle.. I love you Chris Cornell..lol.. thats so funny. call me.. better yet.. email me back. I just want to sing with you. I am also a Gemini! I hope are well.
It's so f*cking hard to accept that this brilliant man is going to work with Timbaland. Pretty sad he cancelled his tour, also. I got so dissapointed.
musical versitillity! I dont like timbaland either, but I think it's good that cornell's tryin new stuff, I know he'll always stay loyal to his roots, so good luck to him I say!
that's just my view - I'm not tryin' to force it upon you! lol
You think that the studio version is great, but then Chris plays by himself, just guitar and vocals... he makes all of his songs so much more brilliant when he strips them. Amazing
This song made me say goodbye to a fine ass woman and put the needle down..........But hey ...she's the mother of my kids and still a great friend.!!!!!!
Chris Cornell is one of the most brilliant artist of this generation. His song writing abilities are awesome and it has been a pleasure to hear his music during my lifetime.
Chris is the epitomy of a great singer. His style is unmatched. I mean - hey - Led Zep is very cool - but Chris made "Thank You" his own. Just listen to it again - then the Led Zep original straight after and Robert Plant has been outclassed on his own song (no disrespect Robert - you are one of my idols too). Temple of the Dog is rated as one of the top ten albums of all time and well deserved.
Some people are saying his voice is shot?? I wish I could sound on my best days just like Chris Cornell sounds on his worst! He is/was/always will be amazing!
I dont care what any of you guys say...he is just amazing with an incredibly strong and powerful voice. Whoever doesnt agree with me must have no taste in original and pure music. He is such a talented artist and everyone should appreciate that.
I wish i were at that concert! He played such amazing songs in his own unique style.
Oh and to Tavat...nothing happened to his voice! He has a scratchy hard voice, which by the way, is great for his style of music!
Will someone please tell me what happened to his voice? I love the shit out of Cornell and I find it hard to believe that he just beat it up singing. Think it has anything to do with exogenous opiates, if you know what I mean?
well i dont know what specifically happened, but his voice is shot now. his best vocal album was the one he did with temple of the dog. one of the best albums i've heard in awhile
Hello Temple of the dog / Chris Cornell fans !

100% right. I saw him live a couple weeks ago and he sounded just like back in '92. Even the newer material sounds good live, and I hate Timbaland.

I hate when people always want to keep artists/bands in the 'original box' they came in. 8P
In art, stagnation is death.
Some may not like it but,
I respect ANY artist who has the guts
to try new things.
And, to me at least, the man's in a league by himself. 8)
Peace

Temple of the dog was the greatest group of musicians ever assembled. chris cornell's greatest work in my humble opinion.
hoping now that chris is on his own, maybe they'll do a little temple of the dog revisited.
wouldnt that be great.
