I use many Bible translations of the original texts, because they can give further understanding to the meaning of some verses. I just don't use cult "bibles", like the Watchtower version, from the Jehovah's Witnesses, which was paraphrased to push their lying doctrine.

I consider all the different translations a benefit for learning. I personally use the New King James Version, as my main version, because I don't like the archaic words of the KJV... I don't talk like that.

@AntichristComes The problem is that there are not many translations of the original texts-the only complete translation of the original NT texts is the King James 1611 and it's subsequent editions, because the other versions are either based on the corrupt Sinaiticus and Vaticnaus or translated from a translation, like NKJV, which is missing over 6,000 words. Its better just to learn what those old words mean, or meant when they were written.

I don't believe the things Sunday preached, but I think he's a really interesting historical figure. His sermons depicted a virgin American pastoral landscape that was God's chosen land, which by extension was home to his chosen people. When viewing or reading his other sermons, pay attention to his portrayal of gender. Moses' mother, who raised a servant, is the model for motherhood, while Jesus, the "ultimate scrapper," exemplified the ideal manhood.

I believe in giving people the freedom to make their own choices. You can preach about the dangers of alcohol all you want, but prohibition law imposes government force on people and creates a criminal black market. I feel the same way about today's drug prohibition.

You are right, BUNGLEJYME. Wine in the scripture is associated with joy and warmth and good things - - even worship, as long as a person does not drink too much! Drunkenness is certainly another matter.

Several years ago I visited the Sunday Tabernacle in Ind. just weeks before they tore the place down. I was also able to befriend a man who was collecting and organizing material for the then soon to open Sunday Museum.

The man allowed me to hold in my hands, actual sermon notes of Sunday and his personal wallet, which he carried until his death. I was honored.

Need more Preachers like him? Sure we do. But the average church would never allow him to preach because of to many "inconvienient truths" in the word. I blame the preaches for the state of Amedika today.
