its about the final conflict between good and evil. post apocalyptic. The world ends not with nuclear war but with the accidental release of a biological weapon. the few remaining survivors split into two groups. one led by a good old lady. the other led by an evil SOB that I guess is either a minion of hell or perhaps satan himself. the movie doesnt really clarify that, maybe the book does. haven't read the book.

indeed. I was dissapointed when i read this book because it all ended so fast. It just didn't fit in since it all went so slow until then, and I liked it like that. Suddenly it all ended, anlmost missed it so i had to read the page over again.

I really like The Stand miniseries, so I'm not sure I'd like to see it remade in some ways... but the book is possibly my favourite book ever, and is FAR superior to the tv version. Reading some of the comments here, it struck me that a trilogy of movies COULD be done (LOTR style, and the studio would have a 'big hit' for three or so years), although a TV series would give more time, movies would give the budget that would likely be needed.

'Don't Fear The Reaper' is a great song. You can tell that the version they used in the miniseries was NOT done by Blue Oyster Cult... close... but not the real version.

After reading 'The Stand' several times I was mostly disappointed with the miniseries. Due to being a t.v. miniseries it was edited heavily and was allowed to fully convey the darkness and brutality of the book.

Personally, I wished they'd remake it as a 'straight to DVD' release with more depth.

the move doesn't convey the gore, the morbidity of 'tube neck' but the book is brilliant, and the miniseries is as good as it gets for translating a book into moving pictures
