  • I see this was posted a year after Katrina. We're still not back 100% yet but in many ways we're better and the Quarter is jumpin' and now we have Frenchmen St with the real music for us locals. Even gettin' local gigs on St Claude. Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras are bigger than ever. 100% of the cruise ships are back in port and some have even upgraded. Sailing down the Mississippi River into the Gulf of Mexico and into the Caribbean. Obviously the most fun port to cruise out of. Dat who we are!

  • @9thWardJukebox Maybe next year i can make Fest for the first time since 2000 - from '87 to '94 i didn't miss a year ... then things got tight, moneywise...

  • I love this song, Dr. John (sexy), New Orleans, the people and history. It's an artist palette of originality. The many precious times I've visited New Orleans it was coming home time for my heart and soul.

  • I have never been to a city that caught my heart , except yours

  • love this song. trying to find it on cd anyone knows

  • Nobody could sing it better than Dr. John! Had the pleasure of watching him perform before there was ever a big girl world for me, standing backstage at "The Aragonne" in Chicago, thanks to a friend who was an "Andy Frain" usher. Here's a really nice "N'Awlens" song with a nice little video as again today we're all with the Gulf residents in spirit.

  • New Orleans, sweet, sweet memories. I can't bring myself to want to go back.

  • Our thoughts are with you once again as you wait patiently for the Big Polluter to get a job done.

  • 1 Month and I can take my 3 Month old Baby to SWEET HOME NOLA ;) Can't Wait

  • Who Dat!!!! As An English musician, living in Spain, my time in New Orleans this February, for Mardis gras, the superbowl, the whole damn thing - was AMAZING!! I love this city, and could live there in a heartbeat. It is still, even after all the tribulations, the jewel in America's crown.

-and the music??? MY GOD, THE MUSIC!!!

  • Once New Orleans adopts you, you can never belong to any other place--New Orleans is my HOME no matter where I have to live since Katrina. You can force the woman out of New Orleans but you can NEVER force New Orleans out of THIS woman!! PROUD MEMBER OF THE WHO DAT NATION!! Love you Dr. John and all our wonderful musicians--best in the world.

  • This started a bit slow, just like the music but it really grew on me. Great photos.

  • @aajmw wow, that was awsome. clearkt writte and clearly stated. Go head yaya we feel you!!!!

  • You may have to one day leave Nawlins,.....but Nawlins never leaves you.

  • The longer I stay away - even since I left Rummel in 1966 - it's a world apart, on a different wavelength, in a quirky key, lived like no other place in the world. "Brother Clarence" (James P. Louviere) See drhanzonscience for my music, with great love and respect for Nawlins, Dr John, and everyone down 'yonda in New Awleans!

  • I'm very sorry that I never got to see N'awlins before Katrina, but I still plan on going.

  • Dat's awright.. don't let it stop you from goin'. You won't regret it.... believe me!

  • What an inappropriate thing to say to someone whose entire family lost their homes to Katrina and had to relocate, but who also still have hundreds of family members who are still there. My children are included.

But Jesus loves you anyway. God bless you.

  • Whose family is still there? Not mine.

  • 350,000 family members are still fighting the good fight keeping New Orleans alive. Where are you?

  • Where am i? living in a little beach town that hasnt had a murder or robbery since ive been here(3.5 yrs.) Im only 3 hrs. from N.O. my daughter goes to a public school that doesnt have metal detectors and security guards. Thats where I am. Making a better life for my family.

  • new orleans used to be a beautiful city to live. Now its a cesspool of gangsta rap bullshit. sorry to say that but its the truth. I used to live there as well. Its cool to visit and reminice but after about an hour there, you realize that its all just memories. Memeories that stay good if you stay away from todays new orleans.

  • Everytime I get homesick I go back for a day or 2. But there is NO way I would move back, and Im 4th generation NOFD. Not 1 person in my family is there anymore.

  • Not necessarily, it all depends on what part of New Orleans. There are still many wonderful artists there. I hate the gangsta rap too, it definitely doesn't belong.

  • @bondservant007 So because somebody lost their home we should all be blind to the truth? Shame on you, may you never block the truth again - then you will truly be blessed.

  • @SunbeltRyders keep your ass in the sunbelt! what are you talkin about?

  • @0520bitch New Orleans is IN the Sunbelt, what are YOU talking about?!

  • @swollengoat906 ill tell the local voodoo practitioner to do a ritual so you can get a congenital heart defect.

  • @Academic1Researcher how sweet of of you, I didnt go to collAge like you, but I do believe I would have to have been born with this congenital heart defect since congenital means something you were born with. That being said, EAT A DICK AND DIE.

  • @swollengoat906 i was just messing with you and yes i know what congenital means i said it to be dumb lol on purpose and no im not in collage im 16 but ill be there soon and i said the stock phrased cliché about the voodoo as a joke referring to our culture its a joke no harm intended but yeah i will always love New Orleans ^_^

  • what album yo?

  • Nawlin's.....yes sir sweet Dr. where y'at

  • I can write for you any sheet music

  • This is a magnificent collection of artifacts. The collection here helps me to feel N'orleans. Of course, Dr. John makes the collection complete. Never been there, but can see the allure--thanks to this rendition. Cheers!

  • I miss you

  • Have not seen all of New Orleans yet. The gods must be crazy.

  • you never will

  • Here's hoping you come all the way back. Un p'tit baiser de Canada.

  • Even those of us who have never visited New Orleans need New Orleans to be there. It is a state of mind that the world, and especially I think, our southern neighbours need. The world needs a New Orleans a lot more than it needs a Disneyworld, no disrespect intended, but New Orleans is real. I often think to myself, "I could use a little New Orleans right now," and put on Dr. John. Strangely enough, I never said to myself, "I could use a little DesMoines right now," and put on some Pat Boon.

  • I sit at my desk in the beautiful Northeast and shed tears for my second home, even tho I'm there but once a year for a few weeks. Dey ask me when I'm there "...are y'all from here?". and I always say "Not yet".

  • i'm wiping the tears...you can take the boy outta N'awlins but you'll never take N'awlins outta the boy...

  • Bravo. Quel beau voyage en Louisiane. Encore... merci

  • I went back home for a visit over Valentines weekend.... I was still homesick and I was HOME. So sad to see how bad somethings still are 2 1/2 yrs later. I just would like to find a way to make it all better NOW. It's been too long.

  • I'm a Katrina runaway trying to find my way home to NOLA. This video makes me cry.

  • I'm crying now...

  • ... You & Me BOTH!!!

  • New Orleans was my home for 25 years the best years of my lie I sure do miss her and her food although since I am a chef from there I don't have to miss her to much just when I can't find the fix'ns I'll be back some day and the first place I go is o see my heart Chamaine

  • Beautiful music, wonderful images!

  • Have visited N'Awleans many times (I'm from London, England, but have family in Lake Charles, SW La.) Beautiful city, full of jazz, full of soul aplenty. Sadly devastated by Katrina. Dr. John's music is the best tonic to pick you up when you're down. The phoenix will rise from the ashes...

  • Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?

  • i do.

  • WOW!!!

  • Whew *tears* this just pulls at my heart...

  • Excellent video/song. Two years past Katrina now. We want EVERYONE absent to come back. This town is the greatest city in America, perhaps the world! Nothing but Love! Where Y'at?

  • New Orleans proud to call it HOME

  • This was a very well done and very touching video.I just met a woman that became a nun in her late 60's for an order in Tijuana Mexico. Cause she came out the tradgedy in Mississippi too. She didn't want to talk about it yet. She had a hard time learning Spanish so she is on to Texas now. It's like many in New Orleans, and many others in that area have become nomadic. It must be devasting for them at times.I will pray they make it home.

    Blessings

  • It makes me grieve in my heart when I think of the destruction that Katrina brought to New Orleans...it is the best city in the world!

  • A song for one of the best cities in the world. Oh, how I miss Nawlins!

  • You sons-a-bitchas! youse a makin me cry fer it! LOL!~

  • Please pray for those returning home ;-)
