I think I commented a while back when I had just started watching your show about the "New" direction. I was saying I felt like continuing it was sort of a slap to the fans who make your show a profitable and rewarding hobby with their time and, occasionally, money.
I'd like to apologize if I voiced it accusingly. I think doing what you want and enjoy is much better for the show and makes it what it is to begin with.
N-n-n-no...I NEED MY JAPANESE GAMES. YOU CAN'T TAKE THEM FROM ME! I shall return with an army of glompy fangirls....Oh damn it all to hell, I just can't go on with no Japanese games..I wont be able to...BE.
Bob, stop it with the pyro-thinker and anti-thinker. I subscribed to listen to what you have to say about gaming, not watch poor acting and trivial plots.
I really wish Capcom of Japan's execs and devs could see this video. There is a prevailing mentality in Japan that their stuff just can't be popular here (this is pretty ridiculous considering how many Shonen Jump icons dominate Saturday morning cartoons these days), which I had taken notice of in the Mega Man Legends 3 Devroom blog even well before the game was cancelled. Those who haven't traveled internationally always seem surprised to find out that they actually do have fans over here.
3:00 - Listen Bob, I hate the glut of "REELISTIK SHOOTURS" still flooding the market to this day just as much as you do, but when people say a movie "looks like a videogame,' they're talking about an over-abundance of unconvincing CG special effects - IE, that everything on screen looks like it's been made on computers, just like the worlds and characters of all videogames. See Red Letter Media's reviews of the Star Wars prequels for an example of this term being used.
@Norvolo I think he was referring to the massive amount of CGI involved in the Transformers/Aliens/Threat to Humanity in those movies, which are honestly the only selling point to begin with.
Ninjas back when, are pretty much modern zombies.
Also, and now I understand why modern nerd culture holds ninjas in the same retarded who-still-thinks-that-this-is-or-remembers-why-it-ever-was-funny bracket as Chuck Norris.
It was my experience that Anime got huge in the U.S. after Pokemon appeared. Sure, there had been some random series now and then, but after Pokemon there was a flood of anime aimed at kids and teens.
Can anyone identify the game that shows up at 1:51, 2:26 and so on? Or, come to that, the one with the lady chucking missiles at 3:20? Clearly there are too many ninja-based classic games I am unfamiliar with.
@PcKaffe Assuming only the animated ones (aka not the stills), The first beat 'em up is Ninja Combat, second one looks like Bad Dudes and the top down is Ninja Commando. All three are arcade versions.
I was drawn to anime by Robotech, simple as that. Hadn't seen any anime before that and since I was mostly a PC gamer a LOT of the games I played were from western developers. This is that console-centric view of gaming I was talking about before.
Videogames made Anime popular? Wow that's a dumb, misinformed theory. Also stop with the live action segments, they're not funny and you're a terrible actor, I'm not trying to hate, it's just what I think.
anyways, as much as I like them, I don't want every single game that comes out to be grey shooters and uninspired sports games, I enjoyed having colors and fun/original gameplay in my games
@carnyzzle I don't really like grim and gritty games that much regardless of color...which is why I'm not a fan of GTA or Saints Row. Not to mention, I really get confused by the moral ambiguity in games. Take the aforementioned games, and Assassins' Creed. I'm a bit uneasy about playing as criminals or assassins.
@RocMegamanX well, the problem we have now is that grim and gritty games are seen as 'hardcore' and thus attracts the western gaming crowd. nowadays most people that didn't grow up with or appreciated 90s games thinks they're too casual.
I have enough of an attention span (apparently unlike the haters) to endure the storyline stuff (which admittedly, I don't hate, but I don't love) and watch it anyway to hear your discussions. Keep up the great work, Bob. Love your videos.
The "story" is just filler between expositions, and if only he would save the time of writing, acting and filming these story segments, which have nothing to do with the exposition, He would increase the speed in which he makes videos, and also develop more what he is going to say, like in “The big picture” at the “Escapist”. He also wouldn’t be weeks late to the party in many topics like the PSN network and Operation Rainfall.
i know, i watch them in his blog first, though he took weeks before saying anything about operation rainfall. He just told what everyone already know.

@Chaosian01
Don't let popular opinion dissuade you. Ninjas are awesome. Oversaturation and exposure damages fondness and image.
Ninjas done right is always a treat.
A good episode of Walker Texas Ranger with a cheesy finishing move is always better than an onslaught of overused jokes would lead you to expect.

Not fair... I loved the Ace Attorney games, all of them.
Another game that's seemingly on the chopping block for us U.S Gamers is Phantasy Star Online 2. Sigh, I feel like I was born in the wrong culture.
