  • Did a search on Youtube on our last name and came across your video. Cool! The funny thing is my brother lives in Ballard District. He owns Milsteadt Electric. Give him a call if you need any electrical work. :) Blessings...

  • @KristineMilsteadt Hahaha - cool! Thanks for watching :D - Kat

  • This is so inspiring!! I just started working as a barista and my dream is to open a micro roaster and quality café... It's amazing hearing that it's possible : )

  • @gabeslover Awesome!! Well, I definitely wish you the best in your endeavor - I am certainly of the school that we can do anything we put our mind to ;) - Kat

  • Shout out to the house that Andrew built. Nice. You's guys drink coffee in Seattle, too? ;)

  • @barnz008 Hahaha - nah, it's all a facade. - Kat

  • MP and EP? And he mentioned about costs? I don't think he ever had a problem with that....

  • @iasonas8 ?

  • I really like this guy! He seems really homey. I'd love to visit his cafe sometime.

  • @Warrenff5 You should if you're in Seattle! Definitely worth it -- a really excellent cup of coffee. - Kat

  • What commercial espresso machine was that? Anyone know?

  • @nativesun it is the La Marzocco Strada :)

  • @nativesun Yes - LM Strada MP; they have an EP as well, hoping that when it's in production we can go back for a visit - Kat

  • two macbooks ?

  • @spyrmak We do what we can to promote this little known brand - Kat

  • Wow, very cool-- a cafe where you can order an aeropressed coffee!

  • @jamin3d Yes - and you can actually order your coffee by the prep - pour over or press pot, etc. I love that the customer can choose and that they accommodate that. - Kat

  • Very Cool !! ..your field trips are Awesome !!

..and i love the way Allison explains things.. & you both are very articulate and intelligent

  • @craigdamico1 Glad you enjoy them! Definitely hoping to do more on this topic :) - Kat

  • Looks like this would be a great cafe to be a part of.

  • @coffeefusion We really enjoyed it and hope to visit again - Kat

  • HD?! What is this? Am I dreaming?

Has Kat got a new PC?

Since things are changing, maybe the camera will be flipped... Who knows?

  • @SpiritedViper I did get a new laptop! The benefit of which is that even though it takes forever to process it in HD, it doesn't take down my entire computer so I'm able to multi-task!! :) - Kat

  • Is Andrew a Chemist? He really incorporates a lot of scientific techniques into his work! I suppose its easy to reproduce a desired result.

  • @awilson72 He's not but he does definitely incorporate that type of analysis into his craft. I wanted to film the work they were doing with the Mojo Extract but it was so broken up by serving that it didn't flow well. - Kat

  • This is a cafe! Too bad im in VA im missing some great Seattle coffee. Andrew reminds me a lot of myself, I really push method consistency and extraction yield. His expressions remind me a lot of Velton.

  • @ktFoxtail I too am in VA and have yet to find a local cafe that doesn't remind me of a Starbucks from 10 years ago. I have found a vibrant coffee culture in my recent trips to San Diego, but I am looking for a good local (anywhere in Virginia) roaster. Do you have any leads??

  • @ktFoxtail Yeah, he is really great -- definitely enjoyed the field trip and we learned a lot! I wanted to film he & Michael (the other barista) doing their Mojo Extract analysis but they were so busy it was difficult to do so. Hoping we can head back and spend more time with them - Kat

  • I have some recommendations for him. Try other types of brewing methods, not just with the smart brewers. French press filtered (extra filter that removes the soot), Hario manual pour over, and he should really think about getting bottomless (naked) portafilters. I'm a big believer on the bottomless. Ever since I switched to one, my shots have improved drastically. Each method yields a different taste, brings out more subtle notes, makes a coffee richer, or gives it more body.

  • @jdharding2 He does offer these - press pots and pour overs made to order - Kat

  • Allison (sp?) has a new thing to add to her resume: Interviewer! :)

  • @jdharding2 We scooped her up from newspapers so this is part of her history; just digging that we can incorporate it now into our work! :) - Kat

  • lol is that shay carol sitting at the bar on his appl computer?

  • @coolchef09 Pretty sure it's not ;) - Kat
