  • You'd never see this get past the right-winged P.C. activists today! If things like this are so terrible and inappropriate (for kids to watch) why in the heck didn't parents 30 or 40 years ago holler and complain? It boils down to common sense and good judgement. It's the same as mothers breatfeeding in public -there's a heck of a difference between porn. lewd acts, etc, and such things as this. To me things have gotten worse because of over-proactivity. AKA We want what we know we can't have

  • 2 all of u who posted comments downing this clip or having nothing to do with it, you're nothing but a bunch of pathetic psychos.

  • This is TOO Cute . A mother and her baby bonding . ^_^

  • I REMEMBER SEEING THIS ON T.V AND THE MUSIC IS NICE BUT I AGREE THIS VIDEO IS INAPPROPIATE BECAUSE THE BABY IS NAKED.

  • @3KNOCKS What's so inappropriate about being naked while bathing? Nothing is showing, and it's a little hard to bathe while clothed! Yeesh.

  • They dub this "inapropriate"? Pul-eeeease!! A baby's bottom is nothing new to us and we're totally used to seeing this same concept shown in TV commercials...so what's the big deal anyway?? (Btw...that whole thing with Katy Perry is absurd to me) People like myself miss these classic clips, growing up as an 80s child :( Don't know if anyone has noticed but they have remade several of Joe's songs and he isn't singing thm; geesh...what's up with SS today is anyone's guess.

  • @sweetlife031 would you believe the DVD for classic Sesame Street episodes has a warning that it's not suitable for preschoolers today! it hurts to hear that, it's like our entire childhood experience is being rejected by today's society!

  • @sweetlife031 The powers that be believe that the demographics have shown that Elmo and their kind are more age appropriate. To my mind, I don't really buy that! They just want to gut anything that is classic Sesame Street and remove it, or sanitize it for the new generation! Bah! If it were not for YouTube, I wouldn't see these gems from my childhood anymore. Bring back the classic Sesame Street!

  • my god i'm so happy i was a child during the classic sesame street era

  • @torontonian1978 Same here. :)

  • ! nothing can be more caring & loving than this video.

  • Yay! I've been looking for a Sesame Street clip that featured this awesome tune by the late, great Joe Raposo. There's been a few of them with this song used in the background. Even without lyrics, the music is superb! We miss you Mr. Raposo! And we love all your songs from Sesame Street!

  • @avik382 I agree with you there.

  • We were truly blessed to have Mr. Raposo live on this earth. For those of us who were young children in the 70's and 80's and watched Sesame Street, Joe's music left an indelble mark of innocence and purity in our hearts

  • @Jazzyteach65

its the reason i want to make music today. i didnt know until 2 yrs ago .who he was . i thougth it was marcos valle all these yrs .now i take classes in percussion and xylophone . he did sesame street music for villa sesamo lol . they are both legends though

  • That baby is so cute! Love her little outfit.

  • Great clip? Yes!

    Great memory? Yes!

    Great music? Yes!

    Great composer? Yes!

Inappropriate? Hmmmm...I'm not sure on that one!

  • @d72jjpilc

Well, if you'd been that sweet little baby getting in the the altogether (as my grandmother once said) on TV, and your friends found out about it, would they ever let you live it down?

  • That's crazy that this was deemed inappropriate. It wasn't graphic, and it is only a baby. I could understand if the mother was the one getting the bath.

  • Oh Goddess, I so remember this from when I was a kid...born in 1980, so I was lucky enough to still get all of the awesome 70s Raposo...RIP Joe!

  • love it! love it! sesame street was different when i was little. it was happier. i dont know. i was born in 1987 and i know I am young, but, wow! things are still sooooo different from when i was elementary-school aged.

  • inappropriate? REALLY? i change diapers at work every day; i guess i*m innapropriate, then? loL*

there is NOTHING inappropriate about this video whatsoever. it*s a mother giving her baby a bath & some love. :) if anything, it*s the exact opposite of inappropriate; it*s beautiful & part of life.

sometimes i*m afraid kids these days are too sheltered due to PC-ness. i look back on old SS clips & don*t know why they*re not shown anymore. almost all of it is part of life, timeless.

    old SS ftw! :D

  • Cute. I remember this.

  • Regarding the upbringing of children I was shocked by a photo I saw recently of my son and his friend making a hand gesture with their 1st and 4th fingers...I was shocked because it was a satanic sign they had picked up from Disney..I went and checked YouTube "illuminati symbolism" only to find that this is being fed to our kids on a daily basis...please take 5 mins to check this out...

  • I remember this as a kid. Thanks for posting it!!!

  • Yeah, let's all get freaked out because a baby has a butt. Or maybe just enjoy a pretty video of a mother washing her child. Man! I think people really go out or their way to find something to be offended by. News flash: one button changes the channel, and the other one turns the tv off.

  • Why would anyone have problems with baby butt showing. Mary Kate and Ashley had their baby butts on TV for Full House in the first season.

  • Thanks for posting again. Inappropriate? Man... what a sad world we live in when something aired on Sesame Street is inappropriate yet there is much worse on youtube that stays.. Loved seeing the cloth diapers too LOL poor kid

  • i cant believe some people are questioning the baby being changed video. they have too much vice in their heads!

  • that baby's at least 30 by now.

  • More like 34 or 35!

  • @johnbourbon the baby's about 40 by now

  • in provinces like ours, parents don't advise making the newly baby(below 2 months) too long in the water when bathing. - is this true?

  • @astigren01

Looks like a warm day in the video.

  • I think it was pulled because of the baby butt. Unfortunately, there are too many sickos out there and now it's considered child porn to show this kind of thing. It's sad really. Our children are born just as innocent as we were but now it's way too short lived. They lack the care free freedom that we had and now every inch of their lives is scrutinized and micro managed and as parents we have no other choice because it's not safe not to.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't get how this video was "inappropriate", but it's not one of my faves. Thanks for posting, though.

  • This video was pulled for being inappropriate? What the heck is that all about? It's just a baby being bathed. You can't even see anything and besides, anyone who would "get off" on something like this has serious, serious issues, going beyond pedophilia.

  • I remember this one. Watching this now makes me think of my own daughter. I'm actually crying. Thanks so much for the post.

  • Bet the baby in this clip is a grandparent by now! LOL Also, was this another Joe Raposo song? Sounds like it could be...........

  • Hope not, this video is from the 70s, the baby would be about 40 or so, kinda young for being a grandparent!

Still, our baby is most likely a parent by now, whether or not he/she lets the kids see this.

  • That music and those images are absolutely perfect together! I wanna be a baby again! *cries* Peace.

  • They need to return Sesame Street to its former glory.. Thann God there are people who are out there who feel the same, what a time of innocence.. Its just beautiful...

  • sent this link to my sisters...and told them (along with the wonderful love we received from our own mama), when i was little...watching the love and tenderness this mother shows her baby, made me want to be a mommy one day...what is inappropriate about that? thank you for this posting! xo

  • A loving mother bathing and dressing her happy baby. How in the world is this video inappropriate?!

  • *clapping hands*....BRAVO!!!thank you...*tears of happiness*

  • @nchanthegamergirl Whoever had flagged it as inappropriate was completely out of their minds! This is CLASSIC Sesame Street, and NOT the crapola that they pass off as Sesame Street. I wish they would have the classic stuff on TV. I could care less that CTW put the demgraphics for three year old, I really could care less, but to make Elmo the franchise player is, to my mind, asinine and an effrontery!

  • @AlbieGray What you said, DOUBLE! Sesame Street today has been dumbed down to the point of imbecility, and even my four-year-old prefers the classic Sesame Street clips to the new shows! Thank the gods for these classic clips and the DVD sets!

  • I loved this one. Makes me cry. So sweet, so beautiful. It's the simple things that touch our hearts so deeply.

  • Wow, this is a lovely half-remembered dream for me. Thanks for posting. (Can someone please enlighten me about what's so "inappropriate"?)

  • I see nothing wrong with this clip, just the loving act of a mother bathing her baby.

  • okay, seriously, who the hell flagged this video as "inappropriate" ??

p.s. vintage Sesame rules, btw :)

  • I would sing with Joe' Raposo's songs as well. I wish we could have all the copies of the old shows. Damn PBS and Sesame Workshop for revamping the program to one that is no longer fun to watch. When something works keep it. I wish they would show the shows with Joe Raposo's songs.

  • This is terrible, letter E and number 4 should pull their sponsorship from this show!!!

  • I know the baby in the video is all grown up now and probably embarrassed about her bare baby bottom being shown on TV....other than that I think it's cute.

  • You know, that might be the reason it was pulled... how would you like your cute little baby heinie on nationwide TV? :)

On the other hand, how would anyone know who it was? And you're right, it is sweet.

  • You can hear the Portugese style in the song

  • I don't get it-what exactly is inappropriate about a mom giving her baby a bath and showing lots of care and affection?

  • This brought back wonderful childhood memories I had watching Sesame Street. I am so disappointed clips like these are no longer aired. Things have changed so much and not for the better.

  • That's so upsetting to see that this was marked "inappropriate". I remember this being a favorite clip of mine. I remember feeling that the baby was well cared for and that I wanted to be that mother, bathing her baby...and now I'm the mother of a toddler and truly understand how sweet it is to give your baby a bath. So touching!

  • hahaahahz The baby is darm cute and nice!!!

  • i think CTW pulled the real children footage because of two reasons:

    1) crazy evangelists who think seeing naked babies is sacreligious and immoral

    2) depictions of race - monsters are non-racialized and therefore safe

  • I remember seeing this when I was a kid. It's no inappropriate. It's a good teaching tool.

  • I remember this one distinctly. Inappropriate, huh? I think that might be one of the indicators that we're all going to hell in a handbasket. This was such a sweet clip. Thanks for the persistence, mstatz.

  • I remember this too and cannot believe this video was marked as inappropriate. It is such a beautiful piece. Can you tell me the name of the song and how I can get ahold of the John Reposo CD as this would be a good dance.

  • I remember this clip from about 30 years ago. Yes, i too was touched. Television back then had so much more innocence about it.

  • I remember watching this as a child and it touched me so much I could not stop crying!! Did anyone else have that reaction?

  • *raises hand*

  • You know it! I couldn't stop crying, it was so beautiful!

  • absolutely!! I just got done watching this one with my 2 year old son and here come the tears!

  • You are not alone. And I am glad I am not the only one!

  • *raising hand*...yes,me too,this was NOT inapropreiate.

  • This is another classic Sesame Street musical clip that you don't see anymore. Ahhhh! Good times!!

  • Absolutely beautiful, and brings back a lot of memories. :) Joe Raposo ruled, and still does, even in death!

  • I love this video! Thank you so much for reposting it! So beautiful!!

  • I remember seeing this as a young child and how touched I was by this film even at that young age. I love the way Joe sang all his music and he did a great job conveying the emotion of the song.

  • native americans are some of the most precious people !!! glad to have some in my blood!!!

  • i love you MSTAZ your blessed for blessing others with what life is in this false misslead day an age!!!

  • thats what life is that baby!!!!

live your life for things like this!!!

beauty at it's peak right here!!!

the music is so pricelessly perfect !!!

    WOW

  • You're very welcome!

  • It's been many long years since I saw this one. So beautiful. Thanks for posting!

  • Hey M: I just checked BMI to see what the title of this song is. Joe definitely composed it, its title is "Indian Baby Bath", and it is registered as BMI Work #5967021! Finally we know the name of this lovely lullabye! :)

  • I have to check out BMI!

  • P.C. is taking our lives away! They even recycled the origional film for "You're My Baby" all just because there was a shot of a woman breast feeding her baby! That's part of life! How is that innapropriate?

  • Oh for crying out loud! I have the original "You're My Baby" on tape from Noggin, and you can't see a thing! Yes, the mother is breast feeding, you can tell that, but you can't SEE anything inappropriate! Geesh, is it just me, or is PC getting out of hand?

  • man, that almost made me misty, seeing a mother and baby bond like that. why couldn't life be like that. nowadays all you see and hear are babies getting hurt by their parents, or tossed like garbage. Seeing this video was so delightful thank you.

  • Thank you for posting this beautiful memory from my past.

  • I just wrote a blog entry about people's politically correct reactions to this clip (and similar ones from Sesame Street's early years), quoting you (mstatz) and posting the clip as an example. If anyone wants to read it, please ask me for the link in a private message; YouTube won't allow links in comments!

  • Could you post a video? I'd really love to see it!

  • I don't have a VCR or a webcam, unfortunately; the best I can do is edit existing clips.

  • If you mean a video that I put up on the blog, though, all the ones I used are already on YouTube: (1) this one; (2) a clip from Episode 1 that shows a girl in the shower (among other things); and (3) a cartoon of a boy who rescues a baby bird, but accidentally drops his pants in the process.

  • OH, I get what you mean now! You are commenting that it was flagged the first time. You just commented on my comments on the film. I thought you were stating that THIS POST WAS FLAGGED (again).

  • There is nothing wrong with this. I have seen a lot of total crap on youtube, and naked little two or three year olds, that were NOT pulled!

  • How do you know it was flagged?

  • this is so cute!

  • Thanks for posting this again mstatz...and much additional thanks for sending it to me several months ago after it was pulled. I have a special DVD for all Joe Raposo segments.

  • What is it called and where can I purchase a copy for myself?

  • Inappropriate? Oh for crying in Manhattan! What kind of bulltoot is that? This was an adorable, cozy scene of family life and the beauty of a mother's love for her child, and I think it's beautiful! OK, so the mommy is seen applying lotion where the diaper goes. Big whoop! Thats part of how mommies care for their little ones. Is THAT he reason why the honchos flagged it? If so that's just stupid

  • How the hell someone found this "inappropriate" I'll never know. It is beautiful and touching and gentle. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Also- great Raposo score. I'll be humming that for days now. Thanks.

  • I think this is a very sweet video. Whoever flagged it needs to get a life. The baby is adorable, and the music is very soothing.

  • This video is inappropriate?!? Give me a break!!!!

If it was suitable to watch as children, its acceptable now! People need to get off their politically correct high horses & get a clue!

  • I agree 100%!!!

  • If enough of us say that, it will happen... believe and keep saying it!

What do we want? STOP PC!

When do we want it? NOW!

  • Keep on saying it!!! It's working!! THEY HAVEN"T PULLED THIS YET LIKE THEY DID THE LAST TIME! YEAYYY!!!

  • I wonder if they showed this after 1985, when I was born. Does anyone have any ideas? Anyway, the music is very beautiful and soothing to me. Good post.

  • Yes, they definitely did! I recorded this sometime in late 1986 or early 1987!

  • I'm sorry but I was ensconced in yet another gorgeous Raposo score and didn't notice a damn thing.

  • Tru dat. (Blissing on Raposo here too... but then again, my username...)

  • What a beautiful melody- wonder if there is a lyric to this- Do you know his song "Little Things" ?

  • I don't think there are lyrics to it, but I could be wrong! When I listen to it, I hear "You're a beautiful baby / you're my baby / you're my baby".

  • I can totally hear that too! Grat minds think alike!

  • Is it possible to make this the favorite of all your favorites? Five stars.

  • You can always move it to the top of a playlist... :)

  • This is absolutely darling. Nothing "inappropriate" about it. I guess whatever moron pulled it before stinks as much as his opinion, since his mother obviously never bathed HIM!

What do we want? STOP PC!

When do we want it? NOW!

  • "Inappropriate" to a few dirty-minded YouTubers, but OK according to PBS and CTW? Come on...I see nothing suggestive or dangerous here; all this clip makes me feel is coziness and nostalgia. Five stars!

  • There's nothing inappropriate about this video. I remember watching it on TV as well. Thanks for posting it. :)

  • This is cute and sweet. Those who call it "innapropriate" sure have hangups.

    ~Ra'akone

  • This video is so cute! I haven't seen it in years. This was very tastefully done. You can't even tell if the baby is a boy or girl. And besides, it's a baby for godsakes! Who'd be offended by this? It's so sweet and innocent. I dunno, I guess there are a lot of folks out there with some unnecesarry hangups, but I'm not one of them. Thank you for sharing with us!

  • You're 100% right that's exactly what this video is about parents looking after their kids and bonding with them,i saw nothing inappropiate in this segment and i remembered it too watching this many years ago.

    Thanks mstatz.

  • I remember seeing this during the early years. People, there's NOTHING offensive about this video. It's teaching kids how parents look after their babies and bond with them. I'd be more worried about the people who put SESAME STREET in the tags of videos that are TRULY offensive, and believe me there are people who do that...

  • When you first posted this one-I thought it was absolutely adorable. The sweet humming and the smiling mother lovingly bathing her child. There's definately NOTHING inappropriate about thhis one.I'm faving it again

  • Pretty much blame Bill Clinton for being our president(even though he was SO MUCH better than George Bush, unless you like him,)because I think that ever since he was our president from 1992 things started getting P.C. and all the "70's" and "80's" content had to go.

  • No, it has nothing to do with Bill Clinton. Clinton actually did some legislation that's allowed for the explosion of hard core pr@n all over the 'net and video stores.

That's not to equate this vid with pr@n in any way. It's ridiculous this would be pulled when there are many many vids on YT that actually ARE inappropriate.

    This is just cute.

  • If you want to blame ANYONE for pulling all of the classic Sesame Street clips, blame Sesame Workshop. How close minded do you have to be to just assume that kids would rather see a red monster who barely has a passing familiarity with the English language than all these great old clips that I can guarantee you that kids would love even today? There are so many of them here that I would hog this comment section listing them all.

  • Not to mention, all these awesome Joe Raposo tunes! I don't know about y'all but I can say that they sure as hell had me rockin' & singin' along with them as a child in the early '80s and I can bet you that today's kids would really love them if Sesame Workshop would just embrace the past & air these great clips again instead of the Elmo crap

  • It all started to change right around the time Jim Henson died (May of 1990). I don't know who or how many people got in charge of changing the format of the show (or why the hell they did) but whoever it was, they made a decision to trash the entire 21 year series named Sesame Street and start from scratch using the same title (Sesame Street). I consider today's S.S. another T.V show now!

  • Amen to that Mike

  • I know what you mean. In 1994, the last of the geniuses "behind" the show who was still alive, Stone, was "shown the door", around the same time the "new" theme started. But 1998 is even worse...I think you know why! There are a few gems today, but still...not like it was!

  • I agree with you. It happend because of the viewing age. With cable and all, the age group went from 2-8 to 2-4. 8 year olds just don't watch sesame street these days. They cater to the preschool crowd only. Being an educator myself, I think the school does what is developmentally appropriate and useful for that age but where is the SOUL? THE IMAGINATION? THE CREATIVITY that I loved so much from this show. Classic SS was inspiring!

  • oh and by school i mean 'show' oops

  • I can still remember most of those songs, but then again, "everybody sleeps", so I might have forgot one or two. Elmo is somewhat cute (and irritating after about two minutes), but these old clips are just are so genuine and real that we still remember them, after all of this time.

  • Isn't if funny how this video was considered "inappropriate" a few months ago but not the first 18 or so years it was shown on Sesame Street. What an insult to this 38 year old guy!!!

  • Sorry for all the posts by me but I'm paranoid that this "obscene" video will be pulled again.

  • For those of you (such as ISNorden) who know how to "pull" videos from youtube, you'd better "pull" this one before it gets pulled!

  • If anyone out there can believe it, this was posted by me and pulled a few months ago for being "inappropriate". First of all, NOTHING can be seen. Second, there are TONS of Youtube videos of kids getting baths and I have actually seen babies where things COULD be seen. Lord only knows why THOSE videos WEREN"T pulled??!! Whoever flagged this and whoever pulled this have SERIOUS problems!
