  • There's only two scenes in old movies that have ever made me cry. One is this scene, where the old bitter nun has her epiphany, realizing Bernadette is a true saint, and that she, the old nun, has been a trifling bitch. The other scene is in "Going My Way" where Father O'Malley (played by Bing Crosby) brings about a surprise visit for his priest friend, secretly shipping his friend's ninety-year-old mother from Ireland over to America for a visit, mother & son not having been together for ages.

  • "The spring is not for me." Sure can relate to that line

  • Beautiful and touching scene. What a sweetheart.

  • i shall spend every moment loving.

    one who loves does not notice her trials;

or perhaps more accurately, she is able to love them.

    -St. Bernadette

  • yes indeed, a most significant scene.

  • Saint Bernadette is an inspiration to the world.

  • The director choose to show us the horror of Bernadette's affliction

in the face and eyes of the doubting nun...much more powerful than showing it imo.

  • Very moving, that scene of Sr. Marie Therese' when Bernadette shows her her affliction. This was that nun's epiphany and helped her learn true humility. Very beautiful.

  • We are all on our journey to heaven. Love God and pray and all will work out. God loves us all and gives us all the strength we need to complete the journey and come home to Him. St. Bernadette pray for us.

  • A most wonderful film, always has me quietly in tears.

As an avowed agnostic, I don't know how to reconcile my dismissal of a compassionate God with the fact that I felt compelled to visit Lourdes over 30 years ago, and intend visiting again before I eventually discover the reality of my dilemma

  • God bless you. I wish you well on your spiritual journey and may we all walk with Christ!

  • Catholic piety no longer has the broad cultural resonance it did when this film was produced, but it remains compelling to this day. Whatever ones theolgical convictions, this film is a cinematic masterpiece.

  • Sometimes I so feel like the religions got GOD ALL BACKWARDS and have totally missed the point!

  • I cry every time I see that scene with the nun carrying sick Bernadette. So powerful!

  • This scene is a lesson. We are all the doubting nun. Why do we need "A Slap in the Face" to have faith?

  • god bless

  • all time favorite! thanks for posting.
