Martin Luther King's actions changed the course of history, if you think things in black communities are bad now imagine where you'd be without the Civil Rights Act. To be quite honest, Malcolm realized later in his life the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was a fraud and as a result distanced his self away from him. If you know Malcolm X he became more receptive to working with white people later in his life for human rights for all minorities in America and abroad.
Martin and Malcolm X both had different styles and different philosophical solutions towards Civil Rights. Also consider that both of them had completly different backgrounds. @gnossticc If a state refused to equally fund colored schools or provide the federal government with that information, then the court could have ordered that particular state to integrate its schools. Trust me, no state would have pitched a fit about giving black schools equal funding when they saw that by doing so they could avoid forced integration. Black people and white people are cultually different and should each have the right to educate their kids as they see fit.
@gnossticc I'm assuming you're referring to the status quo as in segregated schools? First of all, whether you believe in segregation or integration is irrelevant when examining Brown v. Board of Education. No state was violating the 14th Amendment because every states was providing schools for colored children. The simple way for the Supreme Court to handle the problem w/o starting a race war was to order every segregated state to provide proof that black schools were being equally funded.

they both knew that once white america, and the world, had a real image of black men and woman behind a common cause and ready to die for that cause, that there'd be no way to get beyond the issue of seeing those men and woman as human beings and that they are every bit deserving of justice and respect as any other community of people. they knew that once the world had that image it could no longer ignore their power, their voice, their ability, the spirit, their will.
ultimately i believe they had the same philosophy. they wished for a world where a black man had control of his destiny and a voice that would be heard the world over. they both call upon a tremendous courage from the black community, to walk into battle and fight, or rather resist, non violently or with violence, not as one man and one woman, but as one whole. they both united millions of blacks, before them blacks hardly did anything together aside from suffer.

You know the statement Malcolm makes and Martin makes are true. Damn shame they didn't work together when they were alive. Now people need to know that the same lack of stories of black heroes and what not are still missing from today's digital media that is being used to educate the world. What can be done about it? Martin Luther King's actions changed the course of history, if you think things in black communities are bad now imagine where you'd be without the Civil Rights Act. MLK's ideas live on longer that he did for a reason, he inspired people and he changed MINDS. Changing a persons mindset is far more powerful that any type of violent resistance.
Malcolm X didn't do anything but talk. He was unenlightened and narrow minded, he very much bought into the systems mindset of division.

Martin Luther King also won a Nobel Peace Prize which brought infinitely more international attention to the issue than Malcolm X ever did. A white girl came up to his and asked if she could help blacks and he said no. However, he changed his views after going to Hajj, the holy pilgrimage of Muslims, and saw that all races were praying together, and many whites too. He began preaching that blacks and whites could live peacefully. The Nation then killed him.

However X's main flaw in his argument was he was working off of the premise that all White people are the devil and will never emphathize with Blacks. However history has shown that MLK was right and Malcolm X admitted he shouldn't make sweeping generalizations about anyone. MLK was more effective in gaining white emphathy, while Malcolm X was more effective in helping Black pride. Which still till this day lack of Black pride is a issue.

To be quite honest, Malcolm realized later in his life the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was a fraud and as a result distanced his self away from him. If you know Malcolm X he became more receptive to working with white people later in his life for human rights for all minorities in America and abroad.

Martin and Malcolm X both had different styles and different philosophical solutions towards Civil Rights. Also consider that both of them had completly different backgrounds. Malcolm X grew up more Urban then Martin who comes from Generations of Preachers! Malcolm grew up harder! But one thing they did have in common were the same goals for Black people to have American Equal Rights,the same rights as any man or woman, the right to be a Equal Human Beings no matter what color! SO WE HONOR BOTH

@gnossticc If a state refused to equally fund colored schools or provide the federal government with that information, then the court could have ordered that particular state to integrate its schools. Trust me, no state would have pitched a fit about giving black schools equal funding when they saw that by doing so they could avoid forced integration. Black people and white people are cultually different and should each have the right to educate their kids as they see fit.

@gnossticc I'm assuming you're referring to the status quo as in segregated schools? First of all, whether you believe in segregation or integration is irrelevant when examining Brown v. Board of Education. No state was violating the 14th Amendment because every states was providing schools for colored children. The simple way for the Supreme Court to handle the problem w/o starting a race war was to order every segregated state to provide proof that black schools were being equally funded.

ultimately i believe they had the same philosophy. they wished for a world where a black man had control of his destiny and a voice that would be heard the world over. they both call upon a tremendous courage from the black community, to walk into battle and fight, or rather resist, non violently or with violence, not as one man and one woman, but as one whole. they both united millions of blacks, before them blacks hardly did anything together aside from suffer.

Malcom X was the only black leader with any sense back in the day. White, southern segregationists knew that white people and black people could not cohabitate in the same environment, go to the same schools and learn the same history without the entire fabric of American, Protestant civilization being torn apart. (Revisionist history so as not to offend negro children, the unconstituitonal Civil Rights Act, etc.). If more blacks had followed Malcom instead of MLK, we'd have a better America.
