A long time ago (when the cramps were getting started) the term punk encompassed a lot more than it does now.....What we know as goth, psycho billy, death rock, hardcore, and even some psychedelic was once known as punk. Labels don't matter to anyone but corporations so they can sell you an image of that label. "If you're punk you'll love these guys with mohawks" is the mentality. Punk is what you want it to be.....what YOU think it is.

Now that's a performer..First heard this when I was 15 in New Zealand in 1985, and good god it still kicks ass. Still listen to this all the time. Part of what made the Cramps so cool is that were never mainstream, not even 'alternative'; they were like a secret that got passed around and only the very cool or very bad got to know about. Fucin' loved them then, and fuckin' love them now. RIP LUX, and if I believed in god I'd get him to bless you too Ivy, if you ever read this. You both rock.

What guitar did Ivy use in the early days?

@StickyVinny It was a Lewis guitar, made by a Canadian luthier. I don't think there are many around because I think the guy made them all by hand. In other words, I don't think they were mass produced. And the guy died, so that's another reason why there aren't many of them around. David Gilmour has one. I read that it was used to hit those high notes on "Money", because it's got 24 frets. There's more information out there on the 'net, should you want to look into it.

@StickyVinny Vinny, by way of p.s.: I forgot to mention that in the EARLIEST days of the Cramps Ivy used one of those plexiglass Ampeg/Dan Armstrong guitars--the ones that had a removable pickup, as used by Keith Richards circa 1969 or 1970. There's a clip of Keith Richards showing it to Hendrix backstage before the Stones played a gig. Anyway, that's the kind of guitar Ivy used before she got the Lewis guitar, which I mentioned in my previous reply to your question here.
