I am a Christian. I do not know much about Islam, but I have to admire their devotion to prayer. I wish I could be that devoted. It would be nice sometime to have a wake up prayer call. When I pray in the morning I can definitely tell a difference in the way my day unfolds.

I think the Imam was praying the Salah out loud, since its the third Holy site in Islam. Usually only the Adhan is heard but I think its an exception for Masjid ul Aqsa

I think the Imam was praying the Salah out loud, since its the third Holy site in Islam. Usually only the Adhan is heard but I think its an exception for Masjid ul Aqsa

First of all this is not America , this is the holy land. why don't you go to Telviv, instead of coming to Jerusalem, and then going to the Muslim quarter, and then sleeping a few blocks from the Mosque? non-muslims shouldn't even get that close to the mosque. also the sheikh was reading extra stuff which isn't required, the Adhan is just 2-5 minutes.

Church bells are beutiful! I lived in Germany many years and nothing was more beutiful than opening your windows to the harmony of these hugs bells ringing in unison. Also, listening ot the call for prayers is a beutiful experience as well :-)

I dont think he was being a bigot. He was just not used to the experience. That may have been exascerbated because he didnt understand what the beautiful words the muezzin was saying. And he is not used to waking up at 4 am. I thought he was funny. At least he visited the muslim side and could understand that we are not monsters that want to eat children.

Hey man, thanks for posting this. I am a Muslim, two things you should know: The first couple of minutes wasn't call to prayer it was recited verses from the Quran. Its actually very moving, because the verses he recites urges people to fear God and have cognizance of Him - fitting reminder at such a time when most people would rather be asleep. Also, this isn't just a Mosque - its the Aqsa Mosque and the 3rd holiest place for my religion....you are hearing something most Muslims would die to

Al-Aqsa is the third most holiest site in the Islam...and before praying towards Mecca during the time of the Prophet (P.B.U.H) muslims prayed in the direction of Al-Aqsa. I take it you understand the meaning of the call to prayer (Adhan), maybe its a good idea to clear some misunderstanding about the religion by seeking out some local sunni muslims in your town, Peace brother
