  • Newman showing off his ability to let the notes breathe while still groping for context. He masters the emotional arc like no other. Pixar loves him for a reason.

  • I've never had a piece of music give me a wave of goosebumps like this before. Thomas Newman... what more can I say.

  • haunting yet beautiful

  • I have always wanted to figure out this piece ..... it is quite hot. Thank g-d for YouTube.

  • Shame this was never released as a score!! This song [music] and Robert Downey, Jr.'s performance made this film unforgettable! I watch it every time it comes on cable. James Spader was also good in this film.

  • this movie & this song in particular, saved my life. I was 17 and it was 5 years after this movie came out.

I just want to thank MR. Robert Downey for his powerful portayel of Julian and Mr. Thomas Newman for such amasing score.

  • Breathtaking..............

  • Nice video good music

  • This slays me. Flat out amazing piece of music.

  • Theres really no words to describe this soundtrack. After the film is over it leaves you craving for more. It seems to never escape the mind.

  • This movie is the most UNDERATED FILM I've ever seen. This moive is so great on so many levels. But I guess if your not a carbon copy of Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt in hollywood the movie isn't worth much. The acting alone in this film is strong then most of the films today. Just the interaction between Robert Downey and Andrew is just SUPPURB!!!, ***** (5) STARS ALL THE WAY

  • @Lavidicus6 and the fact that this Mr. Downey was currently struggling with his own drug addiction at the time, only gives it more of an impact!

  • This score puts me in mind of the novel, as it evokes feelings of despair. The character Clay has several opportunities to do something heroic, but the only heroic thing he does is leave L.A. behind. The movie, while different in nature than the novel, is one of Robert Downey Jr.'s shining moments

  • This soundtrack has haunted me for so many years... I cannot understand the reason it has not been released so far.

  • I know exactly what you mean.. I feel the same way. ever since this movie came out..

  • Brilliant soundtrack, brilliant movie and amazing acting, script, directing and the list goes on and on...I saw this movie at least 4 times in fall 1987 at the theatre in two weeks. The third time I snuck in a mini tape recorder to record the music on to an actual cassette tape. The only other time i did that was in 1985 on film called CREATOR. Both movies to this day have never released their soundtracks. Sad. They could have made alot of money back then. My cassettes are long faded now.

  • Hilarious! The obstacles we had to go through back then to bootleg good music. However, the movie Less Than Zero did have a soundtrack. I still have mine on cassette. This movie very much had an emotional impact on me during that time because the characters (Clay, Julian, and Blair) were my age, though so much more...experienced.

I've never heard of the movie, Creator. I'll have to look into it.

  • Makes me wanna do a bump on a balcony of a hotel room....call me crazy!

  • WOW! This had me caught in my chair in a trance with my mouth open, drooling...It's GORGEOUS!

  • Yup, Matt, I know. It's the featured video on my channel. "PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO MERGE...." : it's the first line of Bret Easton Ellis's "Less Than Zero." I've been hooked on Ellis ever since, roughly 1990.

  • Great! 5/5!

  • This song makes me tear up

  • It always happens to me, too. I love the score and I loved the film (but not as much as I loved Bret's novel).
