Due to space research, the expectations of life have increased significantly for humans to inhabit the earth.
Scientific discoveries, new technologies, new materials, electronics, robots, polymers, plastics, rubber, efficiencies, ways of working, ways to manage, how to avoid failures, ways to avoid mistakes, thousands, countless benefits. Thank you, NASA, thank you USA, for allowing all of humanity, achieve better our lives.
Outstanding video for an outstanding vehicle. Considering the mess that NASA is in now, it make me thankful that I appreciated these missions whilst they were here.
NASA costs the US taxpayer less than half a penny on the dollar, and from that they gave us shuttles, stations, space telescopes, Mars rovers, probes to Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto, aeronautical research etc etc. Oh, and an unquantifiable INSPIRATION FACTOR.
And the House of Representatives would like to slash NASA's budget further? WTF?!
Absolutely stunning and mesmerizing! Thanks for posting. In doubtful times like these, it's patriotic and uplifting to see America's and the world's greatness. Long Live Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour...
I was on the first Air Force "pick-up" crews sent into Africa From Rein Main Germany on Mercury capsule shots. What a magnificent journey the USA has taken since that time many years ago. Sad to see it end...
I was fortunate to see Atlantis launch for the last time in person. Words cannot describe the emotion and patriotism that I felt seeing her fly one last time and conclude the Space Shuttle program. We will never again see such a beautiful and versatile Spacecraft. I salute not only the Astronauts for risking their lives for exploration, but all of the thousands of dedicated people across this country that have made our Space Shuttle program successful over the last thirty years.
Congratulatios for your video, Amazing Images. Excelente video, increible la edicion, las fotografia. La verdad me cautivo.
Saludos y un fuerte abrazo a todo ese maravilloso equipo de la Nasa, que simpre estan a la cabeza en todo lo que hacen. Gracias por subirlo. Y felicitaciones otra vez. Desde Mexico DF
Having retired from the space program in 1993, it makes me so sad to see this all end after all our country has derived from this program. People just have no idea what we've learned from the space program and the benefits we are now enjoying. I love these photos.
This is fucking unbelievable and breathtaking. Absoutley stunning and cinematic shots in there. I feel humbled to be able to see angles like this of such a dramatic and amazing engineering feat. The seperation shots are the stuff of scifi movies.
Blu-ray Discs are able to hold 1080p HD content, and most movies released on Blu-ray Disc produce a full 1080p HD picture when the player is connected to a 1080p HDTV via an HDMI cable.
Another absolutely spectacular video, of a breathtaking flight! Watch it in HD, and crank up the sound. Even the soundtrack is spectacular. Beautifully done, NASA!

Sad that this is not where my tax dollars are going~~to beauty, to wonder, to exploration...when we go back, let's go back with an understanding that we cannot pollute the space we explore.
You all did a great job! This is the best video - as a USA employee my job will be over with the Shuttle Retirement like so many others, but the music, the video, it was perfect. Pulls at the heartstrings and gives us pride in our Space Program and our country! Great job everyone!
Anyone notice stuff falling off the orbiter at about :30 into lift off ?, what the hell was that ? , thought we fixed that stuff , hopefully this don't make for a bad re-entry ya know.
@theeAlphaOne that's just paper covering the RCS recesses. The paper is there to protect the RCS holes from rainwater. An autoinflater pushes the paper out right after liftoff.
What an amazing achievement! Too sad that there isn't another program in sight. It shows how poor our country is - not just financially but intellectually and spiritually!
STS-135 FD12 Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, Mission Specialists Sandy Magnus, Rex Walheim and the thousands of men and women powering the NASA Space Shuttle Program thank you. NASA Astronauts of Discovery, Endeavour and Atlantis Space Shuttles we honor your bravery courage and strength. Astronauts are Scientists, epic Educators Explorers, and honorable Heroes of the Universe we appreciate your service to our country bravo sincerely respectfully. kauaicr07
"On the day we did not expect it to go, it went." The missions are over and all we have now is the memory and the legacy. The legacy of Atlantis for most of its career was overshadowed by the accomplishments of its sister orbiters. But she got to finally show the whole world what a truely great craft she is. It is a testiment to the men and women who worked on her that she flew on time for the last launch with no mechanical issues. Thank you to all who worked on the shuttle program!
discovery, atlantis, endeavour your last steps into space also challenger and columbia all ways in my heart but also remember space shuttle Enterpise and Pathfinder
Thank you: astronauts, scientists, mission controls, and all others that work for NASA. You have achieved your dream and beyond, and are a great source of inspiration for the world. There no words that can explain my gratitude for you all. Thank you so much.
Holy F'n crap! That video was the most impressive thing I have ever seen! I was very emotional. Words pollute music and this video proves why! What a great masterpiece of film editing and musical power. I will share this video for a long time.
While I am quite partial to Endeavour, this was beautiful. I feel like I've lost my best friend of 30 years. Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Endeavour, Atlantis...thank you for your service to this country and the world. What a great ride it's been.
Fabulous!!! I love these ascent highlight videos. Especially the last 3. Although I still think the STS-133 video has the best punch. This one captures the sentimentality perfectly. I can't believe it's just about all over :-(
Farewell Shuttle, You were one of America's greatest achievments. You carried the dreams of this great nation for 30 years. You will be forever missed by those who dared to dream.
Truly awesome. Space Shuttle, the most amazing spacecraft ever. We're so lucky to have so many video and photo records of such an amazing part of history. So sad that its come to an end. thank you to all the amazing NASA engineers that have made it possible
God Speed Atlantis, wishing you a safe journey home.
I have to say i preferred your choice of music for the STS-134 video, but this perfectly reflects how we all feel that this is the last flight - sad. Thanks!
@colinsubaru thank you.....Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour........you have showed what teamwork, hardwork, commitment, and dedication can do for a single nation's abilities and you have shown that you are the masters at space exploration. God bless all five of you. You will never be forgotten.
So true...Atlantis had so many first in its time in orbit but yet to say that this brave shuttle has seen so much and its time to rest. You will be missed but never forgotten! Good Speed Atlantis and Thank you to all...
16:30 Ka-chow! A little wink from Atlantis to let us know she's OK.
Awesome, inspiring video. That very last shot is priceless.
I'm sad to see the Shuttle fleet retired, lots of mixed memories. I'm excited though that the private sector has so readily taken up the challenge of orbital work. Mostly because it sets NASA free to do what it does best. Exploring our universe. Good luck to you all.
One door closes and always another will open. Cannot wait to see what USA will have planned for the future of NASA. The work horse of low orbit space has come to an end, the shuttle program is now history. God Speed and hello deep space!
The appropriate title would be; the flashbacks of a brave Space Shuttle. :) Godspeed Atlantis! Enjoy your deserved rest along with your sisters, Enterprise, Endeavour and Discovery and never forget your two sisters in heaven who always will watch over all of you, Challenger and Columbia. All of you deserve your place in history.
