This would be a lot better if the management would find an effective way to address the nightly problem with mosquitoes. You have a bed to sleep in, a roof over your head however the broken screens on windows allow the hungry mosquitoes to invade the place most especially at night. This was originally to help people stay out of the streets at night for a lesser amount than checking in at a hotel however no one can seem to guarantee that you will be free from the diseases the insects bring.
imagine the petty crime later on in this place? It reminds me a bit of the slave ships of old but on dry land. surely this is not the answer to the housing shortage of the city. Its the city authorities who should be planning better than this.
@WELLBRAN this was not meant to provide housing for the poor? this was a project to help shelter those people coming from the province applying for jobs, or locating people they intended to visit in Manila. Imagine hotel ranges from 1200-3000 a day. if you belong to the class D and E would you be able to pay that amount? this would also help prevent people occupying vacant government lots to build their shanties
@euronbaja Ok good point I can see that idea, but it seems a bit void of privacy and dignity, much better to have small separate rooms and yes most Phils hotels whatever they charge are not worth the money, have not been in a manila hotel for some years as I travel through Cebu these days (on my way to Negros Oriental) and I can see it getting run down as does everything in the phils, things start off nice and new but then it goes downhill from there on in.
This will end up after a while as run down showers will not work and broken stuff etc etc like all places in the phils its okay when new its keeping it like that is hard the owners are not around and staff are not up to it, and also why is a security guagrd showing people around? where is the staff?
Very affordable indeed! You can also give your improvement suggestions to Gwapotel management and that will also be for the hostel visitors' benefit.
